About
Buckle up buckaroos, space is about to get weird.
I'm your host Tom Sennett, Philly's favorite game dev, The Last Real Indie Game Designer on Earth, creator of RunMan, Deepak Fights Robots, and more. I've been a solo game developer for 20 years, and One Million Stars is my freshest. It's a top-down 2D arcade space game with screen wrapping, in the vein of classics like Asteroids. You collect stars and avoid monsters. A million times!
Along the way you'll pilot 4 different characters and a fleet of unlockable ships, wielding stackable equipment upgrades and a variety of powerups as each run throws new challenges at you. This game is simple, addictive, and replayable, revealing more complexity as you get deeper in. You can play by yourself, or with up to 3 other friends in local co-op.
Each run you collect as many stars as possible, and between runs they get banked towards your total goal of one million. This means every little bit helps, and you’re going to need it! The last hope for humanity, the last line of defense against the monsters, relies on powering up a machine built by the bombastic President Moneyface.

Reviews
A stylish and vibrant arcade collect-em-up with survivor elements that overwhelms your senses in the most pleasant of ways. The music is perfectly crunchy and noisy and every screen is a chaotic mess of shapes and colors, exactly how I like my games. Weird art punk DIY gaming vibes here with a good sense of humor and unique style, keeping the player entranced by the psychedelic visuals and the fast paced score-chasing madness. The waves are lightning fast and the explosion of stars you get to collect at the end of each one is always super satisfying. The game also offers a couch co-op mode which serves the chaotic nature of One Million Stars' frantic arcade gameplay. Recommended for those who like their gaming quick, colorful, and loud.
This game is absurdly disappointing. Why it was randomly released before Runman Turbo is beyond me. For starters just go play Ultralight Beam on Itch.io for $2.99 (By the same Developer as this game). Full price this game is £16.75 which considering its Ultralight Beam Expanded is absurd. Even on sale for £10.05 is still far too much when Ultralight Beam is so similar and FAR cheaper. I have been a fan of this indie developer for a long time but this is this first ever time they have disappointed me.
Game that locks you into a trance where all you say is "One Million Stars..." over and over, each time with less of a grasp on reality. This is the game your mom was scared you'd play that would make you incapable of talking to other kids. Gameplay and progression are frenetic, electric, and sometimes incomprehensible. But it feels awesome, so I guess it is awesome? $20 is steep, for what this is. But I got it on sale for like $2, so it's the best deal of my life.
Tom Sennett's at it again, pushing the boundaries of indie gaming. In "One Million Stars," he delivers the same psychedelic colors and zany sounds as Runman, but with a space invader flavor. The colors scheme is a trip. Found the game pretty mesmerizing, and I appreciate Tom's willingness to put something different out there.
