This game is hard lol. Really good. Really deep. Good interactions. I finally beat the first difficulty.
Bearly Brave developed by Barbaric Games and published by Barbaric Games and Mecrew Games is a roguelike deckbuilder that wraps a surprisingly demanding combat system inside an inviting, toy-like presentation. Set within a whimsical shop where plush bears come alive after hours, the game builds an immediate contrast between its soft visual tone and the intensity of its mechanics. That contrast isn’t just aesthetic—it defines the experience, creating a world that feels playful on the surface but becomes increasingly punishing and strategic as each run unfolds. The core structure follows the familiar rhythm of the genre: players guide a character through a sequence of encounters, building and refining a deck of cards along the way. Combat is turn-based and heavily reliant on resource management, card sequencing, and synergy-building. What sets Bearly Brave apart is its strong emphasis on chaining effects together. Rather than simply playing high-value cards, success often depends on constructing combinations that amplify one another, turning otherwise modest abilities into powerful sequences. This focus on synergy gives the game a satisfying sense of momentum when a build comes together, rewarding players who think several moves ahead. Progression is layered across multiple systems, allowing for a high degree of customization in how each run develops. Players can acquire different types of cards, enhance existing ones, and collect items that modify core mechanics or introduce new interactions. Shops and event nodes provide opportunities to reshape strategies mid-run, encouraging adaptability rather than rigid planning. Over time, unlockable content expands the pool of available options, making subsequent runs feel more varied. This gradual accumulation of tools and possibilities is central to the game’s replayability, as each attempt offers the chance to experiment with new combinations and approaches. The visual design plays a key role in distinguishing the experience. Characters are stylized as plush toys, and the environments lean into bright, handcrafted aesthetics that evoke a childlike sense of wonder. At the same time, the narrative framing—centered around competition and survival within this seemingly innocent setting—adds an undercurrent of tension. The clarity of the visuals also supports gameplay, ensuring that even complex card interactions remain readable during combat. While not graphically elaborate, the art direction is cohesive and memorable, reinforcing the game’s unique identity. Despite its strengths, Bearly Brave can be demanding, particularly for players unfamiliar with deckbuilding mechanics. The difficulty curve ramps up quickly, and early runs may feel unforgiving until the player gains a better understanding of how different systems interact. Some encounters, especially boss fights, can disrupt otherwise well-planned strategies, occasionally giving the impression that success depends on specific builds rather than flexible play. This can lead to moments of frustration, particularly when progress feels inconsistent. Another challenge lies in how the game communicates its depth. While there is a significant amount of mechanical complexity beneath the surface, not all of it is immediately transparent. New players may find themselves relying on experimentation to fully grasp how certain cards and effects interact, which can slow down the initial learning process. For those willing to engage with this complexity, however, the payoff is a deeper and more rewarding understanding of the system. In the end, Bearly Brave stands out as a thoughtful and mechanically engaging entry in the roguelike deckbuilder space. It combines a distinctive visual style with a system that rewards careful planning and experimentation, offering a gameplay loop that is both challenging and satisfying. While its steep learning curve and occasional balance issues may limit its accessibility, it provides a compelling experience for players who enjoy refining strategies and exploring layered mechanics.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30uiEX2Q1eQ
Introduction - L'enfer au pays des jouets

🎯 Conclusion et Verdict

Note finale : 7.5/10
Statut : Disponible sur Steam - Développeur : Barbaric Games
very fun and addictive game. The learning curve at beginning could be a bit frustrating and not too clear, but once it clicks, you can chain insane combo. Some hoodies (characters) are a bit unbalanced and weak is my only complaint. Other than that, it's a fun little game. I love iit
Fun game but your booty gets smacked a lot pretty hard to get passed a certain point on normal
