What is "Bloody Sand: Gods of Assyria" (hereafter "Bloody Sand")? Bloody Sand is a singleplayer hack and dodge game with hilariously bad voice actors (I played the English version). The game, even on hard mode, is relatively easy and requires only 80 minutes to finish. The graphics are fine, but nothing spectacular. They look a bit like 2000s console games, as is seen in the screenshots on the store page. The music and sound are also good. The gameplay, however, as meat of the game, is rather meh. Luckily the controls can be freely configured, so I used the gamepad to play through the entire game and changed the controls to be similar to Dark Souls. You want to use only the stronger attack, however. The first level puts you in a fight against four opponents. Here you learn the ropes of fighting, which will get you through the rest of the game.. The two bosses ||King and Murduk|| later can be abused by using the bonfires near them. Between the battles you also move a few crates, which offer no intellectual challenge. The story of the game centers about revenge for your murdered parents, and around probably historical events in Assyria/Babylon. I didn't check this on history websites, however, so I can't give information on that. Bloody Sand takes only around 80 minutes to complete on the hardest difficulty, This includes configuration, dying a bit in the first level until I understand what to do (which took maybe 10 minutes), and watching plus hearing all the cutscenes. So, would I recommend Bloody Sand? The developer originally apparently wanted 25 Euro for the game (or 24.99€ to be exact), which is a complete ripoff IMO. For 2.49€ on the final sale the game can be recommended to achievement hunters or collectors of (soon-to-be) removed games. If you just would buy it for the game itself, sadly the developer shows promise but made the game a bit too short and a bit shallow. So the asking price in itself would be okay, but in comparison with other games it would be too expensive - I'd give a neutral option if there was one (with the sale discount!), but tending to negative, for which I want to apologize to the developer, as they seem to have talent, but also seem to be just starting out and would need to add more content to the game to make it recommendable. All in all, the negatives of the game being too short and a bit too simple overshadow it, although the game itself is fun to play through (except for the two short parts where you move crates). Recommended: Only for achievement hunters and (soon-to-be) removed games collectors. Others find better options for the price. Keep an eye on the dev, however, as the game shows promise.

I was hoping for a decent hack'n'slash. This game, however, is a soulslike wannabe. Combat is stamina-based, and your stamina bar is big enough for a few rolls and a hit, so you are rolling constantly, and then waiting for the bar to recharge- there's no flow to the combat. There's a target lock feature, but it only locks the camera on the enemy- the MC doesn't automatically face the enemy, and you strike whenever you are facing, so this can lead to some frustration, There's the option to block, but in my experience this just drains your stamina quickly, and then you start taking damage-though maybe there's a parry window I wasn't hitting. There are 4 tutorial prompts in the opening level, but I could only read 2 of them, because you're forced to fight immediately and non-stop, so it's possible I missed some game mechanics info. Your health items do replenish after beating certain enemies, so that's a plus, at least. The fact that you can lose some health just from bumping into an enemy, or get hit even when they are attacking forward and you are directly behind them is not so nice. The game features the prologue, which is an arena fight against 4 successive opponents (the last being the boss), and 4 linear levels. Each level features the same 4 types of humanoid enemies, and the bosses. The last 2 bosses share the exact same moveset and can kill you in 2 hits, so you're in for tedious fights whittling down their health bars once you figure out where their blindspot is that gives you an opportunity to close in before they start the next attack animation. I beat the game on Normal, but there's also an Easy and a Hard mode. Would probably not recommend Hard. The golem that's featured in the trailer isn't an enemy- he just clears a wall for you in one level and then disappears. The cutscenes are choppy and the English voiceovers feel amateurish (not sure, maybe they are better in Arabic, won't comment on that). The story is simple, but not terrible. Some of the art assets are indeed, quite nice. The levels are linear and non-interactive, but they can be pleasing to the eye- if you ignore the grass texture pop-in. You can remap all keys (except movement, which is WASD, and would need to be changed via AutoHotKey or something similar). Framerate was stable, and in my 5 hours playing I had one crash in the last level when I accidentally brought up the game menu while in checkpoint menu, and couldn't get out of the menu. It's a minor annoyance, b/c quitting and reloading brought me back to the checkpoint (before the final boss) For the asking price ($34 CAD), this game isn't worth it. Since I got it during the sale when it was 90% off, I won't say it 's completely terrible. If it does go on another sale before it's delisted, it might be worth a look, as a curiosity- we don't get a lot of games looking at ancient Mesopotamian cultures, and like I said, the level art is nice. And if you like achievement medals, this game has only 5 achievements, and there's an Easy mode.
omg greed game
Bloody Sand: The Gods of Assyria is an outstanding game with many long hours of play and many combat systems. The game features the most historically accurate telling of Assyrian history that I have personally ever witnessed. It also uses all new graphics and technologies to really enliven the beauty of Assyria so much so that I am buying plane tickets to Assyria right this moment. With some of the greatest and most iconic boss battles in the history of games about Assyria you won't be dissatisfied with Bloody Sand. TL;DR: 10/10 Bloody Sands 2 would easily go toe to toe with Elden Ring.
