Asteroids clone with upgrade system and such. Introduction is ok. Gameplay is average and needs more polish.
this game is really fun for a single player game especially when it is free 100% would recommend buying the dlcs and overall for a 4 hour game that is free and singe play would recommend.
Seems like a basic asteroids game, until you discover the various asteroids types. Some chase you, others go fast, some split into millions of fragments. Bosses can be tough, but the greatest challenge is to skip waves early on a harder difficulty. The game slows down, and huge asteroids fill the screen, along with a barrage of UFO's. Then it gets exciting, if you manage to survive.
Asteroids ++ is one of the most ambitious and fun reimaginings of the original Asteroids arcade classic. While the core premise — flying your ship and blasting apart space rocks — is instantly familiar, this game takes that simple joy and expands it into something rich, chaotic, and endlessly replayable. From the moment you fire up Asteroids ++, you can feel the love for the original. The physics-inspired asteroid destruction, the satisfying explosions, and that signature “clear-the-screen” thrill are all here. However, Asteroids ++ doesn’t stop at nostalgia — it layers in meaningful progression and customization. One of the biggest upgrades over the original is how much control you have over your ship’s arsenal. With over a million possible weapon and utility combinations, every playthrough feels fresh and strategic. You can equip homing rockets, recruit AI drones to gather resources, dash through danger, stop time with a Timestop ability — and yes, even drop nukes for maximum chaos. It’s this depth that makes Asteroids ++ more than a shooter: it’s almost a space rogue-lite with deep customization and tactical choices. Visually, Asteroids ++ doesn’t hold back. The game embraces a wild, colorful aesthetic that still feels rooted in the retro space shooter vibe but elevates it with modern effects — explosions, particle effects, flashy pickups, and screen-filling weapon impacts that make every battle feel dramatic. The addition of visual flair for things like maximum-level items or coin pickups adds to the sense of progression and impact. Sound design and music further enhance the experience, with optional DLC soundtrack packs that let you enjoy the game’s tunes in high quality while also supporting the developer. Where Asteroids ++ truly shines is in the sheer breadth of content available. Aside from the main campaign, there’s now a rich catalog of DLC campaigns — including systems like Pluto & Charon, Proxima Centauri, Kepler-90, The Sun, and Red Moons — each with its own planets, challenges, and rewards. Each DLC feels like a fresh solar system to conquer, adding new battles, environments, and strategic considerations. These DLC packs significantly expand the game’s lifespan and give players reason to return long after the base game is complete. If there’s a minor area that Asteroids ++ could polish up, is weapon and utility balance. With such a huge number of combinations and powerful tools, some loadouts can feel overpowered while others lag behind, and balancing these for both new and seasoned players would elevate the experience further. Additionally, the UI could benefit from a bit more polish and attractiveness — while functional, refining menus and screens to match the craziness of the gameplay could help new players dive in more smoothly and improve overall aesthetic cohesion.
