Great game!
All the crucial pieces for a solid deck builder is there, but they are not clicking for me. For starters, one of the starting heroes (Hercules) is bugged as his passive skill is not working. Game did not get any patches after release (over 6 months ago), so it's safe to say that it will stay that way. Bugs aside, general gameplay loop seems to be a big chore and RNG fest. Strategies circle around building synergistic deck of spells+enchantments and combining it with heroes strong suits, BUT you can get screwed by RNG multiple ways. There aren't enough "deck manipulation" options to rely on drawing any spells/enchantments consistently. On top of that, heroes share the same deck (or you can spawn one at random), so you have another layer of luck to get screwed on. And even if you manage to get something going, all heroes have a built-in death timer where they just say "Adios" and expire, although much more often you just get out-scaled/screwed over by enemy spawns. Speaking of enemies - combat is tedious. Each area has 2-3 enemies, and you need to read over all of their abilities to come up with an effective strategy of who needs to get attacked first. Later on, it can be 10+ affects per enemy, and the game does not make it easy to read and understand what happens in what order. After a while it just gets tiring and not fun, Overall, after few runs it felt more of slot machine than a game. I'm sure there are more content later on as I haven't fully finished a single run, but it just feels not worth it nor fun.
Cards of Divinity has a great art style and some interesting strategy on how you introduce your heroes, cast your spells, and attack the enemies on the board to maximize your runs. The play of the game is well balanced with a good amount of RNG selections of your heroes and spells to keep it interesting. If you like deck builders, definitely give it a try!
I've dabbled in card battlers, but my fav thing about Cards of Divinity is that the progression feels really rewarding. No two runs are the same. Plus as others have mentioned, the art/vfx/sfx make the whole package satisfying to play. I played on Steam Deck, which had some minor display issues but was still playable. I hope to see controller support added in the future :)
Game is pretty good! And most of the cards are unlocked from the get go so you have a lot to play around! There is a bit of reading involved to understand the game further than health and damage, but it is overall the game feels finished and polished with a lot of beautiful VFXs and SFXs.
Not generally into card games, but decided to give this one a go. After the first run, I can happily say I'm hooked! The scaling of the heroes increases as you reach higher levels, making you want to go again and again to see how strong you can get! Even with the fast scaling, the game feels well balanced, and at least so far I haven't managed to create anything too overpowered.
Its a great game and the dev is super helpful and responsive, made me install steam to try the full ver and now im here to show some support :) play the game, you lot, its charmingly well-made and features a lot of pretty art :) Only sad there is no window mode cus I had some minor resolution issues in the main menu
Good game.
Not a big fan of card games, but I did enjoy playing this one
Very well crafted game, the first run was already a lot of fun.
