(Buried Tapes) THE PARKING
Buried tapes is so far a two-part short horror series presented in that granular VHS format from the protagonist’s perspective. The found footage in this one gives us the time stamp of Jun 4 1994, which makes this game a two-year prequel to the other game ‘The Cleaner’ which was released one month earlier. According to Steam store description, you play the role of 23-year-old Monica Jones who needs to find her car keys and escape an underground carpark. Problem is we have several enemies that we need to avoid. One of them is an unsavory creep of a man and the second is an automobile that is somewhat fashioned to look like ‘The Cars that Ate Paris’. Successfully fleeing the pursuit will reveal a flashback of a car crash 4 days prior, which resulted with one fatality, with the owner of the car missing and being identified as Monica Jones who resides at 356 Terrence Spurs. The investigating officer at the scene is then attacked by another mysterious woman. I have so many questions as none of this makes any sense. 1. Who is the dead body on the road? Monica the car owner is said to be missing so it can’t be her. She is also looking for her car keys 4 days later in an underground carpark before getting attacked. 2. How did the house change ownership? Mary is the one that requests a cleaner 2 years later. So, is Mary related to Monica and inherited the house after Monica died? 3. The other game informs us that 38 years prior to events in this game 356 Terrence Spurs was already burnt to the ground and didn’t exist? So, I assume Monica only owned a vacant block of land where the house once existed and now lives in an apartment building with an underground carpark and that is why the game started at the elevator. 4. What happened at 356 Terrence Spurs in Three Village 38 years prior to the events in this game? This US developer Isma Pal makes light hearted fun, playing around with found footage and creepy pasta storytelling, but like his tapes seems buried with no future talk of upcoming projects. So, we may never get any answers to the above questions. At least the game is free, has 3 achievements, and at least two endings that I’m aware of. All of which you can see in my playthrough below. Keep in mind that at the time I was playing this, I was unaware it was a prequel… https://youtu.be/dFOzrB611dc?si=MoyACDxr4yeDhp3D My Reviews: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/6843548/

A beautiful game
I found this game confusing.
rooom rooom Miau ♥
Very short. Was done in about 8 or 9 minutes. I would have loved a bit more to do in the parking lot. Monster reveal and end of the game were fun tho.
