7.5/10 I have fun game
This game perfectly meets the definition of a flawed gem. And I absolutely recommend it. Best features are the incredible graphics and the obvious care, attention to detail and love that went into creating the environment. The setting is indeed stellar, and sets a creepy, dreadful vibe extremely well. There are notes of Silent Hill here, along with Bioshock and a sprinkle of SCP Foundation. It is extraordinarily unnerving in places, and it definitely got my heart rate up. Steel Arts needed to have a gameplay/QoL expert rework the UI, particularly the inventory and map, and smooth off the rough edges of combat. Nevertheless, you can easily get used to it in about fifteen minutes, and during that time, you'll likely be captured by the horror ambiance (assuming this game is for you). I enjoyed this game enough to play it more than once, and pick up 100% of the achievements.

Pretty solid game, the spiders freaked me out the first hour or two until it clicked in my head that they pop out from the boxes and I bashed their head in with a pickaxe which was an amazing feeling. I had some small bugs but the most annoying ones were the swimming pool which reset my whole map and I had to find everything again, the other one being where I went to pick things up and my game had a spasm and stretched my resolution like a group of people pulling a rope, which I solved by changing my graphics settings and back (It only happened around 6 times in 7 hours so wasn't too bad, just slight annoyance) Overall, would recommend giving a try especially when on sale. Solid 8/10
[/olist]
Spoopy: 3/10 Overall: 4/10 Good: * Side Areas were really good. * Boss fights were okay when they worked. * "Open World" was a neat concept. Bad: * Combat was very janky and buggy. Often monsters would ragdoll into the air after you killed them. Making the combat more hilarious than scary. * Atmosphere was okay but empty. Especially on the "open world" map. * Game didn't know what it wanted to be. Had different features but weren't hashed out well (ie: Inventory system). * Lack of tutorials for things like the inventory system. * Not enough monster variety which made it more repetitive than scary. * A lot of Monsters and Boss fights got bugged. * Story was confusing, could of been explained better. Buy On Sale where it is at least 80% off.
Alors… Même si bon, quelquefois, je me suis perdu. Traduction anglais: So… Some positives… But mostly a lot of negatives that end up ruining the experience. I bought this game on sale. And to be honest, I recommend buying it on sale, as long as some issues are not fixed. Despite everything I'm going to say, I want to clarify that I finished the game. ## Positive points: * The game looks very beautiful. Like many independent horror games that try to offer realism, except here you don't have that plastic latex feeling. Instead, you really feel like you are in a London neighborhood. * A great variety of enemies with different abilities (I would say around 10 / 15, not counting bosses). I admit that I also bought this game because the trailer showed many fights against different enemies. (Even though I never saw the puppet shown in the trailer…) * The ability to choose where to go first. Although, to be honest, I got lost a few times. ## Negative points: From a technical point of view, the game has huge issues… Making it almost unplayable, or even frustrating, especially near the end. * **First point and the most important one:** The game would make my mouse leave the game window very often. This caused me to move my mouse onto my second screen. And when trying to come back to the game, I had to click several times on the desktop icon or on the game, but each time it triggered a shot… (Which is a problem, but I will come back to that in another point). * **Second: The gameplay.** I don't know how the game was designed… But using the ALT key in a game that works with a QWERTY keyboard layout is not really ideal for AZERTY players… Because of the bugs making my mouse leave the game, I had to switch my keyboard layout back every time, sometimes ending up using an item by mistake. (Tip: use the batteries. There are way too many of them.) But otherwise, if the developer is around: please consider adding another key, like "3", since "1" and "2" are already used. * **Third:** The fights are enjoyable, even if sometimes you have to deal with enemies that feel like tanks. That would not be a problem if there were no issues with ammo or weapons. Examples of problems I experienced very often: the melee weapon staying stuck in the air and no longer being equipped. Impossible to pick it back up. The melee weapon or firearm disappearing, as if we no longer had a weapon. Meaning we could no longer use it. At this point, it is mainly caused by bugs… After that, I think it would be nice to add more bullets or cartridges, or even allow a bigger inventory, or a system where ammo respawns in some boss arenas. Like the theatre boss and the last two bosses. * **Fourth: The sound…** There is a real issue with sound positioning and the environment. Many times, I heard monster sounds that I couldn't locate because the sound felt like it was coming directly toward me. - Sound intensity. It is a bit like the game's lighting. Just because you have a beautiful game doesn't mean you should overuse lighting effects. Some areas are way too bright while others are extremely dark. Apparently, there is a night vision? I never found it. Luckily, I had 20 batteries. ## Conclusion: In the end, the game has great potential, as well as its universe. But I cannot recommend it because of all the technical issues ruining the adventure. Most of these problems eventually ruined my enjoyment, to the point where I finished the game in suffering mode because I just wanted to finally be done with it. But not the good kind of suffering. And yet, I finished The Hobbit on PS2, Jump Force, etc. So I'm used to unfinished games with issues. But this one… really annoyed me because I wanted to love it…
Just had this game gifted to me by a very dear friend for my birthday, after only playing for 37 minutes I have now told my friend to get a refund as this game is so broken, sound constantly cuts out and does not come back until you restart the game. As the game relies a lot on you listening for sounds this bug makes this game unplayable and apparently it is a known issue that has never been fixed. This game should not be on the store in this state and should be removed or fixed
The game is fine. Not great but I enjoyed it.
