Pretty good game.Despite being late to the party I enjoyed the clone abomination gimmick. You can still get the game from internet archive when it gets delisted.

Surprisingly addictive! Mutation mechanics are very fun!
Beacon is a stylish roguelike that definitely deserved way more than being delisted. It's not perfect, it has quite a few bugs and feels unpolished at times, but it's undeniable that this is fun and has a lot of variety. Just by looking at the achievements, it seems there are quite a lot of bosses and endings too. I won the game on my third run a run that lasted more than 2 hours, luckily I got a pretty powerful sniper that killed almost everything with less than 5 shots. The world feels alive because there are factions, and they fight amongst themselves, really making you feel like you are in an uncharted, chaotic planet, and frankly? Feels great. I like Beacon, and I don't regret paying for it considering it is now free, would pay again. Good stuff. Give it a spin, you won't be disappointed.
The brilliant twin stick roguelike from Monothetic. The good: Amazing art style Excellent presentation Very good performance The level generation includes secrets! Mutation system adds a ton of variety Large number of weapons A codex to keep track of things you have discovered, including lore Has six distinct levels The bad: Controller support in the menus is weird Controller will continue to vibrate if game is paused while it is vibrating The ugly: Nothing! Thoughts: This game blows me away. I would have waited until I had seen more of the game to review it, but I have seen enough that I do not want anyone else to miss out on this. This is a beautiful twin stick sci-fi roguelike that rewards exploration. It is not focused on huge swarms in wide open areas, but smaller areas with environmental hazards (including cliffs, which mercifully do not kill you but take a small piece of health). These areas frequently have side paths, secrets, and branching routes. First, the most obvious highlight: The presentation is excellent. The low poly world is immersive and brilliantly crafted every time. Each area you go through looks very distinct, but is still made with this unique and beautiful palette of neon pastel colors. The music is also surprisingly good, including a simple main theme that nails the lonely feeling of exploring a dangerous planet. There is also some lovely artwork on the developer's website. Next, the highlight of the gameplay - variety. Every run will start with you picking out different "DNA" stat boosts to slot in, and depending on what you pick you have a chance to mutate your character. These mutations drastically change how your character looks and how you play the game. Maybe your character will lose their ability to dodge roll but gain the ability to burrow into the ground (and leap out of it). Maybe you will become immune to a certain damage type, but take more from another. Maybe your character will become slower, but gain stamina by standing in acid. All of these changes are accompanied by visual changes to your character and a fun short description of exactly what happened to you. On top of the variety in your character, there is a huge amount of weapons, and they vary wildly. You always start with a pistol, but you will find laser shotguns, rifles, automatic grenade launchers, alien crossbows, and all sorts of craziness. Each one of these also comes with its own description, which is usually funny. You also get grenades, inventory items (passives, including pets that follow you), and a pickup item, which can either be a passive or active use item. Between the mutations and the items every run feels very unique. The last highlight is the world building itself. Each run is randomly generated, but the levels are built very well. Each level consists of several handmade sections that are linked with either bridges, caves, elevators, launchers, etc. There is a ton of variety each time I have played a level, but consistently there are extra areas purely for exploring and finding upgrades. The levels each have completely unique visual themes and elements, but they all have a shop to find and several secrets to find. I am so impressed with the level generation's ability to create a sprawling, enticing map. A couple of points I wanted to clear up that seemed like it was criticism of this game in earlier releases - there is controller support, it works fantastically in game, but in menus you should just use the joystick to move the cursor. I saw some earlier complaints about performance but they are certainly cleared up, the game runs great and is smooth. If you are interested in roguelikes or twin stick shooters, this is a game you should pick up. This is already one of my favorite roguelikes of all time. Verdict: Buy this. If it is on sale you would be foolish to miss it. If it is not on sale it is still worth every penny.
Поначалу было интересно, а потом оказалось что это не рогалик, а просто твинстик шутер без особых идей. Рогаликовая составляющая не ощущается, забеги адово долгие, игра пару раз софтлокнулась.
This game was real fun, well polished too from my experience. Sad to hear about the end but it had to happen eventually. Best of luck to the team as they go their separate ways.
top-down-twin-stick-rogue-lite-shooter made of crack; the art style, the soundtrack, the way the game handles (keyboard and controller) is all great. there are some things about the game that feel a bit off to me (i have a hard time utilizing the grenades very well for example) but overall an extremely enjoyable game to freshen up my library. . After a few more hours of playing, I can confidently say this is easily one of the best roguelite games ever developed. It is simply a travesty that this game can no longer be purchased from the steam store. The DNA mechanic is so fun and it gives the game great replay value, planning out genomes for future clones to build the perfect run is utterly satisfying. The weapon variety is amazing, I feel like theres at least a dozen weapons for any play style. The items and equips are fun and I love how the movement feels. I was totally stupid with grenades before but I've found grenade mods that I like a lot.
这游戏挺好的诶 不过感觉年纪大了,玩这种游戏多少有种眼花缭乱的感觉 XD
Fun and quirky game, buy it while it's still available
