I found the LIDAR very addictive. Short and sweet. Could have kept playing for much longer, but a nice cheap couple of hours.
Scanner Somber uses story telling in a way that the LIDAR helps it excel at, this game uses LIDAR in a way that just makes mediocre puzzles frustrating, and blinds you in a place that feels unfamiliar. I was more focused on trying to find out where the hell i was supposed to be and instead of feeling familiar yet scared and lost. I just found myself frustrated at trying to find out where i am or why there was a big whirring machine in the room. I beat the game in about an hour and a half and would NOT recommend this for the price it currently is. You're much better off getting scanner somber if you like the LIDAR, or a game like Sensorium if you want a fun puzzle game.
an unique experience!
This game is awesomely scary! I recommend this game if you like lidar type of games.
That uh, that took a turn
Not much to it. Takes ages to scan everything and find everything. Plot isn't that interesting but maybe I'm missing something. Not much interesting involved honestly.
Never let anyone tell you that dots can't be scary.
Nice GAME recommended (if you like this kind of GAME Style)
I really enjoyed Blinded by Fear. The atmosphere was very immersive and tense most of the time, thanks to the great sound design, the dark and unusual graphics style, and the premise of being on a mostly (heh!) abandoned ship where some bad things went down. The anticipation brought on by the principal game mechanism that allows you to slowly uncover the environment that you're in was a huge contributor to the fun, tension, and eventually, terror... There are some interesting puzzles that ordinarily wouldn't be difficult, but when you can hardly see anything, they are challenging enough. Most of them require you explore (which is fun due to tension brought on by the darkness) to find bits of the solution, There are also stealth sections, and some simple (but only after you've uncovered enough of the environment) platforming. There are logs to find and read that fill in the back-story of what might have happened to the crew. There is no manual saving but there are autosave checkpoints, and they are reasonably generous in frequency. Passing a checkpoint even mid-level means you can quit the game and continue from that point in your next session. It's unfortunate that I had to say this, as it annoys me that there are many other games that forget any mid-level checkpoints once you exit the game.
DUDE!!!! OMG!!!!! It's like... I don't know how to put it. You got something special here. My anxiety keeps me from playing games like this normally, but oooh-weee this was worth it. Okay, it's 10:47pm, my nerves are shot, and I'm going to throat punch anything that stands between me and a locked bedroom door now. Most awesome game! Great job dude!
