Reminds me of old PS2 racing games I played back when I was a kid, the nostalgia factor made this simple game really fun! Despite the flaws in driving and shooting mechanics and the simple design, I still had a lot of fun progressing through the different race tiers.
Battle Riders is a good game for its current price of about $1. It has a Death Race vibe (even though only one mode "Survival" eliminates cars once they are destroyed). There are three themes for tracks - Canyon, Outskirts and Metropolis - with 3 tracks in each theme, 6 if you count the reversals of each track. The career mode mixes these up a bit by having different race modes - Survival, Battle, Elimination, Showdown, Duel, Clean (with no weapons) and Time Trial. Even so, you will be seeing the same tracks repeatedly. There is some bit of strategy involved in each race, deciding when to get a boost, ammo for your weapons, or some health; and also between races, which cars/weapons/upgrades to buy and when. I didn't get into the single race or challenge modes as I had had enough of the same tracks by the end of the career. Also, by default, you don't seem to have to push a button for gas, your car just goes as fast as it can, except sometimes it'll just drop to zero if you're not pressing the gas button - which seems to be right trigger on a controller. I'm actually not sure if the gas button did anything, but the brakes (left trigger) work great for getting behind other cars. Menus require mouse & keyboard.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!
This game brought to you by the color gray. This racing game has lots of elements of a racing game with weapons but absolutely 0 charm or any kind of frills. I've played through half the game so far and there's not much besides about five weapons and a handful of varieties of obstacles. And nearly every course has the color palette of gray and brown. All racers are faceless, there's no story of any kind, there's no real celebration after you win. As far as the weapons go, there's only one weapon that shoots backwards and you'll need it because most wins are more or less effortless even without firing a single shot. So the biggest reason to get the boost powerup and get the mines is just so the race is over quicker and so you get some notifications that you've hit cars that you've left in the dust long ago. I took speed boosts and unlocked speed upgrades for my car not because I needed them to win but just so the race is over faster. Survival is the best mode because you can kill everyone and with the race before you're done with the first lap.
best race game out there
Had some time pop up recently and I'm going through my list of games and putting some time into them. Really wanted an enjoyable death race style game, but it is found elsewhere, not here. AI isn't good, there is no challenge, (this is an assumption, but) all the vehicles drive the same, everything has default stats between 10-12, and the difference between 10 speed and 12 speed is 4mph. You unlock vehicles every 16 events, each event is roughly 3~ minutes, meaning it's an hour per car. All you need is the railguns for weapons and you're set. There's a setting on by default that pins the throttle, which makes it feel like a mobile game, the only time you ever need to hit the brakes is if you wanna "tactically" get behind someone. For $5 (or potentially less), you get a brain off game with what seems like 4 songs, it has partial controller support so you can't just kick back in your chair or on the couch. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
6/10 Was pleasantly surprised by this one, well worth the dollar. Has a mid 2000s Hot Wheels vibe to it. The driving is snappy, no drifting mechanic is present. There is decent weapon variety, although some of the weapons feel much more powerful than others. Only three maps are available, so some level of repetitiveness sets in after a while. It took me 15 hours to acquire all the achievements. A couple of the time trial events gave me some trouble, but beyond that I found it to be pretty easy. The final 1k wrecks achievement added about 1.5 hours to gametime itself.
Corrida Sobre Minas(Terrestres).
