The real world no longer exists! I was trapped in this cursed Village made of inkblots on parchment. Every day I'm stalked by an assasin and stuck in a time loop. None of the residents remember me, although I myself have memories. I need to get out of here ASAP

Reviews
Edit: The developer has revoked the review key he gave to me because he didn't like that it was a negative review. I'm guessing he will NEVER fix it. Nobody that has plans to fix something acts like that, especially when there was a chance for a change. Perhaps he can't fix it and he knew it, so he did the only thing he could.. He acted like a child. I'm commenting this because, in my experience, with such behavior he exhibits all the signs of "he will never fix it" so please be warned. And stay away. Unless you want to be looking at pretty pictures and read some good but incoherent dialogue (like ramblings of a poet)! Original full review: "Broken Lands Village" is a point & click adventure. You are trying to figure out who and why is trying to kill you (and kills you) every single day in a peculiar, beautiful and brilliant world, a cursed village, made out of made of inkblots on parchment. I admire the artwork, the writing, the mystery and the concept. The music was interesting as well! Its greatest gimmick is time manipulation in a way. You get to relive the same day, trying to figure out what happened, where you are, why and how you are here, who and why is after you wanting your death and, of course, how you'll get out of here! You do that through various dialogues, searching the world, finding clues, gathering items, unlocking new dialogue and ways to find items and so on. A neat feature is that each day you get to remember what happened and you keep your items; that's good because you have limited steps before it turns dark again when the night falls and it's time for you to die... The writing, the characters and the drawings are fantastic! It's ambitious! Why am I not recommending it? Because of the price and the execution. It costs too much for the gameplay state it is at. It's chaotic.. There is no real reason why some things happen or why they are the solution. Even if you check the walkthrough of the dev (in game), you might not make it and even if you do, you probably won't understand why. The solution follows no logical pattern that I can see. Which turns it into a clicking frenzy game with many "trial and error" attempts. You don't feel like you solved anything simply because.. You didn't. Even the simplest things (like the mirror item) are confusing and they lack a proper introduction or explanation. These, combined with some user interface problems, are the reasons I don't recommend it. But it has everything it needs to become a truly great game! If the dev is willing to work on the aforementioned problems, it can become exceptional! I hope to see more! And change my review as well. If you find it on a deep discount, try it. There is a lot of potential, great writing, good artwork and fun here. For more reviews, follow my curator https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44864435-Mewesome-Reviews/
First 20 Minutes Gameplay Here For me it really reminded me of Groundhog Day, where death is not the end but the start of everything. As for the style, the game really intrigued me, but after a while, I didn't really care about it since it really looked like scribbles. Later, I learned that it was actually the drawing of the main character and what he remembered. So, the main theme in the game is that you collect enough information before the night (death) reaches you. You lose conversations with characters but keep loot if you found something. In other words, in my opinion, if you don't keep notes for yourself, it's really just click and try and try again. I'm not going to say that the game is bad. It's just that it looks like there's too little information to keep going... or you just read the in-game walkthrough. This is one of the games which I wished there was a "maybe" button. Still, a thumbs up
First and foremost, the game is set within the developer's own universe. While you may play it without knowing anything about the setting or the characters, knowing the lore may help you get more out of it. Unfortunately, the books are only available in Polish, so the audience is somewhat small. The story begins with your death. However, because this is a unique universe, you become trapped in a loop in which you die repeatedly until you find a way out, ideally alive. Your mission is to explore the city, speak with people, learn new things, and gather items. You must do virtually anything to save yourself (progress is shown in your profile), but time is limited because you die at midnight and resurrect in the town square. No matter where you go, the assassin will always find you. The game requires clicking on icons on the screen. There are two types of icons: an arrow that takes you to a new screen and location, and a magnifying glass that allows you to study something. A few speech bubble and exclamation point icons can also show up, but there are rare. What matters is that each interaction with an icon advances the time by one hour. You only have time for 12 interactions. Until you find a watch, the time will not be shown anywhere except in locations that become darker as you approach midnight. Also, you must remember what you have already clicked because the game will not help you. It is quite easy to squander time and perish by clicking on an icon multiple times. The town contains several places, although not all of them will be available from the start. Each place contains many hotspots, which may or may not be significant. Another challenge is that some hotspots will not work unless you have the correct item. If you keep it in your backpack, you will have the choice to utilize it automatically. All items must be located first, including your main equipment. Aside from the backpack for storing stuff, you will need to find a map, a diary to record essential information, the previously mentioned watch, and a special mirror. The mirror is one of the most important items because it reflects how good or bad your soul is. Many hotspots only expose information if you have one or the other. You can change your soul by just interacting with magnifying glass icons. After receiving the mirror, these icons get a plus or minus sign along with a number. This refers to how much you shift the bar toward good or bad. However, you must interact with an icon at least once to view its number. This is a useful feature because it allows you to rapidly see which icons you have not interacted with. Another crucial information is that, while death resets all interactions, it does not remove your knowledge or items. This is significant since knowledge may reveal fresh topics while conversing with others. However, you can only ask a question about a particular topic once. So, if you do not respond correctly, you will have to deliberately waste time in order to attempt again the next day. Progress isn’t that hard and involves a lot of clicking, especially later when you’re looking for that one character with new topic that moves the story forward. Although there’s a walkthrough with precise steps, you can easily finish the game in a couple of hours without ever looking at it. Ending is a not satisfying since there’s no big reveal; all you get is single screen with a few sentences. There are also no extras or even achievements, so finishing the game doesn’t feel as rewarding.
