Automatic Language Learning

I bought this because the art looked cozy and I like idle games I can run while watching Netflix. Didn’t expect to actually start reading Japanese. Seriously — I can now look at short phrases and go, “Hey, I know that!” And I didn’t cram or stress to learn it. The game feeds you vocab in a way that just makes sense, and it never gives you stuff you’re not ready for. Also, the kanji art unlocks are a vibe. Beautiful stuff. This might be the first “learning” game I’ve played that doesn’t make me feel dumb. Big W.

Japanese seems to be my thing now, and I've been trying learning through its courses such as Genki and Anki, even the Duolingo app, and I also watched Cure Dolly videos. Nothing works because I get burned out at times. Automatic Language Learning somehow bypasses that -- just makes me enjoy the grind. It's like if WaniKani and an idle RPG had a chill, nerdy child who respects your time. Words unlock only when you've learned what they're built on no random vocab dumps. And when a flashcard reaches level 100 and becomes "Immortalized," it's done. I leave it running while I work and check in during breaks. Feels like my fluency gradually builds up on autopilot without that gamified guilt trip so many other apps put you through (no streaks, no pressure). Please, devs- Korean or German next. I'll be first in line.

This game is a brilliant and relaxing way to learn Japanese. The XP and progression system makes it feel like an RPG, which really motivates me to keep going. I love how it breaks down the language into small, manageable pieces without overwhelming you. The quizzes are a great way to track your level and reinforce what you've learned. It’s exciting to know Spanish might be added too — I’d definitely use it for that! A fun, pressure-free way to build real fluency.

Finals week had me wrecked, and I needed something low-pressure but still engaging. Found this while browsing idle games, and it's been perfect. It’s basically a language-learning garden. You plant little seeds (words), and over time, they grow into full phrases. You don’t even realize how much you’re learning until you catch yourself reading a whole sentence and understanding it. I wish the UI was a little more customizable (dark mode when?), but honestly, this game makes learning feel kind. That’s rare. Highly recommend for anyone who’s ever burned out on Duolingo and just wants a soft, persistent way to learn.

Never knew learning japanese could be this much fun, Been a sucker for kanji for over a decade and finally got the chance to get into it with this game, Loved every minute of it.

I like this app and it is useful because it has no lore, no story, so it weighs much differently in cognitive ways than the many "RPGs" that teach languages. They hit a different way, and require more bandwidth than this, which is effective for second-screen learning in place of most idle or ciicker games. It is able to be improved in some very easy ways; many of these are with audio. 1. Separate volume controls for the background music and the language pronunciation guidance. 2. Playback speed adjustment for the pronunciation guidance. 3. Being able to click the mouse-over Hiragana to hear the pronunciation while reading the Hiragana.

After an hour of playing, I realised that Automatic Language Learning is a real treat for fans of idle games. Instead of the usual clickers, here every click is a new word or phrase in Japanese. It's very motivating to watch your XP grow and new cards unlock. So far, there's only a basic set of lessons, but the balance is good: not too fast, but not too slow either. Perfect for short sessions between tasks!

I've been playing for an hour now, and I really like how the idle mechanics are combined with learning Japanese phrases. The progress is noticeable: I've already unlocked several basic structures and a little bit of kanji. The interface is simple, but sometimes more contrasting colours are needed — the white background and light grey buttons sometimes blend together. Overall, it's fun and informative, looking forward to future updates!
