Berries Challenge is a small independent title developed and published by Hede that attempts to transform the simple activity of berry picking into a short first-person exploration experience. The game places players in a quiet woodland environment where the primary objective is exactly what the title suggests: roam through the forest and gather berries scattered throughout the landscape. Rather than presenting a traditional adventure or survival experience filled with complex systems, the game focuses almost entirely on a single gameplay loop built around exploration, observation, and item collection. The premise is intentionally straightforward, aiming to evoke the calm feeling of wandering through nature and collecting fruit in a peaceful setting. The core gameplay revolves around navigating a forest map from a first-person perspective while searching for berry bushes hidden among trees, grass, and other environmental details. Players move freely through the woodland environment, scanning the terrain for clusters of berries that can be harvested. Once found, the berries can be collected to increase the player’s score or progress within the session. The mechanics themselves are extremely simple and require little explanation—walk, observe, and gather. Because there are no enemies, hazards, or complicated interactions, the game leans toward a relaxed, almost meditative pace where the player can slowly explore the environment without pressure. A subtle layer of challenge is introduced through the game’s navigation element. At the beginning of the experience, the player leaves a parked car and ventures into the forest to search for berries. After collecting them, the player must eventually locate the vehicle again and return safely. The twist is that the game avoids providing modern navigation tools such as a minimap or GPS marker, forcing players to rely on their memory of the environment and natural landmarks to retrace their steps. While the forest map is not especially large, it still encourages players to remain aware of their surroundings, creating a mild sense of orientation-based gameplay that breaks up the otherwise repetitive collection mechanics. Visually, Berries Challenge adopts a simple 3D style that prioritizes functionality over graphical complexity. The forest environment consists of trees, grassy areas, bushes, and occasional wildlife that help give the world a sense of life. The visuals are colorful and somewhat stylized rather than highly detailed, and while the environments may appear basic compared to larger exploration games, they still provide a coherent backdrop for the berry-picking activity. Animals occasionally appear in the forest, adding a small touch of environmental charm and helping reinforce the theme of being alone in nature. The audio design also contributes to the relaxed atmosphere the game tries to create. Ambient sounds such as wind, rustling leaves, and subtle environmental effects help give the forest a quiet and calm presence. There is little in the way of dramatic music or intense sound effects, which fits the slow pacing of the gameplay. The overall tone of the experience feels more like a casual nature walk than a traditional video game challenge, encouraging players to explore the environment at their own pace without worrying about failure conditions or strict objectives. However, the simplicity that defines Berries Challenge also becomes its most noticeable weakness. Because the gameplay revolves almost entirely around collecting berries, the experience offers very little variety once the core mechanic is understood. There are no additional objectives, evolving gameplay systems, or narrative elements to maintain long-term engagement. After a short period of exploration, players may find that the activity becomes repetitive, as the game rarely introduces new ideas or mechanics to expand the experience beyond its initial concept. Another aspect that influences how the game is perceived is its connection to the developer’s broader catalog. Hede has produced many small experimental titles on Steam that follow similar design philosophies—simple mechanics, minimal content, and short gameplay sessions built around a single idea. Berries Challenge fits squarely within that pattern, offering a lightweight experience that feels more like a small prototype or experimental project than a fully developed exploration game. For players who enjoy sampling unusual indie experiments, this might be part of the appeal. For others expecting deeper gameplay systems, the game may feel incomplete. Despite its limitations, the game can still provide a brief moment of casual entertainment for players who appreciate slow-paced exploration or simple collection mechanics. Its relaxed design makes it accessible to anyone, and it does not require complex controls, strategic thinking, or fast reflexes. Players looking for a short and uncomplicated experience may enjoy wandering through the forest and gathering berries for a while, especially if they enjoy the calming atmosphere of nature-themed environments. In the end, Berries Challenge is a very small and minimalist exploration game built around a single concept that never significantly expands beyond its initial idea. While its peaceful setting and simple mechanics may appeal to players who enjoy quiet, low-stress gameplay, the lack of variety, depth, and progression prevents it from becoming a particularly memorable experience. It serves more as a brief curiosity within the indie gaming landscape rather than a fully realized adventure. Rating: 3/10

This game serves as a delightful simulator for collecting berries, offering a visually appealing experience. However, in terms of gameplay, it falls short and may feel like a waste of time for some. It's primarily recommended for achievement hunters seeking to complete their collection.

1min for 100% game, then uninstall it. Bad optimization, no interaction with the nature.
