Just leaving the review to let others know - YOU CAN NOT BUILD ROBOTS IN THE GAME. Tickercad is a separate piece of free-software for CAD by AutoDesk.
For anybody who is a big fan of BattleBots, this is the best combat robotics game you can find on Steam. The graphics are incredible and the physics are epic... but they do have a problem. Idea to Developers for An Update: The damage physics are great, and i turn mine all the way up and my game somehow doesn't lag. The problem is the fact that only the wheels can come clean off. So what would make the physics better is if stuff like the weapon and bigger armor pieces could come off so it's a little more realistic. Other than that, this is a must-play for BattleBot fans. (just like me)
Very fun with workshop included; obviously I'm no engineer, so there's no way I'm going to be making a battlebot of my own but please keep having fun and being creative in this game because I am a biggo fanno
greatest game of all time never give up pls add damage (pieces come off) and some bugs like if u have a spinner and spyder flipper is retracting if u hit him then he crushes u then u and him go flying can u fix those bugs but DONT GIVE UP HATERS GONNA HATE BUT PUSH THRU SO MUCH POTIENTIAL (i suck at spelling lol) Peace out 8 town- da-na-da-na-na-na-na-na
25 Year virtual robotics veteran here (Robot Arena 1 & 2; Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction; Roboforge; Battlebots & Robot Wars for Nintendo, and a dozen or so games that came and went so fast I didn't catch their names). In the 00's I spent an INSANE number of hours building, programming, and running bots, including in asynchronous tournaments that didn't require broadband. Let's get this out of the way: YES Robot Arena 2 was an all-time classic, but it's gone now and it's not coming back. Sorry. What Robot Arena 2 *lacked* was a means to download new bots and have the A.I. control them. Yes, RA2 had a lot of different events and arenas, but it did get kind of old fighting the same bots all the time back in the days when most of us were on dialup and couldn't play online. Robot Wars was also a fun game, but once you learned a) how to drive and b) that wedges *always* win, it lost its luster. So here's the thing: yes, you *do* need a (FREE and web-based) CAD program to make your own robots for Battle RC. But you know what? You don't even need that. There are more than *TWO HUNDRED* bots (as of now, with more every week) that you can download, fight against, AND DRIVE. If you have an idea for a bot, I'll bet someone has already beat you to it and uploaded it for you to use. This is a HUGE improvement over RA2. Battle RC has a terrific selection of arenas: the current BB arena, the classic 1999 BB arena, the tabletop arena, the warehouse arena, the school gym arena, a "pit" arena (similar to RW), and a lot more. You can run 2, 3, and 4 round tournaments -- and with the plethora of user-made bots available, the myriad combinations are staggering. AND the game is still being updated. Just this morning there was a new update that *greatly* compressed the size of downloaded bot files (my stored bots went from 2.5 GB to around 875 MB). Just do it. If you still feel that old RA itch, Battle RC will scratch it for you.
