Billy Saves the World score is 6 of 5. Subjective Review This game has it all! Do you like role-playing where as you progress you are given abilities that help you along the way? Do you like adventure, where you stumble upon quests as you explore? Do you like platforming to the point where you are holding your breath as you make each jump? Now I suppose there are some who'd not like to combine all three of those elements into one game, but if none of those make you turn pale with fright, welcome to the complete unique experience known as Billy Saves the World! I can safely say there is no other game I have ever played that is like it, and I believe I have played more games than anyone in this forum. There were times that I laughed, times where my eyes got a little misty, times where I was actually holding my breath with my heart pumping into my ears as I traversed different areas. No other game I have ever played gave me such a feeling of accomplishment as I completed certain quests. The music is amazing, fading in at just the right time in touching moments, or playing with my senses as I jumped from platform to platform, my palms sweating as I white-knuckled it along the way, the sound of the wind blowing through the cave, the musical pings of space protons being picked up to the beat of Billy's feet punctuated by blasts from his rocket boots. Day and night passing that gave each environment a different look. Meaningful quests, conversations with NPC's that made me contemplate the topics being addressed, and discoveries that I celebrated as I saw Billy become more proficient due to upgrades. Clean crisp graphics, enough attention to detail to make you wonder, and at times scenic vistas that made me just stop for awhile and take in the view. I don't even like platform games, but the genius behind this game is that it actually helped me to improve as I got deeper into the story; almost like the dev nursed me along so I would eventually be ready for what I might need to finish certain quests. I've played it through twice, each time different quests to do, and I will be playing it through a third time! The main story, although at times challenging, should be finishable by the majority of gamers. A finish that rewarded me for making it to the end, properly defining what makes a true hero... and when I was finished, I certainly felt like one! This game has attained a place in my top nine games of all time! Well deserved!
The game is very easy to play and enjoy. Pacing and mechanics are smooth from the start and I never felt lost. I think the story and dialogue options are also quite. Planning to come back to this game and play further into it later.
