I bought this on suggestion that it'd have somewhat of a similar energy to Goemon, and while it does, the gameplay doesn't feel as fun as it has with N64 Mystical Ninja. Not a bad grab at deep sale and there's A LOT to go through, but at least for me it started to feel repetitive around 3 hour mark so I got bored.
Genuinely speaking, i did NOT expect this game to be THIS good. I came in expecting an ok platformer, and left with a fun as heck combat 3d platformer that reminds me of mario 3d world and dk bananza. The soundtrack SLAPS, and all the locations are unique and pretty to look at. If you were thinking of playing this game, PLEASE get it. Insanely underrated
it's a pretty standard but solid 3D platformer with a lot of charm, having almost every level being based on a prefecture from Japan and giving interesting trivia. Understandably there being over 60 levels means there's gonna be some boring ones, which is the only problem I had with the game.
A solid action platformer full of charm! The middle drags on a bit and the amount of collectibles is overkill, but all in all a fun time for 15 or so hours.
Jogo muito bom, parecido com Geomon Mystical Ninja do Nintendo 64. (Jogo desenvolvido por uma produtora que trabalha para a Nintendo). Pra ficar perfeito, só precisa de uma tradução oficial para "Português Brasil". Nota 9/10.
Cute kids game with tight combat and platforming.
This is a fantastic platformer, with a great deal of diversity in terms of level design. Every platforming level also features easy-to-learn combat. Transformations allow for combat variety as well, or you can challenge yourself by ignoring that aspect of the game. The setting is incredibly vibrant and colorful, taking place in and inspiration from, most Japanese prefectures. Collectibles include fun tidbits of trivia; cultural, historical, and contemporary, which anybody who is interested in Japan would likely gain from. Breaking up the large platforming levels, there are a handful of racing and shooting levels. Of course, there are also boss fights which further challenge you. Some boss fights are standardized where you play as Bakeru but others are giant robot fights which take inspiration from Tokusatsu films and while they're a little different, the game is forgiving enough to where it's easy to adapt to those new types of combat encounters. When it comes to drawbacks, I noticed that the hitboxes can occasionally be hit or miss but 99% of the time the game played perfectly fine. My biggest issue, and this is absolutely a "me" thing, is that there was only 1 level that takes place in Hokkaido and it technically isn't even technically set in Hokkaido. That's very much a "me" thing though; popular cities are better represented so fans of Osaka, Tokyo, Kumamoto, Nara, etc will almost certainly like how they're represented. If you're interested in learning the Japanese language,; every instance of dialog, and ever menu, utilize furigana which makes reading Japanese accessible to Japanese language readers at just about any level. The game has very little voice acting, which may be a drawback, but there isn't so much reading that I ever felt overwhelmed. I can't recommend this game highly enough, this easily could have been my year of 2024 if I had played it on release.
An extremely fun game, very old school in style and very basic but not in a bad way. It reminds you of old school fun which games should be. The style is whimsical and a delight. The only let down is the weak story. Another thing that annoyed me was the clunky mech fights, they were way to slow moving and clunky but since the game was easy its forgivable. It was only me chasing the achievement of no damage that annoyed me. The game can get a tad repetitive especially when your skills barely evolve and there a tad too many levels but overall it was fun and not too taxing.
