About
If we accept that our Reality may be a Simulation, then shouldn't we accept that our simulations (games) may be somebody else's Reality?
Carceri is a fun, meta story about the Programs that run modern society. They're alive and need your help, human, because in Carceri, you aren't a Character, you are YOU, the person at your PC, reading these words. This game's world is the Programs' Reality, and you're just visiting.
Think of Carceri as a virtual vacation to a technicolor, living landscape; a chill, first-person narrative/exploration experience. You'll discover gorgeous, interconnected zones while platforming, talking to cute NPCs, finding secrets, and taking pictures with a heavily upgradable Camera, one that can wildly distort the world as you explore (this isn't a Photo Mode, it's you as the game's Art Director)!
Carceri is a 2-4 hour game made by a single human; a spiritual successor to ULTRAWORLD EXODUS. This is no Dark Souls, as anyone can complete the narrative portion, and there's plenty to find afterwards (like an in-game philosophy podcast...about the Simulation Hypothesis, as it relates to videogames. Don't worry, it's optional).
Works on Steamdeck, and, buying the game gives you the 41 song original soundtrack!
Carceri is quietly unlike anything you've played before. It's hard to explain (and sell), but it's absolutely worth the world's most precious resource: your time. Enjoy!

Fun game, cool little story. How the camera changes how it looks and stuff is fun.
Fantastic game so far. Will play some more and update, but worth the price. Interesting story, interesting mechanics, nothing too difficult but still rewarding.
It's a shame this game doesn't really have any real marketing behind it, because I can already tell it's going to be one of those indie games a niche youtuber gushes about in a 7 hour long video essay. The vibes are immaculate, the story and writing so far are quite fun and engaging, and the exploration feels satisfying. The only real flaw in this game so far is the jumping, it feels way too slippery to control, but since there's not much precision platforming that needs to be done (from what I've seen so far) it's honestly not really that big of a deal. Edit: finally beat the game after around 8 hours of playtime, and that alone should be a testiment to the game's quality. One could easily finish it in much less, but while playing I was naturally drawn to explore as much as I could and try to find all of the camera markers (which I did!). If you like jumping around interesting enviorments and getting immersed in fictional worlds I honestly couldn't think of a better game than this. Big recommend.
Fun exploration-focused game. The colors and the music get truly wild, and it has a surprisingly large world for a solo project. This deserved much more attention.
