Burn Me Alive is an indie horror collaboration between two developers; Davit Galoyan, CEO of the game's publisher ASDstudio, and Arshak Khachatryan, neither of which have any publicly available game release history. The plot for Burn Me Alive is set in Tennessee, 1977, and revolves around a man named Henry Gray who lost his wife and child in a terrible accident. The player steps in exactly 95 days after the accident occurred, and must guide Henry to perform an evil ritual that promises to bring his loved ones back to life. That leads us to what this title has to offer, which is very little unless you're new and inexperienced in the horror genre. What you'll find here over the course of two hours is nothing more than a series of way-too-loud sound effects, a dim environment, some ineffective jumpscares, and exaggerated camera movements that try to curate a 'stunned' effect. The game itself is comprised of simply fetching several items, shooting a few enemies, and figuring out a couple of keypad codes. The story itself isn't awful, but it also isn't remarkable either. Though I will say I was pleasantly surprised that the main character didn't turn out to be in some alcoholic-induced hallucination, like so many other games that follow the 'dead family' bromidic. There are a ton of issues with Burn Me Alive, and right off the hop one of the major problems you'll find is that the settings menu just does not work. Try as I may, I could not get the resolution to permanently change, nor could I get the game set to anything other than "borderless"; which means windowed and full screen modes are unachievable. Surpassing this annoying flaw is an even worse offender, one that lies in the background of the entire operation: this title has a massive memory leak. When my PC started chugging, I checked my RAM usage and it was at 95%. During the last part of the game, it went up to 100% and the game itself kept freezing due to my PC being overloaded. For reference I have 16GB of RAM and 8GB of VRAM, so this should not have occurred if the developers knew how to properly optimize their game in Unreal Engine. This is among a plethora of other optimization issues that probably wouldn't exist if the settings menu actually worked so I could use my proper resolution. There are also several English translation errors, despite the credits showing that there were four people who helped out with translating Burn Me Alive from its mother tongue. Now, generally this isn't a big issue, and I try to stay away from admonishing ESL developers for having minor flaws in their English narrations. However, one big problem has been pointed out by several YouTubers to no avail (despite the developer telling me they listen to customer feedback). One of the puzzles is ridiculously difficult to solve because the only instruction that you are given is "finish the ritual the way that died those you want to resurrect". It's nonsensical, especially when you do not even know how your family died at that point in the story. What makes it even worse is that the item you have to pick up isn't even highlighted, so you have to stumble upon it. Lastly, anyone who follows my work knows that I'm brutally honest, unbiased, and I tell it like it is. That is why I'd like to take a moment to issue a warning. With the limited amount of reviews on this game, I would be very careful with the ones that you choose to believe. A conversation I had with the developer seemed to indicate to me that he was gunning for a free positive review for the simple fact that he sent me a key through Curator Connect. It could be a language barrier misunderstanding, but from the way the conversation went (and his total disrespect towards me and the value of my time) I suspect there was no misunderstanding. Take this for what you will, but I have no desire to work with this developer again in the future, and that goes for all of the ones that have tried to squeeze a free positive review out of me thinking that a key has earned them that. Your work earns you a positive review. At the end of the day, Burn Me Alive is yet another humdrum indie horror game on Steam. It doesn't stand out from the crowd in the slightest, though if you could take away its plethora of problems then it might not be a terrible game to spend a couple of hours with. The poor optimization, lack of functionality, and massive memory leak truly keep it from being worthy of a purchase even on sale. Add in a disrespectful developer, who also lied about correcting issues, and you have yourself a publisher you may want to avoid in the future. And to my readers, I am sorry I haven't had much time to review lately, I barely find a free moment to breathe these days.
