Its a fun game. Short and not really that spooky but I had a lot of fun.
This game is a mess. The first 15 minutes are spent aimlessly wandering around a completely empty map with no sense of direction. I thought my game had bugged out, until I finally found the first scripted enemy encounter at the far end of the park in a random side room. I then proceeded to kill it in a single shot with the aimbot shotgun that I had picked up. This game doesn't feel like a survival horror title at all. The map is far too spacious. You can pretty much ignore every enemy. The bad voice acting, and awkward animations brought me out of the experience as well. The voice acting isn't just badly delivered, it's also poorly recorded. It comes off as extremely amateurish. There are many other indie survival horror titles that I would recommend before this one.

A beautifully made fixed multicam retro survival horror with a few flaws but at a great price...! Your sister is missing in a weird carnival! Find your sister! ...And that's basically the plot, though there are some sinister elements that perhaps indicate further depths, but these are never elaborated upon. The environments and enemies are memorable and well made - some very attractive locations! The game makes great use of third party assets and really makes them play well in this context. The fixed multicam elements are very well handled - lots of static angles, occasional but very well-implemented panning camera and some interesting, appropriate trucking camera. Some great shot composition - but it's a shame you can skip right past the establishing shot for the carnival! There's some occasional blindspots, but nothing egregious. Environmental effects are also strong - great mist / smoke effects, alongside some effective falling water and ripples. Love the falling confetti - really keeps the environment feeling dynamic. The player character is dynamic and charismatic - and it's lovely to see the inventory displayed on the body (eg. unequipped shotgun is slung against your back). Enemies aren't spectacular, but are very servicable in the most part. The Iron Maiden has a tendancy to move through the world collision, sometimes phasing through walls and making unexpected appearances at boss fights. The bosses themselves are inventive but quickly forgotten. There's a good, exciting stalker enemy, but it's comically easy to shrug off their threat by dipping into another area and then returning to the original area - to find the Stalker has despawned. The controls are mostly solid, though the camera-relative input is badly implemented (with no angle threshold on camera transition). There's no option to return to the main menu from gameplay, nor is there the ability to load a savegame while in-game, which is very aggravating - sometimes the fastest way to reload is to get an enemy to kill you. However, there's a nicely implemented map / checklist, so... swings and roundabouts? Finally - special mention for the grungy nineties-style rock music that supports your boss battles: LOTS of character there! Sound effects are well designed in general and keep you fairly well informed of enemies just out of shot. Small wobbles aside, this is an excellent fixed multicam survival horror adventure, and at €5, a very solid investment. Will keep you highly entertained for two to three hours! Chloe we have to stop by hot topic before the next jester tries to kill us
Pretty great game, easy, fun old school vibes and by the end of it I wished it was longer.
Fun little resident evil and silent hill like, a lil short but for its price its great
If I could give this game a "meh" rating I would. The music and gameplay are very reminiscent of the original PS1 Silent Hill game, but it really lacks a lot of the main charm that made SH1 so good. The storyline is basically non-existent and what little storyline there is, is just a load of BS. You play a girl who's looking for her little sister who went missing in a theme park. You get to the theme park and there are monsters. It's never explained how/why she went missing or what is wrong with the park. It's not a BAD game, but it's not really GOOD either... It's very short and plays okay on both the Steamdeck and PC, but movement can be a bit clunky. I appreciate the effort and as a massive SH and horror fan I still found it enjoyable enough to play all the way through, but I don't expect the majority of gamers to love this.
A short sweet Resident Evil-like game with around 1 hour of game-play so it is very short but I had fun. I will definitely try to 100% this game. There really is not a story or lore so do not go into it looking for any of those elements.
It was good, 7/10. Nothing too crazy but it reminded me of Alisa & Silent Hill :)
Looking for a good "More of the old Resident Evil" game? This might be for you! Having played through in about 2 hours, I can only thank the Dev for the short, but gold experience that "Carnival Massacre" is. Some Pros: + descent PSX-style graphics that conjure memories perfectly well + a challenging, but not unfair gameplay that includes various enemies and weapons + a really good setting, playing in a carnival all the time, with some nice stages and cutscenes making the world look bigger + good "find the key" and "switch the levers in the right order" puzzles, with one instance that made me writing down codes on a paper like in older games in times long ago :) Loved it! Please make the second game of you come true, and I'll be on board on release day. Because I liked "Carnival Massacre", and it was exactly the short game I was searching for in that moment.
