I want to be fair, it is a cheap game. BUT the constant UNNECESSARY AI Voice lines in the game kinda ruined the experience. also you walks like a snail, and feels like you have asthma with such a short stamina bar. I will say there was only one good jump scare in the game that got me. every other entity you see in the game is kinda lame. there was a note talking about a "Yellow Guy" ( a Partygoer) but you only see him twice. first time tip toeing like the Grinch. second just waving at you as your character leaves level Fun. kinda stupid and the note was unnecessary if the partygoer did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Two things. One. The lobby has these annoyingly convenient arrows that lead nowhere. They removed the note at the start. This, the insane change in graphics I needed to do, and the fact that half of the interesting stuff in the game was removed in the "remake" update. Seriously, just keep the levels and the achievements. MAKE THE GAME LONGER. IT'S A GIFT TO MAKE A LONG BACKROOMS GAME THAT ISN'T CHEAP. Two. I can name a game better than this that has similar elements, like Psychological horror. Dreamcore, which has a powerful as HELL portrayal of the Poolrooms. It's a better Poolrooms area in general. In Dreamcore, it's bigger, scarier, and it feels like anything could come out and make you scream like a girl. As for this one, you know it won't be climatic when the main character says "Now I am all wet" SUCH A DORK NGL. It feels like you're playing as Mark Zuckerberg in a big pool with a running sound that sounds like something's chasing you, which is more annoying when nothing's even there. 4/10, there are better options, and this is still painfully mid for a BACKROOMS game...
Its a walking simulator but despite that I liked it. One of the few backrooms games that takes more inspiration from the original Kanepixels version of the backrooms rather than the whole run away from the spooky entity gameplay cycle that 90% of backrooms games go for. The game really makes you feel like your in a liminal space creating a tense atmosphere even if no entities are present like I said earlier the game nails the feeling the original backrooms was going for rather than what its turned into nowadays which is refreshing. The different levels you explore in this game are pretty varied with a decent amount to explore on a few them with the game rewarding you for doing so with voice lines of the mc reacting to what he finds within the backrooms. Overall the game is kinda fun two different endings so its somewhat replayable. Only complaints are that the voice lines sometimes sound off (especially in one of the endings) and the sprinting is super annoying either commit to the slow walking speed or give inf stamina instead the game is in a weird middleground of a super slow walk speed coupled with a sprint that drains in 10 seconds it gets tiring after a while. Overall good game creates a nice atmosphere
Very straight forward. Got lost on the first level longer than I'd like to admit, but rolled through the rest of the game. I mean, I spent .63 on it, so for that I got a bit out of it. I'd recommend it if you just want a tour through a few levels of the backrooms.
.
So far this is a great game maybe the best backrooms game ive played, would be nice if the first map was a bit more big and there was an option to have HVS style (like the one from the movie), and i can also see that this game is aming for a lot of things from the movie, which i absolutely LOVE , but it would be cool to have more movie refrences(like more random stuff stuck in the ground)
First thing to be said - I enjoyed the game, exploring, and I played through to the end. It should be said that the game does have a few borrowed assets and borrowed ideas. What it does with those, though, is make a unique enough experience that isn't too similar to other liminal space games. The environments were sufficiently interesting to keep me curious, and the game goes for a lot longer than you might expect. Liminal space/backrooms games seem to be a great way for devs to experiment, so I think there's no harm in spending a buck and managing expectations to help support devs and encourage them to continue to learn the craft. I should mention there were several levels that really gave me the creeps, so I was pleasantly surprised. My only gripe is the same one I had in the demo - stamina. I think stamina is only a hindrance in games of this niche. Anyway, I'd say give this a go. The price is low and the experience is unique enough to stand on its own.
Well.. not that bad, worth a try