Curator page here--> DaRevieweD #127 <-- New review every Weekend

"A Cult Classic? Possibly…"
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2590470058 Here’s The Thing: Henry Grey’s wife and kid tragically passed recently from a fire. To cope with the loss and be close by to them, he’s been serving as a caretaker at the cemetery where they’re buried. It’s a night like any other until he’s alerted by his dog barking away. Could it just be some meddling kids that broke in to vandalize the place or something sinister~
[+] PROS;
:) IN GRAVE DANGER! Walking-sim fans would feel right at home in the cemetery, as there will be a lot of suspense building and getting acquainted with the state of disarray that is Henry’s living quarters when you first start out. Naturally, that also means you can’t remember where your keys or your gun are at… Happy scavenger hunting! Who says there isn’t any action among the dead? Pretty soon, notes will mysteriously appear, instructions received from a disembodied voice. That’s when the fetch quests, puzzles manifest and along the way, pacemakers will cease function! Once you are familiarized with the whole ritual- chances are your trigger finger would have begun to itch uncontrollably by then. Can be over within 2-3 hours, but some brain teasers will sting like a son of a gun! What I liked most was that it’s quite evened out in gameplay; engaging observation skills, problem-solving, stretching the legs and keeping the heart going. It won’t be boring at all, when done right~ :) THE DEAD OF NIGHT~ A good-looking Unreal Engine indie horror ! In a way, it’s plain but unmistakeably foreboding as it’s resourceful with the assets I rarely see in other titles and fixates on the closed location. Henry's place reeks of grief, guilt, with the paintings being the sorriest, most depressing sights to lose yourself in! The cemetery- one whole bad dream and terrible omen. As if watching a candle die out, slow-burn, icy and you wonder when will the corpses rise up… if at all~ Sound design wise, I thought it was executed extraordinarily! With many sounds that scoot your attention to one direction- leaving your hair to stand, while you contemplate hesitantly whether to turn the opposite way. It has a habit of lingering like a piano sustaining an ominous note, wading in complete darkness~ :) A MATCH MADE IN HE- Character development could use some work but the story was woven with care and illustrious effort reminding me of Dying Flame, The Evil Within 2 of which the fire motif and protagonist’s turmoil is emblazoned prominently. But also Pet Sematary where the inherent benefits of resurrecting your dead loved ones outweigh the unfathomable risks. Fortunately, or rather unfortunately- it strays away and transmogrifies into something that burns into your mind. Think of it this way, despite it being only
Chapter 1,
it manages to lay down the groundwork effectively by pouring gasoline all over and taunts you with a match to see it through~ :) THE BURNING QUESTION… From the very beginning, your character’s psychological and emotional state comes under fire. For example, when some objects shift location, lights switch off by themselves or get blown out… Is it just your memory being rusty- perhaps even pure coincidence? And he seems to panic quite easily, which hints of symptoms of anxiety after his family’s passing. Though he can still hold a gun all gangster-like; you have to consider whose poor grave is he desecrating and making target practice? Is he crazy or being haunted?? Look at the title; which already hints of overbearing anguish. Either way, you fear the worst for Henry. Who, by the by, was probably named after Silent Hill 4’s MC and strangely enough, there’s a chain up door secured from the inside with padlocks! Maybe it’s nothing and I’m overthinking. The ending is something to look forward to because all of your theories and doubts will get cleared up~ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2590473388
[-] CONS;
:( HARD TO PUT IT OUT… I hate to break it to you but- ...misleading store page. How? The “abilities” are not included yet, least not until the arrival of
part 2
. Unless it referred to “running”… And some of the deliberately tricky puzzles are time-consuming. For instance, when you're to collect items according to a tome. The steps are listed one line at a time and you have to constantly roam up and down the stairs, corridor. Reasoning? To jam in some scares and stuff the runtime. There used to be more numeric locks where the hints are so vague with many unrelated symbols/items in the same room to throw you off… but luckily they've been incinerated~ :( BLOW SMOKE UP ONE’S- Henry can run but he’s so graceful and airy, it’s annoyingly slow. He can outrun threats but not my unamused face! With there being no inventory to check at all times, I didn’t know what items were currently on my person… It does surface during prompts where key items are required but apart from that, completely invisible. So, if you’ve been wandering for what seems like an eternity in purgatory, the solution may be warmer than you think~ :( GONE UP IN FLAMES… When it comes to the horror part- I’m torn because yes, the sounds work convincingly to reach into your throat through your ears. But off the top of my head, I’m counting more jumpscares than actual atmosphere that “got me”. It doesn’t help there are regular, random noises but no attributable source. Also, I understand that you have to phrase the description on store page to be popping in order to sell it but the devs come on too strong, exaggerating how scary it actually is~
BUGS:
x Issues with settings; resolution can’t be tweaked properly. x My stockpiled ammo of 50+ suddenly drained to 8 upon reaching the end.
