A Plants vs Zombies rob job that completely falls flat, partly due to having none of the charm of the original, but mainly because it tries to differentiate it'self by going for fast gameplay, a decision that doesn't gel well with it's having a really laggy and unresponsive UI. Seriously I've played browser games that are better than this.
Like most other reviews say, it's pretty clear the devs took Plants vs Zombies as a major inspiration for Robowars. So much that it feels more like a buggy reskin of the game instead of its own. The lanes, the resource gathering, multiple types of enemies, even the units are all copied from there, but with hardly the same amount of polish that PopCap used on their title. And to boot, while PopCap is still an active dev, at the time of this writing the dev for Robowars hasn't signed onto Steam in a year. An entire YEAR. I tried making a profile, made a male one. Wanted to see the female, a text box in Russian pops up. Try entering a name, nothing happens. Game is essentially locked up, had to restart. Upon entering again, we're given cheap dialogue with grammar errors abound, followed by gameplay that barely explains its quirks and mechanics. There's no details, no stats. No way to tell other than looking at life bars how much damage a turret does. Or how much we heal for. There's no explanation for how to activate some things, like the tower that supposedly powers up your turrets. Or how long it works. Or if it's even passive. Same with the PvZ Garlic clone; no telling HOW to activate it, so enemy soldiers took it down and kept going. The windowed / full-screen button is in the level hud right above the Repair / Dismiss / etc functions, not in the actual menus. The pause button is over there, no ESC key here. There's no reason given for why some units cost money, while others are from the resources you collect. Or if you get them back at the end of the level. Which, if they're destroyed, creates a limited economy that threatens you to conserve them, or just not use them otherwise. That's a problem in itself, though, since you're barely given enough time to start a defense layout (unlike PvZ where the ramp up was well done) before enemies swarm you. So you HAVE to use your limited use units, from your extremely small (5 cards up to the 9th or 10th stage before I quit) selected hand to take down waves that don't stop. Eventually you can get up a defense, but at that point the game becomes a Repair spam city as your turrets and units do mystery damage to enemy units whose own details are scant at best. And all of this is wrapped up in a sci-fi military tone too blasé to care about. Do yourselves a favor, Comrades. Skip Robowars, go get PvZ if you haven't already, and play a good tower defense game.
Бестолковый клон "Plants vs Zombies" про роботов. Графика - пиксели в отпуске, музыка - 3 ноты на репите, гринд - бесконечный, достижения и русский язык отсутствуют. Полный набор для того, чтобы не запускать это.
Calling it "in the vein" of Plant vs Zombies is an understatement it's basically PvZ but with robots instead of the original aesthetic, I was quite surprised how everything is basically PvZ, the income system, the lane system, even showing the enemies in the beginning, AND even the warnings my issues: like usual, clunky interface, can't change option during battle, can't pause(there's a pause button in the menu but it's gibberish?), no window mode

Robowars is a nice game. I like the artstyle. Here's some background story: https://www.pcgamer.com/strange-things-began-to-happenhow-a-ukrainian-indie-studio-saved-its-old-game-from-the-kiss-of-death/ 🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟦⭐️🟦🟦🟦🟦⭐️🟦🟦🟦🟦⭐️🟦 🟦⭐️⭐️🟦🟦⭐️⭐️⭐️🟦🟦⭐️⭐️🟦 🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦⭐️⭐️⭐️🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦 🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦⭐️⭐️⭐️🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦 🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦🟦⭐️🟦🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦 🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦🟦⭐️🟦🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦 🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦🟦⭐️🟦🟦⭐️🟦⭐️🟦 🟨⭐⭐🟨🟨⭐⭐⭐🟨🟨⭐⭐🟨 🟨⭐🟨⭐⭐🟨🟨🟨⭐⭐🟨⭐🟨 🟨⭐🟨🟨⭐⭐🟨⭐⭐🟨🟨⭐🟨 🟨⭐🟨🟨⭐🟨⭐🟨⭐🟨🟨⭐🟨 🟨⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨⭐⭐⭐🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨⭐🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨
Robowars concept is a lot like Plants vs Zombies, except all the towers, dialect and just … all of its content is a low budget, choppy, rip-off of the latter. There’s no story, lack of options (I.e Pause) in-game and the menu, and the dialogues are made up of crappy English translations. The tutorial doesn’t cover all of the later characters unlocked either. The graphics are probably the only decent content for Robowars. That doesn't make up for the flaws stated above, and how minimal the animations and effects looks in-game. Plants vs Zombies is way cheaper than Robowars, on the Steam store. There are better TD games online, that are free too.
This is a clone of Plants vs Zombies, but with some of new ideas. One of them is dividing units onto disposal and non-disposal ones, and two types of in-game currency. This game looks good, and music is quite good too. But this is only true for the first 2/3 of the game. Last levels are terrible. And by terrible I mean it's hardly playable - there is too much SH...T happening on the screen and I could barely see what to do. Also it's getting incredibly hard on last levels. On the last level two large destroyers appear at once, destroying two rows of your defense, and if you build something in their way - they just destroy it by simple touching it. I had a wish to complete all levels with maximum rating, and I already wasted too much time and effort so I decided to use a trick. I managed to complete last level by slowing the game down to 30% of its natural speed - this way I managed to take many actions per second, and slower enemy movement allowed me to see something in that mess. Also, note, that to beat second part of the game you will need to grind A LOT. Top units cost money, so if you can't beat the level - you must grind previous levels for about an hour to purchase more heavy units and make another try. Thankfully, if your disposal units do not die (regardless of winning / losing / restarting) - they remain in your "inventory" and you can use them again. I hate pointless grinding, so I used hacks to obtain money, and it took me 20 hours to beat the game. If I had to grind money - it would have taken 50 hours or more, which is too much for a game like this. And the most frustrating thing... There is a story, it's driven by text description of every mission. But when you complete the last of them - it just... ends. No final video, hell, there is no text, no congratulations - nothing, you just finish the incredibly difficult last level and look at he map but nothing happens. Yon can't even return to main menu - ALT+F4 is the only way out. I won, yay! :( My grade to this game is: first 1/3 of the game: 9 points second third of the game: 6 points last third of the game: 0 points TOTAL: 5 points (or 50%) Only buy it if you love grinding, or if you really want to play something like sci-fi PVZ.
Very poor quality mobile style strategy game. Fugly, clunky, and just plain boring. Hard pass on this one.
