Huge fan of the series, and was extremely excited to play a new entry after all these years! Unfortunately, the game lacks polish in ways that are glaring, so much so that I requested a refund and would not recommend others buy it unless significant work is done to clean this game up. My two biggest issues were with the commentary and with the controls. Game Commentators Commentary brings back the two familiar voices from the OG games, but it feels lower quality -- commentators talk over each other, each "non-canon" player are all referred to as "the newcomer", unrelated and inapplicable commentary lines are spoken seemingly randomly. It got so annoying and grating that after just thirty minutes of having commentary on, I opted to mute them in game settings just to maintain my sanity. Controls As someone who was a big fan of the original games, I loved being able to control the game with just my mouse as a point-and-click sports game. However, this control scheme was horrible. UI elements would pop in and out. Trying to throw to the correct player when fielding was a nightmare (I constantly would throw to the wrong player despite clicking very directly on the person I wanted to throw to). Sending runners back was impossible unless you use keyboard, so players got picked off often. Credit where credit is due - pitching and batting both felt great. I've also heard that the controller controls were a lot better than keyboard and mouse. I didn't choose to play it that way though, because I wanted the point-and-click experience. Overall, I'm really disappointed that I didn't love this game. I wanted to love it so badly. I will be going back to play the originals to get my fix, and I hope one day I can revisit this game if they ever clean up the flaws.

great kick of nostalgia, with modernization to make it fun and enjoyable for the next generation
Yes, BUT at hopefully a lower price if it ever goes on sale. I've enjoyed playing, about to finish the first season, but I don't think it should be 40$, maybe 20, perhaps 25, but not 40. I've played '97, '01, and '03, and I have to say the fielding is so bad for both you and the computer. Don't even think about a triple play, a double is hard enough, there is barely any variance in power when you throw in the field, it's either a weak throw, or a rainbow that takes six years to get to a fielder, in which they're already at the base. The AI is also easily manip'd too. If you're on 3rd and 1st, if you head to 2nd and wait just as they throw the ball, you can pretty much easily take home with any character right afterwards due to the weak throwing. Kind of works when throwing back to the pitcher, but not to the success as mentioned with the other one. At minimum, I hope the power and sound effect returns when a fielder with a strong arm throws it in the future, and fix the AI. Oh, and trying to control a player right as the camera moves and running away from the ball is so annoying, especially when if you had just stayed still you would've got it quicker, that's the worst. Pitching? I've barely throw inside the box, compared to the other games, they chase balls plenty more, but also hit them as much too as others have mentioned. I don't get too many strikeouts, but usually with good placement, a.k.a low and away, they hit grounders majority of the time, but sometimes they'll hit a random homerun. Hitting wise, it's pretty much homerun or single, sometimes a double with a fast character if it's in a gap. I guess I've got the old hitting down in the older games, cause it was a struggle at first to get consistent hits and homeruns, which I'd consider good, I actually have to watch where the ball is coming from before lining up and trying to hit. Overall improvements could, and should be made, I feel I had the most irritation coming from fielding, and the straight-forward clunky mess that it is.
