I cooka da pizza
Honestly so much more fun than you would think. You get into it rather quickly if you're as animated as I am. Really wanna get a friend in and see how fast we can do it XD Would be fun if online CO-OP was a thing but I understand if that's a big ask =)
Multiplayer review only (I haven’t played single player because my wife and I play this together) Let me start off the review by saying that I enjoy the game, and will continue to play it. It’s a fun communication and VR asymmetric/local co-op pizza making and serving experience. The difficulty and progression system is hard and unbalanced. My wife and I also play the diner duo (another great game), but this game almost feels like the dark souls pizza version. I’ll list the grievances in bullets below: - No difficulty adjustment. At first this is fine, bust as you progress through the first 5 levels this becomes more apparent. Especially because the multiplayer experience is supposed to be shared (regularly switch who is the server and who is VR). In order to progress to the next level you have to get a star (3 per level) and higher levels require a total number of stars to be collected between all levels (replaying a level does not get you another star). Right now we just unlocked level 11, we passed level 10 a while back, but had to replay previous levels to get more stars that we previously missed. ———Recommended change 1: 2 or 3 diffulty settings. Whether that’s making the overal waiting time for the customer longer and or decreasing the amount of people/more complicated pizzas. ———Recommended change 2: removing the star system for advancement on lower difficulties (or all together). Potentially change the way to advance just being you make it to the end of the level, if up to 3 people (or whatever number) walk out, or you give them a wrong order, the level restarts and you have to try again. - Controls for the server are a little finicky. Maybe this is because we are using a controller for the server, and not keyboard and mouse. I recommend taking the run walk feature out all together. -we experience a regular bug where the knife for cutting meat does not spawn in the correct spot. To fix this we have to move the height slider up and down for it to wiggle back onto the counter. Tips: - Remember that you can carry up to 2 things, one in the left hand and the other in the right. Make sure you remember which hand is which when you serve a customer. -The server can also run or walk (we have this toggled to be always on). Though this feature is cool, at higher difficulties I find that you always have to be running. -ALWAYS have a pie in the microwave and put another one in once you serve it. The Pie is a feature where the server can reset the waiting time for a customer, allowing you get maximum points for serving their pizz or drink. this is really the only way to be able to progress and get enough stars for a level. -My wife likes to premake pizzas (just tomato with cheese) and put them on the counter to save her time for the next order. If a pizza accidentally falls on the ground, it will allow you to still serve it to the customer, but they will not like it and walk out. Just be aware. Also sometimes toppings will fall off you pizza, look out for that too. (Not mad about these at all, just giving some tips) Recommended mode additions to the game: - Pizza slice mode. Where the VR person makes pizzas and serves slices and now the server makes drinks for people (in addition to serving) Overall I think the game is good for the price. Graphics are great, but the experience can be difficult and a little shallow at times. I think some of these additions would add a lot more replay ability and open up the game to more players with all types of skill levels.
I do not recommend this game. I bought this game for my partner and I to play together with Me in VR and her on PC, but we just couldn't get it to work. The Remote Play Together feature is not explained and Devs haven't answered any questions regarding it for nearly a year now. This was the sole purpose for me buying this game. I spent a lot of time troubleshooting and trying to get it to work to no avail. I even posted in the forum hoping the Devs would see it and respond. The single player aspect in this game is fun and fast paced. Customers come in, request specific toppings, and your job is to provide a pizza with those toppings within the time limit each customer has. Very similar to games like Diner-Duo and Overcooked. This game has a very steep difficulty curve after the first few levels and it loses it's fun at a point. Devs have not updated this game in almost a year now. There is no free play/casual play with no timers despite saying they were planning to add such a feature as a reply to another review almost a year ago. Bugs and Questions listed in the discussions tab go unanswered and unresolved. This game has a lot of potential, but just doesn't quite live up to expectations.
the game has a annoying bug that make it not playable the game like to freeze and make you go out of balance i have a rtx 2070ti 8gb vram so that cant be the reason for it more high end games work perfect on ultra setting i know its beta but this vr and than these bug you can miss
Foncez !
tl;dr The multiplayer is really fun, and the game mostly works great! For $9, this was well worth the price and made me want pizza. You make pizzas/drinks for customers (in VR), and the waiter delivers the creations to customers in a restaurant (non-VR). Who would like this? It feels like an early-access VR Overcooked, but in a good way. In terms of asymmetric VR games, I also like Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes and Black Hat Cooperative. If you like asymmetric VR games in general, this might be for you. Misc Thoughts: - The core gameplay in Multiplayer seems reasonably balanced and polished. I found that it didn't feel too easy or impossible, but rather a good level of challenge. I felt new mechanics were revealed at a good pace. - Controls are reasonably intuitive and easy to learn, the knife can feel a little janky at times though (sometimes it spawned outside of view) - This is a reasonably good workout if you are playing for 1+hr. - It seems a core mechanic was finding the most 2 basic pizzas that were sufficiently assembled and stockpiling them to speed up pizza creation. This was fun. I commonly stockpiled mushroom/onion pizzas and added things as needed. - I didn't get too far into single player admittedly. Areas of improvement for the developer: It's a pretty good game, but I am pretty leniant when a game is labeled early access. I thought of a few areas of improvement: - More polish on the knife controls. (biggest gripe: make sure it spawns in a consistent place, cutting is usable, but sometimes its not 100% clear when the meat runs out; cutting needs more feedback IMO) - You should be able to toss the dough in the air (give style bonus?). The rolling pin is fun though. - Separate graphics options for waiter/vr wearer (if possible). On my desktop GTX 1660 w/ ryzen 3600: I noticed no performance issues in singleplayer at default settings, but had to turn the the graphics slightly in multiplayer to get better performance. I would have liked to lower rendering res for the singleplayer client to boost things. - More control options for the second player on the keyboard/controller, e.g. sensitivity (should have low dev cost) - Perhaps allow more than 1 waiter via networking? Would be interesting to get more of my friends on this over the internet (I realize remote play exists), but would probably have a high dev cost. - Allow repositioning/camera rotation of the player after starting the game. Lining yourself up with the arcade machine gets it about 90% right though. - Wondering if it's worth having a style bonus for pizzas (pizza has evenly spaced toppings, pizza is removed from the oven closer to the middle of the gauge). One final thought: - While playing multiplayer, my friend did not tell me they were delivering pies to customers in order to cover my mistakes. This was a really funny revelation to me when I discovered what they were doing in the background. I would like to see at least one more pie-like mechanic, but perhaps for the pizza maker :)
I had fun, but need an in-game setting to rotate the world from within the game. How about a lever on the wall? I know advanced settings can do this globally, but it's stupid to do over and over again just because I switched game.
Good game. The sensitivity is super high on the mouse, and if you use a controller, its super low. That is really the only problem I have with it. It works fairly well, and its pretty fun to play with a friend.
This is so funny and playable game. I tried the coop mode with my kids and they loved it even though they are not that into video games. :D It works very nice with Vive Cosmos.
