Because the World Died” is a post-apocalyptic indie game created with RPG Maker. I find this game very interesting; it’s not a typical jRPG game but more like an adventure game focused on dialogue, world exploration, and understanding the unfolding events. It eschews fighting randomized monsters on 2D backgrounds with stereotypical jRPG mechanics. The story and the overall atmosphere of the game are excellent. The main character must learn about the world and navigate through a large town where one could easily get lost. This aspect gives me a strong positive impression and a deep immersion into the game world. It contrasts with big AAA games that provide a giant map filled with “?” or other markers, and where all quests are indicated. Here, you really need a good memory or a pen and paper to track where, when, and why. I appreciate that the game doesn’t simplify things. All these elements, as I’ve already stated, make the game more immersive and realistic. This is quality post-apocalyptic content. I enjoy the world and lore of Foxtown and its characters, who can be unkind, disheveled, and sometimes even helpful. Their dialogues are humorous, and I really like the abundance of funny elements in the game. When the main character’s sanity was restored because she played with a semi-domesticated rat, it was a delightful moment. The tannery was another highlight; I appreciate how its realism was conveyed not through flashy graphics but through NPC dialogues, similar to the Free Farms and other locations. However, the funniest part I’ve encountered is the Agricultural Commune; it’s hilarious yet very realistic. I must add that the combat mechanic is very straightforward, involving only the choice of which weapon to use against an enemy. There are various weapons available, but I recommend acquiring a knife as soon as possible. Therefore, I believe this little indie game is excellent and worthy of its price and all the praise it receives. I enjoy when a game is immersive and presents a world rich with atmosphere and intriguing content, which I love to explore and learn about.
A bit more complex than average rpgmaker game, with a clear inspiration from early grim Fallout style post-apocalyptic feel and few easter eggs to that point.
The game is quite hard at the start, and at first I was unsure what to do. It's hard to restore stats and it was confusing, but it's doable: you need to rest in a nice hotel room with food in the inventory and drink clean water. Playing with friendly rats can help with the Sanity stat (only a few rats are friendly, look on the roofs). I like that each character is their own individual, and I like that I can own a pet rat in this
A wild and quirky RPG from an indie developer that throws you into a harsh, post-apocalyptic world filled with interesting characters (most of them are terrible people) and crazy scenarios. You play as a survivor who has to make tough moral choices and navigate through dangerous situations. The game really makes you think about your actions. You’re constantly faced with tough moral decisions. The game sets obvious expectations about the plot, but then does something VERY different. I can't specify the exact length of the game, but there's a lot of side content and multiple endings. You might finish it in 6 hours, but it could take up to 12, I guess. You can also play as a girl! Just select this option while interacting with the TV (LOL) on the first map. However, "Because the World Died" does have its drawbacks: - Some language mistakes, likely due to the developer not being a native speaker, which may be irritating - Combat is essentially a dialogue tree with random modifiers - The game looks like it was made in RPG Maker, and while that might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it does have its own charm. While some simple mechanics might not appeal to everyone, its unique approach and dark, realistic setting offer a lot to explore.
Foxtown where honest farmhand life may mean slow death
Wild game. You can own a rat, buy a farm, poison ppl for your gain, and sell dead to the crazy doctor. 9/10. It would be 10/10 but farming is simple: plant potatoes and collect potatoes (but you can hire a peasant)
Pretty good story if you're into dark settings (save often!)
Jeśli chodzi o sam ekran tytułowy brakuje tam panelu opcji aby móc ściszyć muzykę w menu ( dopiero można to zrobić w grze). Jednak tytuł jest naprawdę interesujący i na pewno go dokończę
Longer than I thought, not a very long main quests, but many sidequests. Classical 90s Fallout 2 dark vibes, sad that this is RPG Maker bc it would work much better on a more refined isometric engine, and combat kind of sucks, but I like the vibes of this world and Foxtown.
An engaging game with the vibe of old pixel art games, perfect for all fans of dark humor, combines the nostalgic charm of retro graphics with captivating gameplay that keeps players hooked, all while delivering a unique and twisted sense of humor that appeals to those who appreciate darker, more satirical themes.
