Simple yet effective Tower defence game for all ages. Gameplay 9/10 - Really easy to control and navigate the areas. You have 3 objectives to obtain max honeycomb on each level. Controls work well on gamepad or mouse and is very easy to pick up and play. It will be a fair challenge to obtain all honeycomb though permanent upgrades will make this easier Audio 8/10 Some simple uplifting music is set to the cartoony sounding bees who happily farm or shoot away at the enemies. Nothing fancy but sets the tone for the game and what you need. One of the few games I wouldn't want a voiced character. Graphics 8/10 - Can tell its a re skinned mobile game but everything looks crisp and vibrant. Could run this flawlessly on a toaster or a bee powered contraption like the games cannons. Overall 8/10 - Had a lot of fun playing this casual tower defence experience and I recommend it to anyone who prefers a more relaxing experience or something more suited to a younger age group. The games achievements should take around 5-6 hours dependant on how fast you can mine the honeycomb. Good price point and a game worth picking up to support the developer.
Pros: 1) Managed your resources such as water, pollen and nectar to ensure your bees are well fed and prepared to defend their honey. 2) Even if you forgot or earn enough honeydew from the stages, you can pause the game and buy the certain upgrade you want without leaving and resetting the entire level again. It is a great and creative anti-frustration feature. 3) Simple and Straight Forward mechanics and controls. 4) Each Towers have their own unique counters against certain enemies and vice versa. 5) Colorful, Bright and Cartoony Graphics which is a good introduction to strategy games for younger audiences. 6) The remastered version has 6 new levels with new features and mechanics with a decent continuation to the main story. 7) Some of the bonus levels are challenging and introduce new mechanics such as Night Level as Towers aren't able to see and attack enemies unless they enter the light. Cons: 1) There is no timer to tell you how much time you have spent during the battle as some missions requires you to beat the level before the certain time. Some levels will reward you with a good amount of honeydew if you beat it on time. 2) There isn't a check list to show if you have complete the optional challenges or not unless you pause the game. 3) The level pacing can the slow at times if you are confident that your defenses are fully prepared or you don't care or have completed the challenges but fortunately you can call the wave early. 4) The game can be too easy and short for experienced strategists. 5) Towers' AI can be dumb at times.
(I got this game free because I have the original beefense) Beefense is a rts/ td hybrid. You send your bees to harvest resources in between waves. There are 4 resources- pollen, nectar, water, and honeydew. Pollen- Money, used for building/ leveling up new towers and spawning new bees. Nectar- Fuel. If it runs out, your bees will perform poorly. Water- used to give towers a boost, improving firing rate, range, and I think damage. Honeydew- Special Currency, used to unlock tower upgrades, beesearch, free caged bees, and buy ding balls and black ninja wasps. The Plot is that the bees have to find a new home (because a factory pollutes the nearby land) while under attack by the hornet army. Then it gets silly. Queen Hornetta is after the bee's honey.... Because she wants to use it to wax her legs. Yes, really, hah. Turns out she originally wanted honey to try and cure her illness after falling into polluted waters. Wasn't enough, and she went mad. ___________________________ What's good? ___________________________ +The 'cutesy' aesthetic is consistent throughout the game. +The music track, while lacking, is fitting. My favorite is the in-between music in the night levels. + Corny bee-related puns. Zombees, anyone? Rambee? Albeert Beeinstein? + 6 new levels, bringing the total amount of levels from 20 to 26. Levels 21-16 involves the Bees basically preparing a concert for vacation. The band playing is "The beetles". +Tower designs are creative, and have to be manned by a bee to actually bee used. _________________________________________ What's not so good? _________________________________________ - By pressing 1-4, I can change the time of day in the 'main' 20 levels. What's the point of this? This night does not work like the later, end-game night levels. I guess it's just for looks. - A bit convoluted mouse controls for using the dung balls. The game seemingly indicates you have to use the left mouse button, but you have to use BOTH mouse buttons. - Tutorial is a bit too hand-holdy, and goes on too long. ________________________________________ I would not recommend this game for primarily these reasons: _________________________________________ -Broken achievements. They stop counting after a certain point. I'm not the only one with these problems. >Technobee: Unlock all beesearch. Stops at 7/21. >A load of dung: Use Dung beetle balls 25 times. Stops at 9/25. > Not enough Honeydew! : Collect 100,000 total honeydew. For me, this stopped at 99,973-- just 27 short! -VERY grindy if you wish to unlock all beesearch. Best exemplified by the 'beengineers' upgrade. It makes sense why it's so expensive, that it increases the lvl of towers you place, but the jump in price is too high. Lvl 1 is 8k honeydew. Lvl 2 is.... 25k. Lvl 3 is 50k. Edit: seems like the aforementioned broken achievements have been fixed.
