I've got almost 200 hours in this game and I keep coming back to it. It scratches the same itch as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for me while having the quick playability and random element of a roguelite. The dev team pushes out updates and fixes frequently, and you can see a lot of love in the design. Classes are interesting and offer different playstyles, keeping your games fresh, while offering a leveling system that adds more perks and the ability to add stats or trinkets that can carry over into your new games. I do feel there should be an option to have these also carry over to the additional units you pick up across your runs- the additional units end up feeling somewhat flat each run as you can only modify their stats on runs or add new cards- you cannot remove cards from their decks, and the perks you unlock on units as you level them do not carry over if you aren't actively playing them. I think adding in some ability to either carry over earned perks and soul stones or allocate stats to units you add into your runs would also encourage players to level up or try classes they might not normally try out, as they'd have more incentive. However, I still enjoy the runs- different arrangements of units can lead to new strategies and playstyles you might not have otherwise considered. Deckbuilding is also interesting- cards not only have their own abilities, but have additional items on them that can add to their effects, which you can choose to a degree- for example, a spell card that causes damage might also spawn combat items when cast, increase your defense, or heal you for a small amount. Playing around with builds keeps the game feeling fresh, and I like exploring different card ability and trinket combos. I think this game is at a good price point, particularly for the hours of enjoyment I've gotten out of it. If you enjoy tactics games and deckbuilders, I think you'll find Brawl Tactics: Origins to be right up your alley. If you like this game I'd also recommend checking out Tower Tactics: Liberation- it's a roguelite tower defense game, but by the same team, and also receives frequent updates.

Great game! The issues/bugs I encountered in the past were addressed and I haven't run into any issues in my latest runs. I definitely recommend the game. And if you run into any issues while playing, the devs are very responsive and helpful so that's a plus! :)
My first run the game got stuck after one of my units died to a bleed (i guess) or some other damage between rounds, then I got stuck on confirm defense for a unit that was already dead after the enemy turn started and they tried to attack the unit that is no longer there. So I'm going to have to not recommend it if I am finding game breaking bugs this fast.
Amazing
Did you like Tower Tactics? Do you like tactical RPGs? If so, why haven't you bought this already?
I started with the developers' first game, Tower Tactics, and enjoyed it a lot. I was pretty excited hearing about another game, and so I got it pretty quick when it came out - and I don't regret it! Brawl Tactics is fun and engaging, sort of a mix of FFT or similar genres with a "Rogue-lite" feel and a card system that works pretty well. The map moves on a sort of slay-the-spire format, with location choices being battles, shops, upgrade centers, random events - e.t.c. Multiple gameplay modes (though Campaign is still my favorite) mean a lot of variety. The developer is also extremely responsive and quick to update/balance the game. I have more than the 3.2 hours displayed played, a lot of it was offline during a week of power outages and this game helped keep me sane. It reminds me of the certain charm that Nerdook offers in his games, which I definitely enjoy. What you see is what you're gonna get, so if you like what you see...get it! Its worth it.
Loved tower tactics and i'm excited to see what the devs do with this great concept
its like roguelike disgaea :) and i love disgaea i would love to be able to play as the lizardmen im killing but its not a big deal
It's "Final Fantasy: Tactics" but a rogue-like, brought to you by the same guy who made a Tower Defense game "but a rogue-like" that basically confirmed any game genre can be made better with a fast-paced rogue-like spin off before Darkest Dungeon 2 asked itself that same question and pissed the bed trying to answer it itself.
I like it. Similar in ways to their other game, Tower Tactics: Liberation. Cards, trinkets. Mage is cool, kinda weird at first. Edit: I've played another 36 hours since this review. Definitely got my money's worth. Classes are pretty distinct and very fun to play them all. Dev has been updating regularly. I still like it!
