BIG LIKE NO FRIENDS TO PLAY WITH
You Best Start Believing In Horror Movies. For Tonight, You're In One
➕ Typing; If you need to practice typing and reading skills, this game will do the trick. (You can adjust the typing difficulty according to your WPM) ➕ Survival Horror; You have limited resources. And while there's technically no time limit, the resources won't last you forever either, depending on your performance. ➕ Controls; Everything is done with keyboard; no mouse whatsoever. You move by typing, you shoot by typing. It creates a sense of vulnerability, but one that you can master. ➕ Movie Theme; It's a very clever idea to base the game on horror movie studio. ➕ Monster Design; The monsters look very spooky, and they feel like they come right out of a horror movie. ➕ Compact; Performance is good without putting undue stress on computer fans and it doesn't take much disk space. ⚪ Keyboard Only; Since typing is such a big part of the game, I doubt it will work well on consoles or Steam Deck–unless you can use a keyboard with them. ⚪ Multiplayer; I haven't experienced multiplayer yet. I played all scenarios on Novice+Normal Solo. ➖ Story; Most of the story is told through notes. But really, only the first and last stage seem to matter at all. Every other note is just stuff about coffee, takeouts or some such. After a while, I just wasn't excited about finding them at all. ➖ Usability; When I first started the game, one of my biggest obstacles was finding out that you have to turn off Safe Mode to progress. They could make that one a little more obvious. ➖ Dictionary; A minor gripe from me, and one mostly influenced by Typing of the Dead: Overkill. Most words in the game tend to be something random, like "uey" or "qis". They don't feel particularly fun to type. Of course, this could just be an issue of me playing on Novice WPM. Still, I think more acronyms could've filled that gap.
It's a decent game, BUT. The difficultly is extremely random. One level can be trivial to play and the next be ball bustingly diffuclt, mostly due to random food and weapon/ammo spawns. We played all the levels on normal in coop, the last level was just trivial with extremely long wave intervals and overabundance of food items. The previous one or two levels had basically no food items, so it was a struggle. There are also usability issues in COOP with typing, when targeting the same enemy. Since multiple players can type same words for damage a zombie, when one player types the word faster, the other player is basically forced into a "typo" or starting the new word with a fragment from the previous, potentially also wasting the scarce ammo. Doesn't feel great. Sometimes words also just don't appear fast enough, or enemies get very close to you making words to kill them go offscreen. The whole movement and fighting being done with typing is also can be overwhelming. I am not sure how you are even meant to survive on the higher difficulties, or even with just multiple enemies chasing you and you only having a melee weapon. The fact that multiple people cannot pick the same character means that in coop you could very well be stuck with an unuseful perk.
not just a good typing game, but the combat actually requires some tactics! It rewards you for choosing a different target from your teammate since attacking zombies stuns them, but it's tricky in the heat of battle. Very fun coop game. does NOT support controllers
