Carbox

Carbox is a surprisingly fun mix of arcade racing and creative sandbox building. Every car has its own unique handling, and swapping between them genuinely changes how you approach different tracks and environments. The variety of modes keeps things interesting too. Timed missions, taxi challenges, police chases, fuel-management races, and more. The level editor is the star of the show. You can build full cities, tight circuits, deserts, snowy maps (whatever you want) and share them with the community. If players get behind it, Carbox could have endless user-made content. Driving feels best on a controller, while the editor works smoothly with mouse and keyboard. The cartoony aesthetic is charming, the lighting and environments look great, and some of the dev-made levels offer a real challenge. Carbox doesn’t feel like just another racer- it’s a playful hybrid that encourages creativity, experimentation, and replayability. If you like racing games with personality, or sandbox games with plenty of freedom, Carbox is absolutely worth picking up.

I rarely post negative reviews but this game is extremely unfun and fails on its core elements. Somehow the driving is sticky, slippery and stiff at the same time and the game tells you after 5 levels to use handbrake for corners but that is just guarantee slam into the wall, only way to somewhat control your car in corners was for me to completely let go of acceleration and it would start turning bit better. What about air control then? well you get all the control where you don't need it and will slam into nearest obstacle with the slightest touch of movement key. So this game fails as a casual/arcade racer but okay I can ignore that and do all the achievements anyways, oh wait a second the devs have lost their collective mind with these achievements; finish 10000 races, get 500 gold/silver/bronze medals. What an absolute joke, you need to separately grind all those 3 medals since gold doesn't count as all so sometimes you would have to just play slower just to get worse medal for progression. This game ruined my day.

The devs called this game a labor of love, and it shows. While it's brimming with content out of the box, being able to create your own maps or driver others' maps makes it a proper sandbox experience. The controls are simple, but there's some juice in the drifting system that allows for a higher skill ceiling. It also runs great on my steam deck. Hoping this one finds the audience it deserves!

The biggest strong point is very intuitive editor: You are not limited by grid and every generated segment can be mixed again automatically or manually by adding or removing stuff. It brought me back to old Trackmania days, where you could spend lots of time making your magnum opus of a track. Main campaign is lackluster and mostly works as demo of what you can do in editor. I hope more players will buy the game and create tracks, which we could all enjoy

Adorei o Carbox. Joguei a demo antes e a versão completa tá ainda melhor. Eu não costumo jogar jogos de carro, então ainda estou pegando o jeito, especialmente nas curvas, que são um desafio pra mim, então não achei tão fácil de jogar, mas é viciante. É muito divertido tentar bater meus próprios records e ver como os outros jogadores estão indo. As campanhas até agora são bem construídas e desafiadoras. O visual do jogo é charmosos e caprichado. O legal é que a gente pode criar nossas próprias pistas, desafios e até montar uma mini cidade. Recomendo não só pra quem curte jogos de corrida, mas pra quem gosta de construir. É bem viciante.

Been playing this for a while now, and it’s genuinely one of the most fun racing games I’ve played in a long time. The driving feels great, everything is responsive, and the whole experience feels polished. The art style and sound design are also awesome Download the demo, try it out, and then get the full game, first track might feel too easy but then the game proceeds to humble you repeatedly for the next several hours because some of the later tracks are seriously challenging Also, the creator mode is a massive bonus and genuinely impressive for a game of this scale. I didn’t expect a whole map builder to exist at this price point. Highly recommended!

A fast-paced driving game made with exceptional care, vibrant and attractive aesthetics, and a challenge for both competitive players and those (like me) who enjoy the more arcade-style racing: immediate, responsive, and wildly fun. Different environments that exploit their potential (they are not just simple backdrops), a multitude of levels with different game modes (taxi, chase...), balanced maps in ‘challenge/campaign mode’ that offer constant progression and invite you to beat the scores to get new vehicles (with different characteristics) and unlock a whole host of options. The map editor has immense possibilities; it's not just an add-on, it's worth taking a close look at, it's a gift to the community. As for the gaming experience, I'm personally more of an old-school type of player and I'm glad they've captured the essence of the games I remember, adapting them to the present day. I've played with a keyboard and gamepad, and the controls are responsive and accessible to everyone. In short, there's nothing to complain about. It's a little hidden gem from a team that has put a lot of love into it and deserves applause. I recommend it.

I'm glad to see that all the good things that were hinted at in the demo are fulfilled in the final game. Arcade fun on huge tracks with loads of cars at your disposal. Plus, if you use the editor to create your own tracks and the community gets involved, the game can be endless. I really like the Challenge Mode, with loads of different events that help you learn the dynamics of the tracks and challenge you to do more than just drive around in circles. You get pretty competitive with the ghosts of other users. It's a shame there's no online mode, but don't think you'll miss it that much having the ghosts. Tip: Better with a controller than with a keyboard.