NITPICKS:
~ Can't reload unless you're aiming down sight! ~ The "enhanced shootout" sequence added is more annoying. Taking you out of the atmosphere. ~ No options to tweak graphics at an advanced level. ~ No portable light source for entirety of game. But suddenly finds a lantern lying around for ONE-TIME use!? ~ Icons for interacting with objects are so small & unnoticeable. Which is décor and which are of interest… ~ No crouching towards objects on the ground. Instead have to awkwardly angle or reach out from afar. ~ Save points are few, working on the basis of objectives! You’ll have to redo quite a lot if you get stuck. ~ Average voices; one even sounds like the annoying Tik-Tok voice changer… ~ Trying English, tough to comprehend during some parts. Typos. ~ Quite pricey for something released in parts!
"The Sparks Have Flown. And It’s on Fire~"
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2590474864 Last Words? BMA comes in blazing with a titillating premise. Despite self-inflicting some burns with uninspired gameplay. The walking-sim façade melts away to reveal promising horror chops that keeps spreading~ If you’re fond of the style of horror embedded within walking simulators but hate the passivity that’s often a staple… Then BMA is hot for you, because it will have more active, guns-ready gameplay! If you also love the scent of death in the air and have a hard-on for graveyards, here’s the lighter you know what to do~
3.75 / 5

A fiery passionate kiss to ASDStudio for the key!

Don't forget to follow my curator DaRevieweD for more games!!
Burn Me Alive is a pseudo-psychological horror game in the walking simulator game space. Your wife and kid got burnt to toast and were buried in the cemetery, your therapist should have clued you in on, probably wasn’t the best choice for a grieving husband/dad. Throw in a whole bunch of cigs and booze and Satan just starts coming out of ya! Burn Me Alive is almost too stereotypical for a game like this. It sounds like a metal song name or a movie or a book, sadly generic with little impacts. I wanted to love this game, seeing all the cool art and level design gave me hope that this experience might be headed for greatness. I was poorly disappointed honestly, the brutality of killing your pet was weird, even weirder that at some points if you reload, you just have to murder the dog again, why? The art and level design are great, I applaud the work invested, I am just more sad that this is not a cohesive and interesting story like I had hoped or to have had any impressions left on me. The gameplay feels edgy for the sake of being edgy. I can’t even pet the dog before I disembowel it and shove a bunch of garbage lying around into the cavity. Should probably be noted this game is not for the faint of heart. I am sorry for warning you now. It's a spoopy walking simulator, testing your will to interact and doubt yourself, very run of the mill characteristics of a game in this genre. The gunplay was awkward and reloading was even more awkward. The things meant to be “scary” is something that might appeal to younger kids, but not when there are other options. The odd and wonderful art pieces that adorn the walls of the area you awaken in are very provocative. They are cool and interesting enough I would hang it on my own walls in many cases. It made the significance of the shifting of items while playing the game at least feel significant. Out of the gate this game feels filthy, dingy, and dirty like a box that hasn't been opened in 60 years, still intact and smelling of mildew. The game features quite a few interesting and creepy art pieces, which may be one of my favorite parts of the whole experience. The horror aspect is there but didn’t offer only a single jump scare. I thought some of the visuals were great but the gameplay seems slapped on or EA, just fundamentally not enticing enough to try to get through and play more parts that require you to open your wallet. First run of this game I spent 2hours 50 mins to finish, and half of that time was spent on a single puzzle. This is only the first chapter of the game which they did not mention in the store page. I would say wait for at least 50% price drop. There are a few jump scares and the atmosphere is eerie but nothing really exceptional in terms of horror. I wish there's a neutral rating because the atmosphere is pretty good for playing, but there's way too much focus on puzzle solving to prolong the first run game time, and this is only the first chapter NOT the whole game. I'd say the game is about 6.7 out of 10.
Vivat, Ararat!
Nerve shattering atmosphere screaming with nightmarish graphics and eerie disturbing sound effects fine tuned to heart thumping rhythms of grisly psychotic malice. Needs a bit of optimizing and ability to set graphical preferences in options. My RTX Geforce 2060 was whirring the fans a little too much for my liking. BURN ME ALIVE, Buy it! Play it! Despair for what this grim work has conjured into gaming reality!
A horror game full of atmospheric puzzles and monsters - being presented in a series of parts for the full story. Enjoyable spooky mystery solving adventure with some achievements to find also. https://youtu.be/R4UpM2Wj8z4