Не самый топовый TD, но поиграть чуток можно, 6/10
BeeFense BeeMastered is a quirky bee-themed tower defense game with a rather interesting gameplay. Instead of the simple TD format, the game will have you manage your army of bees and resources while defending your beehive from invading enemies, whether they are fleas, zombees, hornets, or wasps. I haven't played the original before so BeeFense BeeMastered is actually my first introduction to the game, but from the gameplay video I've attached, you can see that I've had some issues with the game.
The Cons
I don't usually start a review with its Cons but the issues are pressing enough that I think warrants the bump in priority. Problem 1: A level-breaking bug that prevented me from opening up the tower-building panel Not sure what exactly that caused it but at one point in my gameplay (@ around 28 minutes into the vid), I couldn't bring up the tower-building panel by right-clicking on an empty, buildable spot on the map. I had the restart the game as a result, though it is possible that restarting the level itself would work out the bug. Its definitely something the dev would want to fix, ASAP! Problem 2: No in-game timer provided Considering that one of the game objectives for every level involve a time limit, it is crucial to provide this info - in the form of an in-game timer - to show how much time has passed since the level begun. Instead, I had to pause the game and keep bringing up the pause menu to obtain this info which is incredibly annoying. No indication is shown in the game to let you know that you're either close to the time limit imposed by the objective or that the time limit has passed - a feature that time management games like Farm Frenzy have in their level design. Plus, I'm annoyed because I missed the time objective on one of the levels because of this, and usually, I would prefer to get all 3 objectives within a single playthrough of the level. -------------------------------
Watch me play!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3ZcRItF8fg ------------------------------- Problem 3: Calling waves in advance seems disadvantageous most of the time Except for the sole purpose of completing the time objective, it wouldn't be strategic at all to call waves in advance since you get nothing in return - No bonus pollen or honey dew... nothing that I've noticed at least! It would be nice to get a little bonus for making the game a bit harder for ourselves. Problem 4: Enemy targeting is an issue here I'm not 100% sure about this in the earlier levels but I've pretty much confirmed this by the end of my 10-level run. It's obvious that the towers are designed to NOT target enemies that are at the front of the line. At one point (@ around 1:27:00; refer to the vid), all my towers are attacking a health-heavy enemy while completely ignoring the almost-dead enemies who are in front. There isn't a way to redirect a tower's attention to target enemies you want it to target either in this game. It's incredibly frustrating to say the least! Problem 5: Allow players to select more than one bee at a time Not exactly a major issue but it's something that I think the game should have... that is to allow me to select more than one bee at a time. It wouldn't be useful when trying to get bees to man the towers but it would be useful if I need to transfer a lot of bees from gathering one resource to another, especially if it's urgent.
Pros
Like I said, I really like the time and resource management aspect of this TD, such as getting your bees to gather stuff in between waves and manning the towers as needed, but that's mainly because I already enjoy playing time management-style games. The challenge here is pretty well-balanced too I think. The game starts off easy but it ramps up the difficulty as you progress. I have never felt like the game is conspiring against me at any point throughout my playthrough, or requiring me to grind the previous levels for honey dews (not yet anyway), so I guess that's good.
Meh
The so-so parts of the game includes 1. The variety of towers and their respective upgrades - they are pretty standard IMHO. 2. The story is okay, but I get the feeling that the story might be designed and intended for a younger audience.
Overall
I'm a bit on the fence on this one. On one hand, the game offers simple and somewhat unique, TD fun, but on the other, it does have some pressing issues that I think the devs should address, such as the bug. That said, if you got the game free as a result of owning the original title, a free remastered game is still a free remastered game... so no complaints there, but if you're planning to buy, it might be wise to wait a while and let the devs fix the game up. Ima give it a thumbs up first I guess! Full playthrough here: https://youtu.be/P1qk7b7M2xI It's a pretty solid Tower defense I really enjoyed the music and some of the upgrades are pretty neat. The objectives can add a solid amount of difficulty as well, but if you just want to play through the game it's not too bad and they give you enough RTS gathering elements to keep you rather busy. I wish there was the ability to maze rather than just slap towers on the map and try to choose the best towers for the situation. Overall though the game was worth the $5.99 while on sale.
Sehr simpel aber dennoch spannend komplex. Die Bienen müssen geschützt werden auch im realen Leben! Starke Message spielerisch erlebbar <3 LG
-> Love bees -> Love tower defense -> Hornets made me rage 10/10 would play again
