Its unfortunate that this launched when it did, It is getting over shadowed by other "big releases" Super fun little boat rogue like!
I just sacrificed my crew for upgrades. I'm horrible. I like it.
It takes some time to get used to the boat controls, but after that its a great and solid roguelike with lots of personality
Cool boat roguelike!!! A bit tricky to aim at first but I got used to it fast. Love the variety of cannons, some of them are really fun to use. Also I like how the build works with all the crewmates and items.

7/10 Experience so far, The boss of the second map has a laser and constantly runs away from you. The attack is avoidable, but without a means of closing the distance you can't defeat this boss. The combat loop is fun, but the bosses simply outclass you as what would make them fun as playable characters make them overpowered as an opponent to defeat. This nullifies the joy that comes with creating a build that functionally works, such as the Fire Rune + Katarina + Meteor Cannon build. Another frustration is another portion of the map that forces you to race an opponent, it prevents you from attacking them but they have their own weapons and actively shoot at you, which saps you of your health and you can't defend yourself nor recoup these losses before the next map. There isn't a roguelite element to it, so it almost seems like you need to spec your build to a certain way to overcome each of these obstacles, which can be frustrating if you don't want to. If you don't get the right items ahead of these bosses, you simply die and it doesn't feel like a loss due to a "skill issue". It's a recommended game for sure, but some of the grievances I'm experiencing can't promise the longevity I was hoping for out of this title. I'll continue picking at it until I can clear a full run and then provide an update.
That's how I imagine being a boat captain must be. Cannonballs, explosions, lasers, ping pongs, sacrifices, existencial crisis... 10/10 can't recommend enough.
Colorful roguelite with fun gameplay and plenty of stuff to unlock. Because you are sailing a ship, the controls will take some getting accustomed to. The whole thing feels like you're driving a car locked in a never-ending drift. It doesn't exactly give you seasickness because you have more than enough room to maneuver. You can also use the wind or a boost that is always available to move quicker. Shooting is simple. The crosshair is constantly in the center of the screen and locked on camera, so all you have to do is move it around with the mouse or the right stick on your controller. To be able to shoot, you do not need to move the ship into the proper position. Although a gamepad is supported, I found it more comfortable to play using a keyboard and mouse. You start each run with almost nothing.T he only decision you have to make is which character to play. These are bosses that become available once you defeat them during normal play. Characters not only have their own ship, but also a different weapon, special attack, and perk. The game takes you to various locations where you must either kill a pirate, win a race, or steal a treasure. Each pirate hunt takes place in a distinct spot. But they're not going to show up for just anyone. That is why you must build a reputation by simply wreaking havoc on the ocean. There are three levels of reputation, and each successive stage makes opposing ships more difficult to defeat by granting them random perk. Although the locations are set, everything else is random. The sea is filled with enemy ships, treasures, and unusual locations. You have a map that lists everything except the enemies, but the catch is that you must go close to them. This way, you'll never forget where something important is. A unique location might be a mermaid looking to trade, a minefield, or a dangerous kraken ready to tear your ship to shreds. They're not too difficult to defeat once you remove their tentacles, which serve as a shield. There are many more surprises in store for you. Chests work a bit different. When you destroy enemy ships, you get reputation as well as fragments that eventually combine to make a key. Each chest is locked and may require extra keys to open. A curse can be used to lower the cost, but this can quickly destroy your run and is typically not worth it. More precious chests may even need your health as payment. Crewmates are the last thing you obtain from defeated enemy ships. This does not always occur because it is based on chance. They are divided into six types, each of which boosts your ship in a different way. Carpenter, for example, will provide your ship with a shield. Or a gunner who will strike ships in front of you automatically. Crewmates can stack, and you may have several of the same type. The most fun, though, comes from random loot. There are so many that the game offers a library where you can see everything you've unlocked as well as how to obtain the missing items. By simply playing the game, new gear becomes available on a regular basis. It will appear in the game once unlocked. Each gear and crewmate can then be seen on your ship, which adds to the overall appeal.
Great roguelike with a lot of humor and kinda high difficulty! It's lovely and enjoyable at every turn! And it has a ton of content too
This is wonderful and unique. I'm having a great time. :D
