About

Blind is a narrative-driven psychological thriller for virtual reality where the player is blind and must explore their surroundings using echolocation.
Waking up in a strange room with little memory of how she came to be there, a young woman makes the shocking discovery she has lost her sense of sight. Goaded by the sinister and twisted Warden, she must explore a perverse and frightening mansion using sound alone. By sending out soundwaves with a cane, the outlines of objects are briefly revealed, enabling the player to navigate the mansion, solve puzzles and uncover the mystery of what is happening to her.
As she gets closer and closer to the truth, however, she will be forced to confront her worst enemy--that which she does not, or will not see.
Born out of the Global Game Jam in 2014, which had the theme of “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are”, the Blind team won the Best Game award at the Turin (Italy) jam site with their entry Come to See My House. The team then began work on a full game based on this initial concept.
Built from the ground up for virtual reality, Blind will be launching September 18, 2018.

Learn to navigate carefully and cautiously using your cane. Send out soundwaves to reveal your surroundings briefly before they fade into darkness. Gramophones and other objects that make sound become lighthouses in the all-encompassing blackness.

Built from the ground up for virtual reality and supporting binaural audio and motion control, Blind is a fully immersive and unique experience that removes you from the world you are used to, and asks you to see things differently.

Where are you? Who is the Warden? Why has he kidnapped you and why does he want you to solve the puzzles in this strange and yet somehow eerily familiar place? Experience a constant sense of foreboding and emotional tension as you travel deeper into a mansion riddled with puzzles and dangers. As you search for answers, will you find things you’d rather not see?

