Yes, this is Asteroids modern version! You can play the classic version or the modern version of Asteroids Millennium. The classic version is like the 1979 version, with only one UFO that comes into play amongst the accumulating asteroids. This is all with up to date graphics and sounds that are 'blow you awayish' and quite delightful. One of the difficulties of classic version is when you shoot a full sized asteroid and it blows into the smaller chunks, the explosions from this prevent you from seeing them right away. Thus fire rapidly if you are uncertain of the locations of shrapnel! If you're looking to play the old Asteroids but updated, then you have found it! Looking forward to playing the modern version of this game... will update. ps. game is very well made and smooth. Just played the modern version and you get really cool guns but it is just as hard! Very challenging game! Update: after the update for auto fire, game is so addicting and a super fun shooter!
This is not my asteroids. The boost is way over throttled so you get way too fast instantly, the game doesn't support stretched full screen so you have a black box around the whole game, rocks don't split after you hit them once, and you select where you spawn.
Simple to learn, tough to master. A fun little game with solid base mechanics and a good difficulty curve that keeps the game interesting from one level to the next. A great way to relax for a few minutes hopping around or get serious and go for a high score.
wow incredible absolutley so much fun! :D
This is a great game with a good take on the classic asteroids experience. Highly recommend.
Asteroids Millennium is an unofficial ripoff of the ancient 1979 Asteroids arcade game from Atari (Geoff Nagy does not own Atari's copyright for this game and may be infringing on it). The gameplay is exactly the same despite there being 38 years of advancement in gaming technology. The developer did add a couple of different weapon upgrades... which were an element of shmups for several decades as well, so no real innovation there. Despite being released in 2017, the developer couldn't work out how widescreen works so the game displays with a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is just a bizarre design choice. I think what happened here is the developer went into a coma in 1980, woke up 37 years later and made a guess that people had forgotten completely about that awesome video game he just played in the arcade before he unbalanced it and it fell on him. That would explain the thinking that this is a somehow new idea and also the inability to cope with 16:9 video resolution. $11.50 is surely a joke price, however, you can play Asteroids for free in a web browser, so why on earth does this guy think he can charge money for his (likely) copyright infringement? If the dev does read this: https://www.engadget.com/2012-01-03-atari-allegedly-claiming-copyright-infringement-on-hundreds-of.html Atari may well be coming for you...
Though this game is NOT the true Atari classic, this game offers an Asteroids feel and still same style of fun I have come to know through my endless years of Arcadom. The game offers new varients and strategies that its predecessors could only dream of and the leaderboards (which I probably will never be on) are a true and needed upgrade for me. I purchased the game of $7.99 in US dollars and I must say it was fair price for a good game. This is one I recommend for anyone. This game will run on virtually any machine and the replayability is there. Good gaming all! - Dark
A ideia do Asteroids do Atari num game muito empolgante. Troquei SPACE + TAB por LEFT CTRL + LEFT SHIFT, menos complicado quando precisa fazer o HYPERSPACE. Recomendo, principalmente aos saudosistas!
After 1000 years of Asteroids it's time for Asteroids Millennium, fly around space and shoot the asteroids like the classic arcade game, but modern mode allows for upgrades like extra lasers. https://youtu.be/Y3o1cAZUQo0
