It is an okay game. Could have been so much more. In my opinion it would have been better if all the characters actually speak to you while telling their story in story mode. The text is pretty boring. And I think if every character (including the main character we play) could talk, it would have been more realistically and you'd actually listen to the story. But I guess it was too much effort or whatsoever. I am a bit unsatisfied that you can't choose from male and female for your character, maybe it makes sense in the story mode but why not in the arcade one? A mechanic was shown to us that we actually have to proof if the customers are at the legal age to drink the alcoholic beverages, but it was not use for more than once in the beginning. Also in my opinion the game has left so much potential without the above mentioned and without having the multiplayer option, at least for the arcade mode. And yes besides the story mode you can also play arcade mode. Arcade mode is where you own your own bar and you can actually upgrade your location, for example into a lounge. It is more competitive and with more varieties by ordered drinks. And there is also a sandbox mode, where you have to create the beverages in specific times in order to get a badge. The money we earn in story mode is almost unessecary, because you can't buy much. Some wall decorations, clothes and that's it. The furniture of our flat is always there and not customizable, why? Would have made more sense to me. Otherwise there is legit nothing to spend your money on. Not even in a skill tree for the arcade mode, as an example. The arcade mode makes more fun but there is also a big lack. You could also put Bots in which you recruit to work for you. Graphic is alright but also not the best. Also kinda reminds me of the game "House Party", especially the characters in the story mode. And you can not only get to be an alcoholic, nope. You can also get into gambling addiction if you own your own bar and grade it up into the lounge! :D I still do recommend the game, because I still had some fun and learning the receipts of each beverages was pretty nice. The delevopers lost very much potential on that game. 6.5/10 ~ Get Goo Goo ALU!
Bartender Hustle is a refreshing and engaging indie title that places you behind the bar in a lively, urban setting where your skills as a mixologist are put to the test. Unlike traditional bartending simulators that focus solely on drink recipes or timed challenges, this game adds layers of personality, strategy, and storytelling that transform the experience into something more immersive and dynamic. From the moment you step into the dimly lit, neon-soaked club, you get a sense that this isn’t just about shaking cocktails—it’s about managing relationships, reading customers, and making split-second decisions that shape the atmosphere and success of your bar. One of the standout aspects of Bartender Hustle is its deep and nuanced approach to customer interaction. Each patron who approaches your bar comes with distinct personalities, moods, and preferences, and it’s up to you to listen carefully and tailor your service accordingly. Beyond simply mixing the right drink, you need to engage with their stories, respond to their vibes, and sometimes even mediate conflicts or encourage conversations. This social simulation element elevates the game, making the bar feel like a living space where every interaction matters. The dialogue is sharp and well-written, often sprinkled with humor and subtle emotional beats that add warmth and depth to the gameplay. The drink-mixing mechanic itself is satisfying and well-executed. It strikes a good balance between realism and accessibility, offering a variety of ingredients and recipes without overwhelming the player with complexity. The process of preparing drinks involves timing, precision, and a touch of creativity, especially as you unlock new components and experiment with custom concoctions. This aspect of the game shines because it never feels repetitive; each shift brings new challenges and unexpected customer requests that keep you on your toes. Additionally, the game rewards you for creativity and risk-taking, encouraging players to develop their own bartending style rather than simply following a strict formula. Visually, Bartender Hustle boasts a sleek, stylized aesthetic that perfectly captures the vibe of a bustling nightlife scene. The art direction combines retro neon hues with detailed character designs, creating an atmosphere that’s both inviting and a little mysterious. Animations are smooth and expressive, lending life to the bar’s patrons and making every interaction feel more authentic. Complementing the visuals is a curated soundtrack that mixes chill electronic beats with jazzy undertones, perfectly setting the mood whether you’re in the heat of a busy rush or winding down during quieter moments. While the game excels in many areas, it isn’t without minor flaws. Some players might find the pace a bit slow during