About
Babel of Ystilia combines tactical, turn-based gameplay of traditional roguelikes with fast-paced, minimalistic and intuitive combat where your movement and turn timings are the key to getting out of fights unscathed. Learn enemy patterns to outsmart them, loot equipment to create powerful synergies and slay the god to save the world of Ystilia from divine lunacy.
Every enemy has a predictable behavior that feels like a micro puzzle. Learn their patterns and you will always be able to beat them with any weapon and without taking any damage.

This game is completely turn-based, but it can feel quite fast due to the minimalistic nature of the combat system and the absence of turn delays. Speed up in simple rooms and slow down when you are surrounded by a crowd of enemies to carefully think about your plan.

Your inventory is limited so make the most of it because every item matters. Become a thunder warlock, chicken summoner, ballista engineer or a poisonous assassin. Play however you want and try out new item combinations every run!

Hidden gem masterpiece. It feels like playing on the Bard character with no rhythm mechanics in Necrodancer. It would be nice to have the game on Android.
Honestly a very cute little game. Reminds me of crypt of the necrodancer, but I don't have to listen to the music, and I have infinite time to make the right move for a situation.

Super fun movement based traditional roguelike. Itemization and builds in conjunction with the combat is very unique.
A game full of fantastic ideas. The closest comparison most would know is Necrodancer, and this game definitely takes it one step ahead in complexity - which is great, since there is no rhythm or timing to respect here. Lots of content, two hours in and every single one of my runs had me seeing cool, original items, enemies, etc. I got pretty far (final level) in, and never saw any unfair situations happen (getting ruthlessly pinned down, or unavoidable enemies, etc.); so runs never end on a sour note, it's pretty much all user error :) Absolutely worth it!

Wonderful streamlined roguelike. Easy to get into, hooked me immediately. Love the item and enemy design
Amazing traditional roguelike (proc gen, permadeath, turn based, tile based, grid based, items/inventory, bump-attacks, etc). All enemy attacks are telegraphed and behaviors are easy to learn but provide a very fair and fun challenge. Tons of enemy and item variety. Items are actually interesting and change the way you play. And it even has something that 90% of roguelike devs magically forget they will need until their players start begging for it - the ability to save and quit mid run. Who would have thought? Well, this guy did. It absolutely blows my mind how so many roguelikes / lites forget this crucial feature. Anyway, this game has everything else you'd want to when it comes to QoL - clear item descriptions so you don't have to guess at what they do, an in-game encyclopedia of what the items do so you don't have to remember, controller support, re-bindable keys for both keyboard and controller, cool bosses that don't require trial and error to learn their patterns, clear and easily readable graphics, steam achievements,....I could go on for a while. Needless to say, this game is top notch, and I think that a lot (if not most) roguelike devs could learn a thing or two from how this game is designed and made. Would love to see more content, and would happily play-test said content if you need a beta-tester. I've been playing roguelikes for 30+ years, so I can spot the good ones - and this one is good.
A really solid spin on the roguelike genre - although it looks very traditional it plays very differently from a traditional roguelike (where you just stand next to monsters and bash away until one of you dies). Here, positioning and learning enemy attack patterns is key, which makes it feel surprisingly action-packed for a turn-based game!
Only a few sessions in, but loving it so far. Nice art style, catchy music, great variety of items and enemies, fair but engaging boss fights, no glitches/bugs. I bought this game because it looked similar to 'Crypt of the Necrodancer' (one of the greatest rogue-likes ever), and after trying it out, I'm happy to report the quality is on par with that game. While there's no rhythm mechanic forcing you to make quick decisions, the enemy behavior is a bit more advanced to compensate, so there's still a decent amount of challenge present.
