This game is a wild mix of frustration and fun. The thrill of finally getting past a tough part is worth every restart. Just be ready to die... a lot. The new submerged level is rude. Exploring this water-filled planet with mysterious creatures just beneath the surface feels incredibly immersive and keeps on your toes!
As an initial review after not much playtime, this game is decent. The platforming is solid, and the oxygen mechanic serves as a way of making thorough exploration challenging. Runs could use a bit more variance, especially for things like challenge room rewards. I'd also wish for a basic options menu where I can adjust things like windowed mode and music/sfx volume. The game is worth its low asking price and shows potential.
I'm to buys enjoying the music kinda sad that when i die the maps change the music so when you get locked in to a certain tune then die it makes it that much more painful. I don't normally play platformers or roguelites but if you're better at them than me you might enjoy it.
A neat roguelite although not really even a rogue lite, you progress, beat the area then on to the next. The time based system is what ultimately made me quit playing i would of liked to progress but that timing stuff just rattled me. If you are good at moving quick this is a game for you.
Astral Flux is a terrific platformer with quirky roguelite level generation and other elements. Looks & sounds great, controls are super smooth, good enemy variety, great boss fights. Challenging fun! Astral Flux really has some awesome environments and enemies (if you can survive long enough to meet them!). If you're up for a challenge, Astral Flux is great. Features some roguelike elements, great for replayability. For more niche curation, follow me at: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/27440015-CSH-Picone/
Very fun, short and challenging Indie Roguelite. The game challenges you in every way possible, you race against time cause u can run out of oxygen if you don't find the exits quickly, and the boss fights also challenges you in a fun way. If one thing i would recommend is to add Keyboard Keys Remapping, It took me sometime till i got used to the default controls in the game. Other than that, I faced no other issues. This is a hidden Roguelite game, that was overlooked. Overall Rating 10/10
After trying out a demo of Astral Flux during Steam Next Fest, I now tried the full game. The first thing that attracted me were the music and sound effects. The game has a lot of atmosphere. It feels like entering a different world due to the sound and visuals. So far, I got to world 3 and it’s nice to see a different biome every world. I also liked to discover the new enemies in each world. I felt like I would have wanted to explore each world on my own pace, killing all enemies, and using explosive barrels to break through all secret walls. However, the oxygen limit in the game pushed me to get to the boss of each level (and back!). Although it became clear how to manage oxygen, I felt that an explanation about this could have been added to the tutorial (it would also be nice of the tutorial level could be replayed after finishing it). Your oxygen levels slowly decline so you have limited time to find switches and the door to the boss room, defeat the boss, and get back to your (really cool) space car with the fuel you found after the boss room (fuel is needed to head back home). I noticed the game let me learn and grow by trial and error. For example, I learned how to collect more oxygen using coins and O2 devices. At some point, this allowed me to explore more to my liking and still had minutes left when returning to my space car. That was a great feeling. The procedural levels are sometimes harder than others, so right now, I sometimes felt lucky/unlucky with the difficulty of the route on the planet. Given that there is permadeath, there is a lot of pressure on the player. You’ll have to restart at the first planet when you die and are revived. If you’re into such challenges, Astral Flux might be a nice game for you. It challenges you to get better, choose the upgrades that will help you the most, and finally discover how to get home safely. Wherever that may be, still have to found out. I hope the developers will add more content in future updates because this game definitely has potential to grow. I recommend giving this game a try if you like what you see.
Este es un juego donde vas a morir mucho. Roguelike parecido a Dead Cells o Neon Abyss.
A very charming and tight platfomer in the style mashup of Spelunky and Metroid. Really good art design, some exceptionally crispy platforming mechanics, and just a really nice vibe overall. Excited and interested to play more! The only nit I have is that the oxygen meter makes the initial stage maybe a touch too fast or frantic. 5 minutes might seem like a lot of time on paper, but otherwise I'm sprinting straight for the objective. It does make for a pulse pounding experience, but I think gets in the way just a touch. If I had 7-8 minutes on the first stage, or maybe some more oxygen trees to pause the timer...
