Bootstrap Island

My VR headset has been collecting dust for months now, and I've been looking for an immersive VR game to get myself lost into -- and I've found it! Bootstap Island is a survival rougelike game set on a deserted island, and its gameplay loop is seriously addicting! Not overly complicated, and little hand holding, this game really got me hook! I love that the island is NOT procedural generated (at least from what I can tell from the first few hours I've played), meaning each new session will help familiarize yourself with your surroundings, and map out your best course of action. The graphics are lovely, especially the sunsets and fire effects, and look crisp on my Quest 3 headset. It's been a while since a VR game has had me looked forward to getting off work and playing again, haha. Looking forward to what the devs have in stored in the future :)

this game is scary bro

Game runs horrible. My specs are above the minimum and I can't even play cause it's so laggy and freezes and crashes. Don't waste you're time with this one if you're considering buying. Game is out on full release too and it doesn't even run ✌️😂

Definitely a worth it buy, there's a good amount of difficulty and customization that makes the game anything you want it to be. And the mechanics in the game are really good.

REALLY fun and beautiful game! lots of story depth and gameplay is awesome, however the only downside is the lag. You gotta have good specs but overall, great game.

Genuinely, 6/10 game RN. But the beautiful physics, the handling, everything. I'm desperately wanting more updates, because this game has 11/10 bones, and it's gonna be a beautiful journey to get there.

I bought this and initially refunded it due to my computer having a rough time. Not long after I bought it again so I could try it with an upgraded CPU. I’ll start off by saying I love survival crafting games. This game scratches every itch I have. Not only that but the game is visually beautiful and the physics based survival is awesome. I love everything about this game so far. I began the game and survived the first three nights easy enough. As time went on I made my way to the ship wreck. Eventually I started telling myself “okay one more night then I will call it.”. I did this over and over until I realized three hours had passed. This game will suck you in. That was only the first chapter.

I would recommend this but its not my cup of tea the game takes way to long to do anything it also says i've played for 2 hours when i've only played for 1 hour

Bootstrap Island exceeded my expectations and I haven't even beat the game yet. It is the most immersive video game I have ever played by a huge margin. My first night I ran, terrified, from snarling thylacine wolves and was devoured. It was an awesome adrenaline rush. Next night, I had a plan to get even with my pursuers. I leveled my flintlock pistol at one of the thylacines circling my campfire. In the spirit of maximum immersion I shouted, "AWAY WITH YOU, FOUL BEAST!" And fired. The vermin whimpered as my musket ball tore its flesh asunder! I gave a triumphant guffaw and reached for my powder horn... 10/10 experience! A note on performance - after a few minutes of tinkering I got this running great on my 6700 XT by turning the in-game resolution slider down and using my VR streaming software to reduce the field a view a bit. It still looks amazing; it qualifies as eye candy. I look forward to more of the optimization improvements the devs are promising. My hat's off to the devs on one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've had in many years.
