About
Neolithic Dawn is an open world VR survival game set in 10,000 BC North America. Play as a lineage of Stone Age hunter-gatherers fighting to survive a world of mammoths, sabertooths, dire wolves, and harsh seasons across five large maps based on real-world locations in the Great Lakes region.
Every animal in the world can become your ally. Feed a dire wolf to earn its loyalty. Befriend a mammoth to haul resources and intimidate predators. Choose whether to hunt or tame every creature you encounter.
Craft tools and weapons with your own hands using real VR interactions. Combine sticks, rocks, and bones to create axes, spears, and more. Every tool you build feels handmade because it is.
When you die, your journey continues through your descendants. Return 20 years later as the next member of your bloodline to a world permanently changed by time and your past actions. Your legacy carries forward across generations.
Explore five large open world maps, each with unique dungeons, wildlife, and campsites. Experience a real-time day-night cycle and dynamic seasons that change how you survive. Winter brings deadly cold. Spring brings new life. Every season demands a different strategy.
Neolithic Dawn takes place in a recreation of real-world locations hiding a secret Ice Age civilization. Follow the path of the Star Seekers, uncover ancient maps, and discover the supernatural history buried beneath the wilderness.
Invite up to 3 friends into private co-op sessions with full cross-play support between Quest and PC VR. Explore, hunt, and survive together.

Buy now. Play later. The gameplay is there but it's not well put together. I had stop playing the game because I was confused as to what to do. I had an objective but really didn't know where it would stop or where am I. The environment was as unforgiving as it is confusing. Couple that with ok graphics and weird shadowing that makes it hard to see lots of things as soon as the game decides it no longer morning and you get a game that has solvable technical issues that is better played later. I recommend supporting the devs because this game is definitely onto something.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF2gPwMaba4 On paper this looked like it was going to be a ton of fun, and I went in really wanting to enjoy it. But... it's a hard no right now. The main problem for me is that it's so buggy it's pretty much impossible to get through even the tutorial. Things I ran into include: - The character creation UI makes no sense, with it being impossible to know what option you've picked for some things (did you select smooth or toggle for crouch? Who can tell, it doesn't tell you, etc...) - The crouch button only works during character creation. Once you start playing it stops working. Which means... - ...the first thing you do in the tutorial is crouch to go under a tree. But you can't crouch. - ...except if you crouch in RL. But if you do that *sometimes* it will register that you've done that and move on with the tutorial, other things not. - Climbing is... okay I'll admit it's amusing. - I never managed to work out how to throw a spear. It tells you what to do. You do what it tells you what to do. If you do what it tells you what to do one of three things seems to happen: 1) the spear goes into your backpack, 2) the spear just drops straight to the floor (sometimes just disappearing below the map, never to be seen again, meaning you can't finish the tutorial), 3) on rare occasions it just flies off in a random direction that has nothing to do with the aim mechanic. - I fibbed when I said that the spear disappearing below the map is game over for the tutorial; you *can* just walk up to the deer and one-punch it to death. So there is that. But really, that's it. I never made it out of the tutorial because so much of it either didn't register or couldn't be completed. Meanwhile I did find it pretty easy to clip through parts of the map to get out of the tutorial area. Oh, yeah, and the spear throwing session took so long I died of hunger in the tutorial and got thrown into some descendent-creation mechanic that had zero explanation and made no sense at all. This then dropped me back in the tutorial, or at least the tutorial area, but without the ability to finish the tutorial (or at least the tutorial was super confused about what was going on). A game where you die in the tutorial and even the tutorial itself gets confused is a bit of a warning. To give the game a fair go I did try and wipe my progress and try again. This didn't seem to help either and it wasn't really very clear if I had wiped the data or not because my character appeared to be the same as before. I think, hope, there's going to be a really fun game here. This is why I've not refunded despite being tempted. If it can and does become way less buggy I can see me having a bunch of fun with it. But... I could not honestly recommend it to anyone right now.
Ok…this game has a ton of potential, and in the current state isn’t bad at all. A few things I think can be looked at or improved upon with the little time I have played so far: I love the cutting mechanics, and stripping a deer, bear, and wolf down to its bare bones is pretty crazy lol I feel like the hand tracking and grip/pickup option gets clunky. I try to grab something off the ground and it highlights then quickly moves the hand icon off…maybe have the zone on that wider? But sometimes I’m picking up other things I don’t have my hand pointed at…nothing game breaking but maybe tweak a bit. There isn’t a lot of direction with how to build specific things unless I’m missing a notebook or something on how to build things. I died from freezing cause I needed a campfire lol will play more and try to figure that out. Graphics look pretty good. Running everything on High setting with an RTX3070 32GB RAM and I haven’t seen anything buggy with graphics. Although I feel some things can be smoother looking, otherwise no complaints. Run wise the game seems to run decently…I have had a few burps and steamVR issues as usual…but resolution seems fine so it may just be a quality of life update in the future. So far…really fun game…I just need to figure out where this cave is and how to really play the game lol
I spawn without the crafting tool. Litteraly cannot play the game.