EDITED REVIEW, APRIL 3 2025: Battle RC has significantly improved since I first reviewed it. It runs better (certain very complicated/unoptimized Workshop bots will still cause lag), the camera is better, and there's an actual destruction system now. You still can't outright break or tear off an opponent's weapon, but you can take chunks out of it. This doesn't appear to do anything to spinners (spinners will lose chunks of their weapon but aren't unbalanced, so it's just for show). It might affect flippers (as in, taking pieces off the front of the flipper actually makes it harder for them to get underneath) but I'm not sure. Either way, it looks cool. I also really appreciate the "Unstick" button to get a do-over for a robot getting high-centered without resetting the entire fight. Overall, quite pleased with how things are going with development. There's potential here for more modes and features. One thing I would really enjoy seeing is additional options for tournaments, such as doing three-way, four-way, and 2-on-2 matches instead of only one on one. Also, kind of a pipe dream due to robot loading times probably causing issues with it, but one idea I'd love to see would be some kind of continuous Battle Royale with new robots spawning in as existing ones are defeated, like a robot version of a Royal Rumble. You could either try to last as long as possible with one bot, or else you could take control of another bot once your current one is destroyed. I think this would especially be a fun way to add longevity to arenas like Lava which are otherwise doomed to host five-second fights forever due to their tiny size and the ease of which bots tumble off the sides. Can we get spikes as a weapon in the future, like of the pneumatic, punching variety? Also, grabbers tend to make the physics explode whenever they grab something. Great fun, though. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Fun little game. As a longtime Robot Arena 2 player, I'll make note of some major differences here from that title. These differences don't necessarily make Battle RC worse, just different. You play it differently from Robot Arena 2 and it needs unique strategies. I find it to be much more difficult, probably because of the quality of the opposition compared to how easily outgunned Robot Arena 2 opponents usually are, even with mods to improve them like DSL. * The only parts that ever seem to fall off are wheels. You can't remove an opponent's weapon. * Weapons never seem to break, either. * Weapons CAN be deformed through damage, however, and with hammers and flippers this can result in the mechanism lifting some or all of the wheels off the ground and making the robot almost immobile. * Due to no parts besides wheels ever falling off, robots have a universal health bar for being struck anywhere, meaning defensive plows are pretty much useless aside from their shape, since they don't protect the bot, and you can't shield your body from damage if you try to use strategies like sacrificially jamming your opponent's weapon with your own weapon. * You can have a lifter! (Lifters didn't really work right in Robot Arena 2 for some reason, if you wanted to topple your opponent you had to use a flipper, not a slow and controlled lifter.) One thing that is definitely similar to Robot Arena 2 (and, often, real life), though: Control bots like Barricade (a personal favorite) aren't going to defeat spinners unless they get a ring-out or the opponent is trapped/stuck. They can only earn points by using the hazards. Hazards are pretty strong in this game though and many of the arenas have instant death pits. Been having some trouble with the camera, it's difficult to follow the action with some of the positions it takes. Robot Arena 2's camera is better. I'm talking about the default camera, though - there are camera settings I haven't tried yet so I'll mess around with those and see if it helps. Can't speak for the bot building as I have never used TinkerCAD, but there's a bunch of great bots in the Workshop including some very nice-looking replicas. There is an odd but welcome emphasis on really obscure robots that competed once and then vanished forever like Escape Velocity and Bucktooth Burl instead of famous and popular robots that won championships or competed for many years. This is genuinely fun, gives those oddities a spotlight that they didn't have in real life. Thanks, builders! My biggest criticism is that sometimes the action freezes for a few seconds, usually when a spinner is about to get a big hit and especially in spinner vs spinner matches. This seems to be the engine trying to figure out what to do about the physics nightmare coming its' way as the bots intersect. Would appreciate that being smoothed over in an update in the future if possible. I'll probably keep playing Robot Arena 2 for the satisfaction of dismantling an opponent piece by piece, but this game is solid and has potential to be very good with further updates. We could always use more robot combat video games.

This game is great if you're struggling with manic-depression during a midlife crisis. Five out of five stars!
This is the game I was searching for. If you were a fan of Battlebots or Robotwars, then this game is for you. You need access to a separate program to make your own bots. But the bots available are great, and there are lots to download on the workshop. Great combat, great physics, great game overall.
This game is one of the best games for a robot combat game. As it isn't very in-depth compared to other games when building your bot. The updates are always making this game better and better. (One of the updates just added an entirely new damage system) Just please note that they are not a big corporation so updates don't come out very often. It has simple stock bots which can be fun already but the workshop has MANY good bots out there. You can create your own bots but it will require a simple free cad software. Once you figure it out though it is super fun. The community is very helpful so figuring CAD and importing is very simple and easy. (Guides tab will show) This game does have some issues though, as it's health bar system is greatly out of balance. Most of the times a lifter bot will win fights just through damage. No not a flipper, a lifter. It will end fights very fast and sometimes not make much sense. Along with the health bar issues there is an issue with getting stuck in unrealistic positions. Be careful as that candy bar wrapper on the ground will get you stuck. The game also will give undercutter horizontal spinners a very hard time for hitting hard. There is almost no way to get a big hit with one without hitting a wheel. This is something I would highly recommend getting even with it's issues especially for the price if you're a beginner or more experienced in the world of combat robotics.
