BombTag is an unabashed, lazy ripoff of Bomberman (Copyright Hudson Soft/Konami, 1983). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. At this stage no legal action has been taken by Hudson Soft/Konami against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown. Putting aside the unethical intellectual bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept for profit, this is also breaking that unwritten law of stealing other people's game ideas... you should at least try to do better than the game you're ripping off. BombTag is considerably worse than Bomberman. The focus of the game is pure PvP, there's no single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the game. The vast majority of PvP-only games fail because they don't "go viral", and without players, or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. The game features lazy low-polygon voxel "Minecraft"-like "art", making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. A lot of amateur developers see Minecraft's success and assume it's because it looks bad, not because it had unique and appealing game mechanics, and they try to emulate the success without understanding it. It also happens to be easy, and doesn't need any proper talent in terms of game development/graphic artists etc. That's why reviewers are faced with so many of these terrible games with confrontingly bad graphics. Developers must learn that Minecraft succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The game isn't really free as the developers have their hands out for paid, empty/valueless "donation" customisation DLC, basically digital panhandling/beggarware. I can't recommend that. Especially not when a developer is trying to cash in by stealing other people's copyrighted game design.

great game would play again with friends instead of me on two pcs!
From someone who loves bomberman: 1) If the game is dead, then why not have a single player mode against AI? This is just lazy work cuz similar titles on mobiles have single player mode too. 2) Why require to create an ingame account with email?
Amazing game with friends, what a blast!

Met a dev. Very cool. This game deserves eternal gracefulness and longevity.
Joined once and didn't even get to play with the people online because they kept calling me slurs! Very inviting. Great game, you guys just let it die...
