game of the century tbh xxxx
If you liked the first 2 games in the trilogy, you'll love this one!
Candice and her friends return in Candice DeBebe's Tantalising Tricks, but this time they battle the forces of suckitude through a turn-based RPG system. Compared to the first two games, this one has a lot more content and exploration. There are lots of chests throughout each world, which you'll need to find if you want to get the most powerful weapons. There are also several side quests, such as the search for the King of Bling's books and various liquids that the Brandi Sisters need to improve their beauty vans. The characters start out somewhat specialized. Krystel uses Suck to obtain powers from enemies, Candice shoots her bullets and has some magic, Sebodore has powerful sword attacks and some magic, Megaz uses boots to learn new spells and has high initiative, and Samathia uses a pole or something that teaches him spells. You can tell I didn't play Samathia much. However, all of them can learn more and more abilities (Sebodore and Candice through the Brandi Sister Vans, for example) to the point where you can have pretty much everything available no matter what party composition you choose. The story is very silly like the previous games, and the Final Fantasy references make a return with some of the plot points. While most of the characters are from the previous games, there are a few new ones. I liked the story for the most part, though it gets convoluted at times. However, I miss the Megaz's old voice. The music is still funny, though it's mellower than the previous games. The battle music "Polyglamorous" sticks in your head a lot and I've found myself singing along to it. I encountered some minor issues with the game. A few chests were bugged and wouldn't open (there is one in the Grandma Tower, for instance, and another outside of where your ship lands in Suckepodes), and the UI is clunky in parts. For example, if your characters receive a lot of items/skill increases after a battle ends, the information panel will scroll off the screen so you can't hit the "ok" button with your mouse and need to use keyboard commands. Also with the mouse input, it's easy to get stuck in the item menu when you're using potions on other characters. You can hit CTRL to go back in the screen. Other than these I experienced no issues. All in all, if you enjoyed the first two games you should definitely get this one, as the world of Candice works well as an RPG.
So I've fallen in love with Candice over the last two games. Not in that way, I'm not into that. But for two games there has been not just a labor of love but somehow, despite all the rough edges, a world created where I truly want to know what happens next. Characters I love and treasure. An artist behind it where I can see how much thought and how much love was put into it and it's contagious. It's something where I keep trying to get others into it and man, some people will never go so far as to look past the "cursed" first impression, just looking at screenshots, to see the brilliance behind it. So we're at Cand3ce. Three games, three genres. And you know what? It works as an RPG. Modulo the breakable pieces (maybe Cand3ce Director's Cut can fix this) it's great. You have to put thought into what abilities you're using instead of just leveling through and the characters each have specific mechanics and strategies that are required to bring them to their maximum potential. It's not nearly as mindless as most RPGs. Well, I mean, unless you find the broken parts, but that's not the point, and sometimes the broken parts do get kludged out of being broken. And yes, the end isn't satisfying, there are a few issues along the way...but it still works mechanically. So that's the mechanical part. Musically? It keeps getting better. Lo-fi bangers all over the place. Graphics? Artistically satisfying but the downside is that OBS hates it so much that it will kill your bitrate even if you're doing nothing and have everything set to low quality; I've had it murder OBS to the point where it will start disconnecting me from twitch randomly. It makes sense that OBS would hate this, though. I mean look at it. So overall...the funny thing is this review doesn't matter. You're only looking if you've played the last two, right? And if you have you are a member of the Candice cult. You have probably already annoyed people by trying to get them into all of it. But it's not a problem with you. You love Candice, Krystal, Megaz, Sebodore, Samathia...even the characters you thought you forgot along the way. So buy it. I just hope there's a way for this to go further.
Candice 1 was great, but it's been a sharp decline since then.
after finally beating and playing all three games, I'm sad to have finally finished them 10/10 series
I want to say, I’ve been following the development of this game series for a long time now and I absolutely love each one of these games. They’re silly, have amazing story telling, and always keeps me invested in the next thing going on. These games, no joke, have gotten me through some of the hardest points in my life and never fail to put a smile on my face. For those who are interested in silly games with decent combat (only issue I have is you can’t see the weaknesses mid combat in this one, only if you scanalyze them), this is the game for you. I know this was the third one, but I would absolutely love a fourth game or continuation in the DeBébéverse. Can’t have a game without our top b*tch the magical wiatch Candice though, that’d be a sin.
Great game with deep story, beautiful graphics and amazing soundtrack.
So after having spent a few hours in game I have a few thoughts. The Candice series is honestly one of the best bizarre game series I have ever played. Not very many games like these around. If you haven't played the first two games you will have no idea what is going on in this one so you really need to play those ones. The music in this lives up to the Candice Debebe name. Unfortunately its not as good as the first games music but it is still good. There is some UI problems. Its really hard to compare items to see which is better for which situation. The battle victory music is jarring and needs changed. You have this good battle music then it changes to this generic trumpet music. Its needs to be like a dirty guitar riff or something. The story so far is great! I always love more Candice lore. I'm excited to see what happens next. But I can't help but grind to make my Candice team super powerful. That is the most fun for me. Searching the map for items and things of that nature is also fun. Save points are so abundant the dev should have made it to where you could save anytime because you basically already can. I get what they were going for making it feel like a classic RPG. Maybe take out half the save points let you save at anytime but let you rest at regular save points. I don't know that is just a small complaint. All in all its a great game and worth the wait. You need to play the first two games in order to understand anything that is going on. For a Candice game the first one is a 10/10 second one 7/10 this one is a 8.5/10. Its a good time and its only 9$ BUY THIS GAME!!!!
