I'm just putting in a review to say that this seems to be loading fine for me on an Oculus Rift + Touch. There's no teleportation, so you need a pretty large space. And the system requirements aren't a joke -- it was extreme jittery for me until I went to the options and switched it from high resolution (GTX 1080 recommended) to standard. Also, it seems to be one of those games that doesn't have a quit button. But so far (I've only really just started) it's very pretty and the environment is beautifully rendered.
Freaky 25 minute experience with some interesting visual techniques - looks great except the eyes of the characters which are flat and lifeless. Worth the price ? That depends on your interest in VR entertainment and financial situation.
This was interesting, but I don't think it should be considered a game. Interactive movie would probably be a better category.
If you like abstract and something deep, it may be your experience. I felt like I wanted the end as soon as possible. Clearly a pretty cool tech demo for immersive story telling, but for me I would have liked something simply more FUN to watch. Perhaps if it was less serious a story and more easy to follow, I would like more.
I bought this game because of some article I read about it using some new tech for rendering the scenes. Not sure what I was expecting, but right now it feels a lot like a tech demo more than something 'complete'. There was a lot of weird artifacting on the people (fingers webbing together, fabric flickering around, weird flat face for the female character, strange parallax effect when you look out the window during some of the scenes. Just a lot of overall weirdness. The story was ok, but difficult to get into. It wasn't like some profound story that made me really care about the main character. Honestly, I wouldn't say this game is worth $8. The negatives of this particular title aside, I'm really excited for the future of VR and cinema. I can't wait for semi-interactive and non-interactive VR cinema to take off and I'm happy to see that there are developers starting to get into this space more.
Problems starting, and performance issues. After using this at Raindance VR festival on Vive Pro, I was keen to try again using my Rift at home. I emailed the developers recently to ask about compability with Rift, and received a reply it would be in the New Year. Today i had another reply it was now ready for Rift, so downloaded and tried using. Multiple attempts to start failed; I got an image of two glowing orbs and then minutes of blackness whilst a loading screen on the computer monitor slowly went to 100%. However after getting to 100% still nothing happened, i closed the app and tried several times. I eventually shut Steam down, restarted Oculus, restarted Steam as administrator and it finally started. However, performance was poor with latency and glitching. I'm using a top end PC (8086K/RTX2080Ti) so not a lack of resources, tried turning off supersampling, restarting, but made no difference. Just seems poorly optimised for Rift. Disappointed as i was looking forward to this for months, but Steam were timely in quickly processing my refund request
Awake ist einer der wenigen guten VR Filme. Technisch gut umgesetzt (für die heutigen Möglichkeiten) und ein interessant anzuschauender "Kopf-Trip". Gerne mehr davon! Punkte 8,5/10
Great story telling VR experience (not a game). The volumetric rendering is still in its infantry, but looks "good enough", at least to me for the use-cases shown here. It takes interactive storytelling to a new level. The story was pretty good, and even brought some tears to my eyes. (a first with VR stories) Overall recommend, if you aren't super stingy with your budget (25 minute experience for 6$)
