boomer grandma is pretty darn good as it follows in the way original doom does but has the nice twist of infinite ammo but with the draw back of working against the timer. while i find it first two difficulties a little too easy for myself i love the challenge that legendary demon slayer gave as it made it feel like this was the way to play. the cartoon look adds to the games world and gives it its own personality. also i love how each upgrade has its own backstory and effect. i think kurokumasoft should be proud of this shooter as its pretty fun.
i can't flaw the game for any technical reason as it ran smooth, looked fine, and i had no bugs. but on a design standpoint, this game is really lacking and i couldn't bring myself to finish it. every level feels the same, every enemy feels more or less the same even on the highest difficulty. every level is a series of square tunnels leading to a mob room - no decor, no variation. there are some false walls to shoot through for secrets which contain permanent upgrades which is an interesting concept, but with how bad the level design is, i just couldn't be bothered to keep going through the same hallways to look for them. a little decoration and less repetitive design would have been nice - i just don't want to play 25 nearly identical levels. there are two types of enemies - melee chargers and ranged attackers. there was one interesting boss that i got to which had a couple phases and different attacks swapping between charging and ranged, but ultimately it still felt same-y. some of the art is pretty funny looking, and i can tell some work went into this. i just wish there was more variation to keep things feeling a little fresher. ultimately i got what i expected from this
