not the same as the og arcade version but still fun
Fun modern take on the classic Berzerk game. Much more difficult than the original, but in a good way.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is not the way to update a classic. Boring and uninspired. I usually like the recharged games, but not this one. The perspective is weird and the type of artwork just does not fit the game. The trademark robot-taunting is also missing which is an unforgivable omission. The solid concepts of the original game are barely visible in this remake.
Short and Sweet. It's a modern version of the original Berzerk, which was the grandpappy of all run and gun games. Berzerk was a big deal back when in 1981. This version is serviceable, sadly it doesn't come with the original. It feels a little slower to accommodate all the new bells and whistles, and doesn't have the eerie feeling of the original. There is a reason why Scott Cawthon loves using Atari references in Five Nights at Freddy's. It's fine... all in all. The elephant in the room is that this game is easily outclassed nowadays since the Recharged series don't step outside improving the visuals, trying to hold onto the original gameplay with some few novelties. Take this review as a soft recommendation, but you would be better playing Enter the Gungeon or even some Newgrounds or Miniclip games. The only reason why this isn't a negative review is that the game is still very much okay, it is just that a formula this old has been done multiple times over in many shapes and forms but all those games owe it to Berzerker. This could be among the weakest titles in the Recharged series, but maybe that's because everyone had higher expectations since Berzerker is just as much of a classic as Space Invaders, so Berzerker begs for a modern revival to match modern classics like Cuphead or Mewgenics. For the time being, it's not bad and you can get all the achievements in one go if you wish. It is a nice and simple game from yesteryear.
kind of something and fun
100% the best atari recharged game, a little repetitive to complete all challenges and achievements but for the first berzerk game in 30 years it's very good and i hope this isn't where atari leaves berzerk either
I have a very fond memory of Berzerk on the Atari 2600. The sound effects were pretty cool, as well as the death animation. Evil Otto was terrifying to me as a 6-year-old. This recharged version is nice remake in my opinion. It plays a bit differently than the old version, but it's good. I recommend this game, because it is very fun. This remake was way overdue.
So, while I originally had a thumbs up review for this game, I had to switch it to a thumbs down. Why you ask? Because when I redid my desktop PC, I found out that the game does not do cloud saves and I lost all my progress. This is inexcusable for a steam platform game in this day and age and worth thumbing down strictly for that. "original review": So, first thing out of the way.... this game does not play like the original Berzerk as it feels more like a run & gun in the vein of Robotron or Smash TV. All negative reviews are understandable from that regard. With that said, it is a fairly enjoyable game with tight dual stick controls. If you can get it on sale, it is a worthwhile purchase; as long as you know what you're getting into beforehand.
Yes, I would like recommend Berzerk: Recharged for everyone.
