About
"A unique action-adventure game where every reaction shapes a meaningful story."
The green community of Rootbranch 12 is perched atop a mountain at an altitude of 3,110 meters, embraced intermittently by permanent misty clouds. It is built on a giant Oak tree! This small community has undergone significant changes recently. Often, the darker side of each resident prevails, making the entire situation go from bad to worse. The Oak tree grieves silently.

Can you save Rootbranch 12? Can your positive energy and light dispel the shadows, or will malice prevail?
This 2D side-scrolling game focuses on precision platforming, mental and physical combat, and perception-reaction choices.
Physical attacks on robots with an upgradeable iron crowbar and mental attacks on shadows with the positive magnetic field that dominates the hero at that moment, that of the heart or the mind.
Choose how you perceive the world, raise the corresponding perception, and earn points to improve your abilities.
Innovative reaction system: It encourages players to react naturally—either from the heart or the mind—without revealing their response in advance. Essentially, it forces players to predict their reactions as in real life, along with the irreversible consequences that follow. This encourages guesswork and inference, prompting questions like, 'What is my heart telling me now? And what comes to my mind? Perhaps I need more time…’
Features include an original soundtrack with 37 unique tracks with several handmade sounds, RPG elements, item collection and usage, unpredictable NPC behavior, different ways to progress, multi-direction combat, environmental puzzles, a day-night cycle, weapon upgrades, a philosophical story approach and multiple endings. Also there are 2 mini games, an addictive single and two player football and a slime ball game with 8 stages!

Reviews
I have played the game above 3 hours and i definitely recommend it to anyone who likes 2D side scrolling, story driven, action adventure games. Until now, seems very well crafted. Graphics: Its vived, pixelled and hand made graphics tint to different tones and colours due to the day night cycle. There would be a little more refined but they serve good on the game's mood. Gameplay: In terms of gameplay, i impressed from the variety of player's movements, including mental and physical combats, all of which give extra freedom and add depth. It sure takes some time to get used with the grab system with stamina and the game is challenging enough, but it is seems to be carefully designed with the game's world. Personally, it gives me the sense of precise movement which give a little more reward if it is executed successfully {cause i have enough failures}. The dialogue-reaction system with the heart-mind logic was a little peculiar at the start. However, may this is deliberate: This logic not reveals to the player the exact dialogue sentences which have to select in order to leave him to guess-predict his reaction. And some of these reactions maybe wrong and irreversible. There is also depth on game - puzzle mechanics and usage of collected key items. Music: I found the music soothing and well fitted, contributing very well on the game's atmosphere. Rich on variety of sounds also.
Interesting game. I would recommend to fans of this genre.
I'm generally picky when it comes to choosing games but I have to admit that this grabbed my attention. When I bought the game, I wasn’t sure if it would have enough of the type action I like, but I found that it does, whether through combat or the challenging platforming. Challenging cause it uses a mechanism for the hero to latch onto ledges, which reminded me of Tomb Raider Anniversary (grab button/ stamina) (the controls are challenging but responsible). The heart/mind choose mechanism has also grabbed my attention right from the start! Sure i'll definitely have a more complete opinion, and I’ll come back to this review, if I manage to finish it...
A perfect one-to-two-evening game. A bit of action, a bit of platforming, a bit of decision-making all in small, stylish amounts. Great pick when you want something light yet engaging
The game pleasantly surprised me within the first hour I spent playing it, and I felt the need to write down my first impressions. About story. The story begins with the hero (the player chooses his name) sleeping in his apartment when he seems to start a strange dialogue with his conscience. His conscience tells him, "Stop being afraid of change, it's time to rejuvenate your spirit!" And he reacts by saying, "I don't need any change, I'll do whatever I want!" The dialogue then unfolds on a deeper level and reveals some things that have hurt the hero. And that he has low self-esteem. However, it is immediately revealed that he also has a special gift. The gift of positive energy. With this, he will be able to help a living organism in this apartment that seems distressed, which appears to have the same problem as him, that of low self-esteem! The hero then travels to a completely new place, Rootbranch, to see for the first time a house he recently inherited from an uncle. Rootbranch appears to be a small community with few inhabitants, literally built on top of a huge oak tree. Following the arrival of a new company, P.S.T., this community has begun to show its ugly side. The ugly side of each resident often prevails and the situation is getting worse. Earlier, I had read in the game description that the oak tree itself is saddened by this development, and I had to laugh! But it seems that this tree, which hosts this entire community, feels and understands many more things… About graphics. I believe the game's graphics are decent, contributing nicely to the atmosphere with their pixel art retro aesthetic. The central landscape of Roootbranch changes constantly with the passage of time from day to night, which makes it feel organic. Perhaps the only area where there is room for improvement is inside Zeppelin 1. About gameplay. The game has quite a few action moves, and the first time I tried playing it with a keyboard, I regretted it because of the difficulty; you need a controller. Once I got used to the controls, playing with a controller felt pretty good. The player controls are quite responsive for a precision platformer game. And I say when I got used to them, because it definitely takes some time to get used to the normal jump, the small jump (shorter pressing duration of the button), and the grab and attack system that deplete the player's stamina (green stamina bar). The hero's attacks are varied, as they are divided into physical attacks with an iron crowbar and positive energy attacks with the heart or mind, whichever is dominant at the time. The reaction system is interesting because it doesn't want to give you the exact reaction you will have, but wants you to guess it using either your real heart or your real mind. Most of my reactions so far have been with my heart, but I would like to see those of my mind in a new game. Also the game has a level up system which allow to increase your skills through the perception points you have gained from your successful reactions. About music and sounds. So far, the first pieces of music I've heard, I believe, are responsible for the beautiful and believable atmosphere that the game exudes. In some places, of course, some notes sound a little rough, perhaps because they are not so well processed. The sounds are also at a good level in my opinion.
Not bad for an indie action - platforming, combat and choices all work. I especially liked the “heart or mind” mechanic
Gotta say, this is a pretty unique and interesting game with some deep/enlightening story. Excited to see where it goes. Bought it for a buck this morning with zero regrets. If I had to make a recommendation, for something claiming to be a precision platformer, the controls should be a lot more tight.
Its a quite interesting game. You may stuck at the beginning just watch the trailer and you will get it. There is a very personal tone here, and it shows that lots of care and dedication was put in this game. Its perfect for someone who is an self-reflection journey, and looks something different to play.
I’m about halfway through the game so far.It requires good timing in your movements and thinking carefully before every decision you make. It’s definitely challenging at times, but solving a puzzle or finally clearing a level feels super satisfying. Quick advice: THINK TWICE before every move!!!
I just finished the game and I can say that it left me with good feelings. The battles with the shadows were very beautiful. I also liked that you could react with your mind or your heart, which was something I had never seen before. I liked the plot and the meaning of the game was very powerful.I recommend it unreservedly.
