what is going on
The yellows have invaded my restaurant and I can't escape, someone help.
"Bistro Blitz" is a godawfully badly made "me too" restaurant cooking sim... think Fast Food Simulator if it was made by 1,000 chimpanzees hammering away at a typewriter and a credit card entered into the Unreal Marketplace store page. It's clunky, unpolished, has laughably bad but still probably flipped assets... it barely even works. Needless to say this was a complete failure here on Steam, and we're just left wondering why so many amateur developers see professionally made products and say "Hold my beer, I'll rip off the entire game, only much, much worse, that will surely make me rich and famous!" What do you do in the game? It's your usual job simulator where you pretend to run a fast food joint only you'll spend more time trying to find a reason to want to engage with this clunky mess than actually playing it. Trust me, it's not worth it. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the rest of the quality of the game... a glaring inconsistency. And the game assets are all over the place, some detailed low poly stuff that looks straight from a Synty pack, others that are just obvious placeholders. There's no firm evidence, but as always, the biggest problem with asset flips besides the plagiarism is the deplorably low quality of the other aspects of the game, and even if the game assets are genuinely created for the game, the quality of the rest of the game is indistinguishable from that of asset flips. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. I didn't pay money, but I still feel ripped off.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here... another explanation for the poor quality of this game. The developer complains that this garbage, failed product isn't an asset flip, and that instead they spent a "huge" (probably not much at all) amount of work churning out something that's indistinguishable from asset flip garbage. Certainly, I never said this definitely was an asset flip, just that it looked like one. It's also completely irrelevant, but developers like this suffering from "Main Character Syndrome" never consider what's good for gamers. Plagiarism aside, gamers detest asset flips because they're garbage products of no value, just like this. But it's absolutely offensive to gamers when developers like this one simply don't care about gamers, just inflating their own egos by polluting Steam Direct with trash. So what matters is that this looks just like an asset flip, has all the same woeful properties, has all the same terrible quality, and that's the point, that's why gamers rejected this. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
not bad