I really have fun time playing this game, even I couldn't play it a lot, because of interesting gameplay I even forgot about poor graphic (I really liked wolf). I got some bugs but it didn't bother me because I've seen that Devs really cares about this game and trying to fix everything
Neolithic Dawn is shaping up to be a solid VR survival experience, and I’ve had a blast with my short time in it so far. That said, it’s Early Access, and there are definitely some areas that need work. ⚔️ The Issues: ***Edit Nov 26th 2025- Game has been out since Sept 4th, what started off as a solid, playable early access VR survival game, quickly(not quickly enough) turned into a unplayable walking/ attacking simulator. The biggest bug that has yet to be fix is a core item not appearing in our holster, the Crafting Tool. This is the item that allows you to cut, break down materials, skin animals, sharpen sticks/items, etc. Basically the core TOOL to survive and progress in this game, and is inaccessible in most of the players game. I'm switching to Not recommended as this hasn't been fixed and its been nearly 3 months. ____________________________________________ The grab/hold mechanic feels inconsistent. Sometimes my hands stay locked in a grip position, requiring an extra button press to reset—frustrating when combat or quick inventory swaps are needed. UI overlays (like when highlighting animals/enemies) can get stuck on screen even after looking away. Audio occasionally cuts out completely until I open the audio settings menu, which magically brings it back. These quirks do take away from immersion, especially during tense moments when speed and accuracy matter. 🔥 The Positives: Performance has been smooth on my PC—no major issues there. Crafting feels intuitive and well-thought-out (though the crafting tool was missing from my right hip as the tutorial described). Hunting is surprisingly satisfying. I couldn’t craft a spear, but throwing rocks quickly became my weapon of choice. Nothing beats the hilarity of headshotting a doe with a stone and watching the body launch 15 feet forward. From now on, I’m a rock-throwing caveman by choice. The climbing system is excellent—your hands mold to surfaces naturally, and stamina makes you think twice before scaling cliffs you might not survive. The first quest (finding the cave and star chart) was a memorable introduction. The cave itself was brutal—yes, you can fistfight a bear, but don’t expect to win without consequences. Nightfall hit, I had no torch, and suddenly glowing wolf eyes appeared in the dark. I didn’t make it out alive, but that’s the beauty of it. Co-op/multiplayer exists (though I didn’t run into anyone during my session). It’s clear the devs are aiming to make this a worthwhile experience solo or with friends. ⚖️ Final Thoughts: Not Recommend as the Crafting Tool not appearing at the start of the game has yet to be fixed
Been following this development since the early Tik-Tok days, and to be completely honest I doubted it would make it to completion. The idea seemed way too ambitious, a VR game with massive open landscapes, generational changes, online multiplayer and fully physics driven combat developed by a solo dev in a cave with a box of scraps? But boy was I wrong. Not everything shown on Tik-Tok made it to prime time as far as i can tell (I haven't beat the game yet) but Neolithic Dawn is actually a full game with hours of content despite being in Early Access. The Good: - Being able to feed and tame every type of animal... They literally go into balls in your backpack to be summoned later like Pokemon 🤣 - Spear throwing, getting that x marks the spot on a rabbit from half a mile away is so sick - The social interactions, this game is 10000X better with friends online and sharing items comes in clutch when you are starving to death Things I Want to See: - Base building and pure survival mode... Fetch quests and dungeons are fine, but the people crave gritty man-vs-wild - Expanded crafting! I want more weapon types and unique combat techniques. Maybe fishing, trapping, poisons, ect? - More generational changes, like planting crops that grow over days or trees that grow over lifetimes. Stuff to persist in the world over time Its Early Access, I say just grab it cause its not expensive but if you wanna wait till more bug fixes to buy i can't blame you for that. But, you should wishlist NOW so we can show James and the studio we are interested and what kind of features we want added before the full release
не покупайте игру!!! дождитесь пока игра выйдет из раннего доступа, ну уж слишком много БАГОВ!!!
Я понимаю игра вышла недавно но это не игра, а сборник багов
