My first refund. Those 20 minutes of Awake: Episode One present very little of the story and most of the scenes are shown in its Steam Trailer. And this "photo-realistic" visuals are just awful when it comes to human characters: they run right into uncanny valley and stay there. Even in static faces look very weird and in motion things get 10 times worse. Maybe VR should stick to stylized visuals in this generation of technology)
Again VR shows how wonderous this medium is, It's kind of spellbinding how much more VR gives to movies, I think this is the first to actually put the player into the centre of the Film and also let them interact as well, The story is fairly confusing and I was not sure of where the next episode will lead, but I will be there, so wait and see. The future looks bright.
Unless I am doing something wrong or missing something this is about 15-20min tops for a playthrough. Promising if expanded but very lacking for the price right now.
This experience was absolutely stunning from start to end. I've always loved narrative driven games like the former TellTale games and this could be the stepping stone toward that idea for vr. The idea of the "Awake" story really started to freak me out a little, like I took the Red Pill just by putting on the headset IRL. The only thing that took away from the experience was my lack of space. With no locomotion in game, you are at the will of your own two feet. In a more appropriate play area, the immersion can really pull you in i'm sure. The play area requirement by no means is a negative to the game, just more of a personal hassle (afraid of punching through my TV or Monitor). I'm very excited to see more episodes of this story released, and looking to see what other environments Start VR will drop us into.
WOW, when is the next part out, These movie volumetric video's, need to be supported, the future of movies is astonishing. I can't wait till they produce full blockbuster movies in these formats. The immersion level is something else. Loved it, can't wait for more.
By far the best 6 Australian dollars i have spent in VR. I thank the creators for this. Awesome in depth story along with innovative work with virtual reality. I was and am still hoping for a sequel to The Final Hours and this adds one more to my list! I BEG FOR MORE!!!!
I'm very surprised to see so many positive reviews for this game and I'll tell you why. First and foremost, the visual presentation is by far the worst I've had in VR. The pixilation is horriffic, even the title sceen looks like something from 2000. It completely ruined this "experience for me". I "played" with the high graphics setting and cranked the resolution scaling to 120 percent on steam vr which didn't help very much at all. I'm not sure if it was just something with my PC but Fallout VR and Arizona Sunshine look a million times better than this. Secondly, it's much too short to even be worth the 5 dollars, and there is certaintly not even story to become engaged in the world. Overall hugely disapointed, but maybe they will fix the visuals and make this worth something.
必须要win10才可以,我的7不行 很遗憾
Great story telling VR experience (not a game). The volumetric rendering is still in its infantry, but looks "good enough", at least to me for the use-cases shown here. It takes interactive storytelling to a new level. The story was pretty good, and even brought some tears to my eyes. (a first with VR stories) Overall recommend, if you aren't super stingy with your budget (25 minute experience for 6$)
