9/10 I imagine the original CoD speaking to the new versions like this: "Did you change?" "Yes." "What did it cost?" "Everything." This is the game that started it all. It is classic and fun with a great story. It still has a soul to it. It has some frustrations as it is a rather old game, but that is to be expected. Still better than any modern ones.
The game is fun. That is all I care about
poor graphics ,playable game
OLD is GOLD
Call of Duty® is a foundational WWII FPS that still carries historical weight in the genre, even if its mechanics feel dated by modern standards. The campaign structure is the standout: instead of a single perspective, it rotates between American, British, and Soviet soldiers, which gives the war a broader narrative scope than most shooters of its era. Missions are linear, but tightly designed, and the pacing is consistently strong; rarely does it overstay its welcome. Gunplay is where age shows. Weapons feel functional rather than tactile, recoil and feedback are minimal by today’s standards, and AI behavior can swing between competent and unintentionally comedic. That said, enemy encounters still work because the level design does most of the heavy lifting. Audio design deserves credit: weapon sounds and ambient battlefield noise still sell immersion better than expected for a 2003 title. The orchestral score also helps elevate otherwise simple objectives. With some tweaks in the .cfg file, I was able to remove the graphics limitations and run the game in 4K with improved visuals at 120FPS Verdict: Historically important and still playable if you appreciate classic linear shooters. Not something that competes with modern FPS design, but a strong example of how the genre was shaped. Score: 7.5/10
Decent 7/10