certain segments, particularly when dialogue-heavy scenes stretch on without much variation. Additionally, the game’s relatively short length could leave players wanting more, especially given how engaging the core mechanics and story threads are. However, these are small complaints in an otherwise polished and charming package that knows exactly what kind of experience it wants to deliver. Bartender Hustle also impresses with its narrative ambitions. It weaves a subtle but compelling storyline through your daily grind, touching on themes of ambition, connection, and personal growth. The characters you meet are memorable, with their own motivations and backstories that slowly unfold over time. The game doesn’t shove these narratives in your face but allows them to develop organically, encouraging players to invest emotionally in the world and its inhabitants. In summary, Bartender Hustle is a standout indie game that blends bartending simulation with social storytelling and strategy in a way that feels fresh and deeply satisfying. Its combination of engaging mechanics, memorable characters, and atmospheric design make for an experience that’s as much about human connection as it is about mixing drinks. Whether you’re a fan of simulation games, narrative-driven titles, or simply looking for something with a unique vibe, Bartender Hustle offers a rich and rewarding journey behind the bar that’s worth savoring. Rating: 8/10
The gameplay is kind of repetitive, which I personally like. It's not hard either, you don't need to remember the drinks yourself. But OH BOY is my computer BURNING ALIVE. The game failed to open twice on my first attempt to play it. I finally got it open and turned the graphics to their lowest setting. The LOWEST setting made my computer heat up like crazy. I do recommend the game if you have a top-line computer. But if you're rocking a 2022-era schmuck like me, this game will ruin your computer.
As a budding mixology nerd, I adore this simulator. The writing for story mode is light, but not boring (at least to me -- I quite like learning about people's lives). Arcade mode is difficult enough to be stimulating and challenging without feeling impossible. Sandbox mode is exactly what I need to practice. And while I haven't tried endless mode yet, considering everything else, I'm looking forward to it. The audio design is solid. The graphics aren't anything to write home about, but they're not problematic in any way -- they certainly don't take away from the appeal of the game itself. The UI is easy to navigate and not too intrusive into the game itself. Major notes: none. the devs and designers have done a wonderful job here, and there's nothing that needs to be changed to make me more likely to engage with or recommend the game. Minor notes: there are a *couple* of things I would like to see added in the future, but again, the game is great as-is. Consider this less of a critique and more of a personal wishlist (as of 07/13/2025). First, I'd like to see some more dynamic graphics done with the drinks themselves; what we have is simplistic and perfectly fine, but I think it'd be neat if a "perfect" drink actually came out looking like the picture every time (at least in color). Second, I think a quality/accuracy grading system would be a nice inclusion for Sandbox alongside the timing system. Third, I wish that we could grab multiple straws/garnishes/etc at a time and either distribute them to multiple drinks or place them all in one; it's somewhat frustrating that a third of my time making something like a Bahama Mama is spent after I'm done pouring. And lastly, I'd like some more options for spending money earned in Story and Arcade mode. Those *extremely* nitpicky notes notwithstanding, I love this game! If you're interested in learning about mixology or just settling into a well-designed time management sim, this is the game for you.
I think the game is quite enjoyable if what you're looking for is a chill simulator. The story is rather short, but I personally prefer repetitive simulators where I can play the sandbox and relax. However, my only problem is is that the recipes are not too many, I'd love to see additional recipes added :d
Bartender hustle is one of those asset rip games that has a central theme of cocktail making. Its janky at times and some of the UI elements could use work (like the cocktail selection screen in arcade mode), but its core components are repetitive and engaging. As plenty of other people have stated, the game is missing features that would turn it from a 6 into a 7. Because of this, I don't really recommend the game unless its on sale. 20 dollars CAD is quite expensive for what it offers. That being said, I do enjoy the overall concept even if I wish it was executed better. It still seems like the dev's are active on forum boards but without any updates for the past 2 years I feel like they have abandoned this game to work on their other ventures. Its unfortunate as there is a lot of potential here.
