Name: Margaret
Class: Warrior
Mark: Inflict the enemy with the Bleeding (DOT and increased damage taken) status once triggered.
Can be swapped with Dragon.

Margaret specializes in high damage melee attacks, high defense, and physical status effects. She is the best character for causing the Bleeding status and one of the few who can inflict sunder. Her shield wall ability also lets her draw enemy attacks towards herself to give the rest of the team room to breath.
Name: Louis
Class: Priest
Mark: Whoever triggers his mark gains a small amount of magic regeneration.
Can be swapped with Speedy.

Louis is a well rounded character that can deal high damage, AOE damage, and heal the party. She has a few buff skills with her primary focus being on damage and leaning how to combo her different skills for maximum effect.
Name: Dragon
Class: Dragon
Mark: Whoever triggers it gains the Dragon Shield status, granting a range of defensive buffs while also making all enemies target them. This powerful mark must be used carefully to keep the wrong party member from gaining it.
Dragon also has the same secondary mark that Calvin has.
Swaps with Margaret

Dragon is an immensely powerful being who can be brought back from the dead. Once alive, he eagerly joins the party and lends a hand. Unfortunately he cannot speak, making communication difficult.
He uses a range of breath attacks to inflict specific status effects on small or large groups of enemies, along with powerful cleaving strikes that can deal heavy damage to up to 3 targets. He uses 2 heavy weapons at the same time and has the highest stats out of any party member, at the cost of needing significantly more EXP to level up.
Woodcutting:
Building bridges requires materials. Fallen logs are common in the valley forests, you'll need to keep some in stock if you want to reach some areas. The shop in town also sells wood if you need some in a hurry.

Mining:
Small outcrops of ore and stone dot the resource rich valley where Calvin's begins his journey. Stone, metal, and powerful upgrade items can be harvested from them.

Fishing:
Tired from a long day of adventuring? Take a rest at the local fishing hole and catch some fish. There are 11 different fish that can be caught in Calvin's gallery, with some only being found in very specific areas. Bring them to speedy for special rewards.

Gardening:
Plants grow fast in the valley. There are four plants you can grow: Herbs, magic fruit, treasure plants, and crystal plants.
Herbs: A mix of different herbs that are great for brewing different healing items and cooking food.
Magic Fruit: Fruits that permanently increase HP or MP of whoever eats them.
Treasure plants: Grow your own treasure chest!
Crystal Plants: A wide range of crystal and gem items that can be used in combat, sold, or used to increase your attributes.

The graveyard:
One of the first areas you explore and a major place of interest as you level up.
In the graveyard are a series of small shrines for each character. At these shrines you can spend points to increase specific stats, allowing you to directly influence the growth of your team. You can also select 'random' to randomly allocate the attribute bonuses.

Combat!
When you aren't working hard to mine and garden, there are monsters to fight! Over the last few generations, monsters have infested the valley that was once lush and peaceful. Spirits have become violent, plants rise up to block your path, even the barren caves have become infested with vile things.
Calvin's Gallery features turn based combat with a wide range of skills, items, and status effects. Instant skills add a unique depth to each fight, allowing both you and the enemy to act multiple times as long as you have the TP and MP. Agility determines your place in the turn order and many skills have a speed rating as well that affects when you are able to act. Spells are usually slow, sword are fast, try out different combinations and explore the skills you learn to figure out what works the best.

Reviews
Calvin’s Gallery, developed and published by Crimson, is a modest role-playing game that combines turn-based combat with puzzle-oriented exploration in a setting shaped by mystery and quiet decay. Rather than presenting a grand, heavily scripted narrative, the game leans into a more subdued approach, placing players in a world that feels partially lost to time. You guide Calvin and his companions through the remnants of a once-functioning civilization, gradually uncovering fragments of its history while navigating both combat encounters and environmental challenges. The gameplay is anchored by a traditional turn-based combat system that will feel immediately familiar to fans of classic RPGs. Battles involve selecting actions for each party member, managing health and abilities, and taking advantage of elemental interactions that influence how effective certain attacks can be. While the system does not introduce many new ideas, it remains functional and easy to understand, allowing players to focus on strategy without becoming overwhelmed. Encounters are generally straightforward, though they occasionally require careful planning when facing stronger enemies or groups that exploit specific weaknesses. Beyond combat, the game places a notable emphasis on puzzles and exploration. Much of the experience involves interacting with the environment, solving spatial challenges, and navigating interconnected areas that extend beyond the main path. These puzzles often slow the pace, shifting attention away from battles and toward observation and problem-solving. Side areas play an important role in this structure, offering optional content that rewards curiosity with additional resources or insight into the world. This balance between combat and exploration helps give the game a layered feel, even if its overall scale remains relatively contained. The narrative unfolds gradually and with restraint. Instead of delivering a clear and direct storyline, the game relies on environmental cues and scattered hints to build its world. Players are encouraged to piece together the past through what they discover, rather than being guided through a fully explained plot. This approach can be engaging for those who enjoy uncovering meaning through exploration, but it may feel distant or underdeveloped to players who prefer more explicit storytelling and character-driven dialogue. The sense of mystery is present, though it requires patience to fully appreciate. Visually, Calvin’s Gallery adopts a simple and functional style that supports its mechanics without drawing significant attention to itself. The environments convey a sense of abandonment and ruin, but they lack the level of detail or variation that might make them particularly memorable. Character designs and animations serve their purpose, ensuring clarity during both exploration and combat, but the overall presentation reflects the limitations of a smaller project. The focus remains on gameplay rather than visual spectacle, which works for the experience it aims to deliver, though it may not stand out in a crowded genre. The pacing of the game is steady but occasionally uneven. The alternation between combat and puzzle segments provides some variety, yet the underlying systems do not evolve significantly over time. As a result, the experience can begin to feel repetitive during longer sessions, especially when similar types of encounters and challenges reappear without major changes. While additional content such as side areas and replay options extend the playtime, they largely build on the same foundation rather than introducing new mechanics. Despite these limitations, there is a quiet appeal to the game’s structure. Its focus on exploration and gradual discovery creates moments where uncovering a hidden area or solving a complex puzzle feels genuinely rewarding. The absence of heavy guidance allows players to engage with the world at their own pace, which can be satisfying for those who enjoy a more self-directed experience. However, this same lack of direction may also lead to moments where progress feels unclear or less engaging. In the end, Calvin’s Gallery offers a thoughtful but restrained RPG experience that emphasizes exploration and puzzle-solving alongside traditional combat. It succeeds in creating a cohesive atmosphere and a sense of mystery, even if it does not fully develop its ideas into something more expansive. For players who appreciate slower-paced adventures and enjoy uncovering details through interaction, it provides a solid, if somewhat limited, journey. Others may find its simplicity and lack of variety make it harder to remain invested over time. Rating: 6/10
