Baker Street Breakouts: A Sherlockian Escape Adventure

I've never been a big fan of Escape Room games, but a friend of mine recommended this one to me since I'm into everything Sherlock Holmes related and this game uses many references to the franchise (main characters, villains, places etc.). I've been playing for a few hours now and I'm having a lot of fun. The riddles are entertaining and challenging, but never unfair. You can get clues if you're stuck. Every room has its own theme, for example the autopsy room, where you have to collect clues on how to perform an autopsy. You can see that the developers put a lot of effort into small details. The dialog and messages are witty and sometimes funny, but the overall atmosphere is ptetty tense. This is partially due to the chilling soundtrack and fitting sound design. Since the game was developed with the RPG Maker engine, you can't expect any high end graphics, but the game looks neat and surely got the most out of the engine. I'm intrigued as to how the story which revolves around Sherlock and his old nemesis Moriarty will unfold. If you're to some extent into puzzle games or Escape Room games in particular, you should give this one a try.

Pretty creative Escape Room game. I was honestly not expecting the puzzles to be this good. They were harder than those of most RPG-Maker games out there, but always made sense. The only flaw I can think of is that some words are misspelled, but that's a minor thing. I absolutely recommend it.

Nettes kleines Indie-RPG, das mich vom Spielprinzip und Design her ein bisschen an die alten SNES-RPGs erinnert hat. Besonders wird es zum einen durch die Rätsel, die größtenteils kreativ, aber durchaus lösbar sind. Wenn man sich ein bisschen damit auskennt, kann man es an einem (langen) Abend durchspielen (ich habe ca. 6h gebraucht). Zum anderen sind aber gerade die Poesie und der Humor mit viel Liebe zum Detail der größte Pluspunkt des Spiels, und das sollte man dann nicht übersehen! Ohne zu spoilern: Gerade in den Räumen 9 und 10 passieren dramatische Dinge, und erst wenn man die verstanden hat, versteht man das große Ganze. Einziges Manko für mich: In der aktuellen Version kann man die Hintergrundmusik zwar leiser machen, aber nicht ganz ausschalten, also nicht nebenbei seine eigene Musik hören. Kann bestimmt im nächsten Update behoben werden. Ansonsten freue ich mich auf eine Fortsetzung!

Sherlock references are quite a few but, they mostly get recycled with different words. I wouldn't call it "staying true to character" as Sherlock isn't so superficial, thoughtless or frivolous but, all things considered, I'd call him a more comical and exaggerated version of classic Sherlock. The dialogues have a lot of witty and chucklesome lines. It's guaranteed you'll be having a nice time with the game, as it achieves its purpose. Eventhough the plotline is a bit farstreched, this Sherlock-breakout-RPG merges detective work with thrilling puzzle-solving mechanics. The breakout-style gameplay provides an engaging experience as you unravel the puzzles from the perspective of our beloved master-detective.

I like rooms 1 and 2 very much. Room 3 is a bit weaker, but you should stay tuned because the story really picks up after that. In many games, the puzzles start very easily and become more difficult over time. that's not the case here and I find that refreshing. The puzzles are consistently challenging but manageable. I like the fact that references are made to both the classic books and the BBC series Sherlock.

Tolles erstes Spiel eines kleinen Indie-Studios und absolut seinen Preis wert. Grafisch ist sicherlich noch Luft nach oben, weil vor allem Standard-Grafiken vom RPG Maker verwendet werden. Das Spiel braucht aber auch keine aufwendige Grafiken, denn es überzeugt vor allem durch die tollen Escape Rooms. Die Rätsel sind teilweise sehr anspruchsvoll und herausfordernd, aber so soll es doch auch sein. Begleitet wird das Ganze noch von einer tiefgründen Hintergrundgeschichte, die sich erst nach und nach entfaltet. Die spannende Mystery-Escape-Room-Atmosphäre wird durch den passenden Soundtrack unterstützt. Für Sherlock-Holmes-Fans ist das Spiel sicherlich schon ein Muss aufgrund der vielen Zitate aus den Originalen.

Awesome but challenging game!

Ich habe das Spiel mit Rabatt gesehen und musste als Hardcore Sherlock Fan zuschlagen. Ich habe gerade erst begonnen zu spielen, mir gefällt es auf den ersten Blick aber gut. Es ist offenbar ein escape room spiel mit adventure elementen. Eine gelungene Kombination, weil escape room spiele sonst oft eine story vermissen lassen. man kommt oft irgendwie in einen raum und muss wieder hinaus. Es geht darum gegen Moriarty anzutreten. Im Flur im Intro sind Eingänge zu vielen verschiedenen Räumen zu sehen. Vermutlich muss man sich dort hindurch rätseln. Das Intro hat mich an den BBC Sherlock erinnert (ich liebe die Serie)! Ich werde weiter berichten und meine Rezension im Laufe des Spiels ergänzen.
