Horrific. As a 200 ave bowler... you can't call this a bowling simulation when 12-15 balls are gutter balls. Suggestions to make this an instantly better game: 1 - do NOT reset the play area between games. Play again should mean play again... in exactly the same play space. After spending a few minutes to get it oriented and positioned correctly... casually tossing the placespece definition out just because game #2 is starting is CraZy. 2 - The balls sound horrible as they roll... like they have massive chips missing in them. Interetingly, the rolls don't look to smooth either. They appear out of round... and roll with a tiny jitter. 3 - The algorithim for obtaining the swing direciton needs a LOT of work. First, NO aiming information should be taken anywhere NEAR trigger release. Releasing the trigger forces the hand to move to a different position... imparting wild deviations in ball exit direction. Only use a large, averaged set of swing data for direction... and probably dampen/bias it toward perpendicular to the lane. 4 - The ball should appear almost instantly back for the player to grab. You get no points making players wait. And wait. And wait... for a virtual ball to "return". At least have it as a "quick ball return" option. Perhaps combine this with item 5. 5 - Set/reset pins VERY quickly. Again, no points granted for going the actual speed of a mechanical device. At least have it as a "quick pin management" option. Perhaps combine this with item 4. Do all these things... and the game will be 5X better than it is now.

I haven't played any other VR bowling games, so have no comparison, but it seems like a fun game. It's not a graphical wonder, but the physics seem real enough, and I like the ability to reposition yourself with the controller to give yourself the (very) important space you need to swing a "ball" without hitting furniture. Plus it's free, what's not to like about that. Thanks devloper!
Bowling at the Lake is a real sports game that is ported to VR for Free. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. I used to Bowl some in my younger days, but was not good at it. This game does not teach you how to Bowl for real and does not completely replicate the feel of Bowling for real. It does let you try video game Bowling in VR, adding the quirks that comes with VR. It is Single player but you could play local multiplayer by passing the HMD to next player after your final score. This game could have long play value because it can be a challenge to master bowling in VR. You might wanna research how to Bowl in real life and then adapt that info to this game. The graphics are ok, the bowling alley looks like it is at the ocean shore with palm trees and sea gulls and wave sounds in the background. You have teleport enabled to move your play area and there is a rotate room feature. Might have to relearn and turn off your real bowling skills. I guess the physics are ok, but i didn't notice if you can put spin that works on the ball path. The game had difficulty exiting from it's menu, had to exit using SteamVR menu or Alt-F4 on desktop. Try it first, if you liked Bowlling games or real sports video games. This is the best Free version of Bowling in VR on Steam.
I'm going to leave a positive review because this game has potential. I love bowling, and this was really fun, but i would love to see this game a little more polished. I'm mainly talking about the stretched and blurry 128 x 128 textures throughout. Otherwise, a great time passer.
OVERALL RATING: 3 out 5 stars Bowling at the Lake - FREE People who wish to claim they put this out: WhirlVFX VR bowling game. Played on an i-7 4.0 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1070 8 GB RAM, 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD Positives: Doesn't crash, fully functional bowling game. Negatives: Shots are not fully accurate,have to often adjust where your at to get the ball from the ball return. Ball seems squishy when you throw it onto the lane (like a powder puff) The down and dirty: Jury is out on this one. Its Free, always worth getting, but will I play alot, at its present state, doubtful, but if the devs keep working on it I see this getting better! Thank you folks! Darkendone{LDH}
I enjoyed this. You can hook the ball with a wrist twist. Throw fast of slow. IMPORTANT: Be aware of your play space because when you extend your arm it can easily go way of your play area. Adjust your area within the game. Make note of where you are in the real world and recheck. There are some bugs. The ball is just a bit too small. I will mention that on the forums. Can't save your scores or get an average. Perhaps the dev will add saves and averages. Hint... Bowling at the lake is fun and FREE. Download it because its FUN.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Note for Oculus users: press down on joystick + trigger to select from menu So this is a functioning bowling game in VR. It's definitely not a sim bowling game, pure arcade. The bowling alley feels empty because you're the only person there. It has like a 360 photo outside that gives it a weird look with the inside, but it works. Fireworks go off if you get a strike. The sounds are good, but there is no music so it does feel off. The computer keeps an accurate score as far as I can tell. You can teleport around the bowling alley. I didn't try to cheat, but I suppose you could by teleporting near the pins. You can move within your playspace. So you can make it as realistic as you want by following proper bowling technique or do it crazy. It doesn't matter, you're playing by yourself. It does take awhile to get your ball back for whatever reason. The only real issue I experienced was the game crashed when I tried to quit. I guess it doesn't matter at that point. Rate 6/10. There might be better bowling games out there, but this one works fine for what it is, plus it's free. As far as I know VR Chat is the only other free one and that requires you to be online.
Bowling at the Lake is a free to play VR exclusive 10 pin bowling game. Gameplay consists of... you guessed it... rolling a ball down a polished wooden lane to see how many pins you can knock down. The alleyway is low poly with low resolution textures and looks pretty lacklustre overall. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all. Imagine a game so bad that it was made VR exclusive, in the hopes that would prevent people playing it and comparing it to professionally developed games. While this is free, I don't know anyone it would appeal to due to the low quality.