This is a really interesting take on gaming in VR, imo an experience that can only be felt in vr. Super creepy. And a steal on it's sale price. I do see some people saying they are getting stuck on puzzles, but haven't hit any bugs for me, so maybe they just got stuck on the puzzle
Impossible to make controllers work. Using Pico 4.
While I like the concept, it does not work particularly well on my hardware (an Oculus Quest 2 connected via Link Cable). I will probably enjoy it more once I upgrade to a better VR headset. The gameplay can at times feel rather hard and not obvious, but also partly too easy.
I liked it. Some beautiful set pieces and a unique game mechanic, with a story that I quite enjoyed. Parts of it seemed a little sparse (just walking around aimlessly figuring out which doors are open), and sometimes the blindness mechanic made puzzles feel tedious. Play this when you want something brief, weird, and sad.
Blind is a psychological VR adventure that immediately distinguishes itself through one of the most creative concepts seen in the genre. Instead of giving players full visual awareness of their surroundings, the game places them in the role of a blind woman who perceives the world through sound. Nearly everything exists in darkness until noise briefly reveals fragments of the environment, creating a deeply immersive experience built around uncertainty, tension, and sensory awareness. Rather than relying on traditional horror mechanics or action-heavy gameplay, Blind focuses on atmosphere, exploration, and psychological storytelling, resulting in a haunting journey that feels both experimental and emotionally engaging. The story follows Jean, a woman who awakens inside a mysterious mansion after losing her sight in a traumatic accident. Guided by the unsettling voice of a man known only as the Warden, she begins exploring the strange building while attempting to understand both her current situation and the events that led her there. As the narrative progresses, the mansion slowly transforms into something more than a simple physical location. It becomes a symbolic space tied to Jean’s memories, fears, and unresolved emotional pain. The game gradually reveals deeper psychological themes involving trauma, grief, denial, and self-destruction, giving the story more emotional depth than players may initially expect. The core echolocation mechanic is easily the game’s strongest feature. Players use sound to momentarily illuminate the environment around them, revealing outlines of walls, furniture, pathways, and objects hidden within the darkness. Tapping a cane against the floor, interacting with nearby items, or listening to environmental noises allows temporary glimpses of the world before everything fades away again. This mechanic completely changes how exploration feels because players are constantly navigating uncertainty. Even simple movement becomes tense and deliberate, as silence leaves the player effectively blind until another sound pulse restores visibility. The game successfully turns audio into a survival tool, making every sound feel meaningful. This unique system also enhances the puzzle design. Most challenges revolve around interpreting environments that only briefly reveal themselves through sound-generated visuals. Players must carefully observe details during those fleeting moments while solving environmental puzzles and uncovering hidden clues. The puzzles themselves are not overwhelmingly complex, but the limited visibility adds a layer of psychological tension that makes even straightforward tasks feel immersive. Certain sections are particularly effective because they force players to rely almost entirely on audio awareness and memory rather than constant visual guidance. The atmosphere throughout Blind is exceptional. The mansion feels isolated, oppressive, and strangely dreamlike without needing constant jump scares or aggressive horror sequences. Fear comes primarily from disorientation and uncertainty. Darkness becomes threatening simply because players never fully know what surrounds them. The sound design deserves enormous praise because it serves both mechanical and emotional purposes. Echoing footsteps, distant whispers, creaking wood, and subtle environmental noises constantly build tension while simultaneously helping players navigate the world. In virtual reality, these audio effects become even more powerful, making the mansion feel disturbingly alive and immersive. Visually, Blind uses a minimalist style that perfectly complements its concept. Objects and environments appear like glowing sketches emerging from darkness whenever sound waves pass through them. This fragmented presentation creates an eerie and surreal atmosphere unlike most VR games. The visual design constantly reinforces the sensation that players are piecing together reality one fragment at a time. Instead of feeling like a technical limitation, the abstract presentation becomes part of the game’s identity and emotional impact. The storytelling is intentionally slow and mysterious, gradually revealing information through environmental details, dialogue, and symbolic imagery. Jean’s emotional struggle unfolds carefully over time, allowing players to slowly understand the psychological weight behind her experiences. The Warden remains particularly intriguing because of his ambiguous role in both the narrative and Jean’s fractured mental state. Voice acting also strengthens the emotional tone considerably, especially during scenes where fear, confusion, or vulnerability become central to the story. One of the most impressive aspects of Blind is how effectively it uses VR to support immersion rather than relying on spectacle alone. Many VR titles focus primarily on action or novelty mechanics, but Blind uses virtual reality to place players directly into the emotional and sensory limitations experienced by the protagonist. The sensation of navigating darkness through sound becomes far more intense in VR, making the experience feel uniquely personal and psychologically immersive. Few games fully commit to a singular gameplay concept as confidently as Blind does. Despite its originality, the game does have some flaws. Movement and interaction mechanics occasionally feel awkward, particularly when manipulating objects or navigating tighter environments. Certain puzzles can also become frustrating due to vague clues or limited audio feedback. The echolocation mechanic, while highly creative, may become repetitive during longer play sessions because players constantly repeat the same actions to maintain awareness of their surroundings. Additionally, the relatively short runtime means some players may wish the story explored its psychological themes and worldbuilding in greater detail. Even with these limitations, Blind remains one of the more memorable narrative VR experiences available. Its willingness to build an entire game around sensory perception creates a level of immersion rarely achieved in the medium. By combining psychological storytelling with innovative mechanics and unsettling atmosphere, the game delivers an experience that feels distinct from traditional puzzle adventures or horror titles. It may not appeal to everyone, especially players looking for fast-paced gameplay or conventional scares, but those interested in experimental storytelling and atmospheric exploration will likely appreciate its ambition and creativity. Blind succeeds because it transforms vulnerability into the foundation of both its gameplay and emotional narrative. The constant uncertainty, haunting environments, and deeply personal themes create an experience that lingers long after the game ends. It stands as a strong example of how virtual reality can deliver uniquely immersive storytelling experiences that would be difficult to replicate in traditional game design. Rating: 7/10
the best vr game ive played
I just played about 40 mins so far of this game and it's not like any other game I played before. It's very creative and works great in VR. I seen people saying it didn't work with the Quest 3 but that's how I played it. I thought it was a gamepad only game at first but it actually needs motion controls to play it right. Maybe it was recently added so all those who had issues before should try it again.
No, dyskryminują mnie za wzrost. Ale gra fajna
