About
What if a rock could remember?
Asteroid Requiem is an experimental game that’s part arcade, part art piece — drifting through orbit and memory as a sentient asteroid haunted by Earth’s legacy. It’s an existential sci‑fi fable about connection and collapse.
You’re not a hero, you’re just a stone orbiting the scarred surface of Mars. Remnants of a failed Mars colonization mission drift in silence; while a haunting view of a broken Earth hangs on the horizon. All you know is to destroy what humanity left behind, gather speed, and hurl yourself back home. Each impact unlocks poetic fragments of who you once were, until a final, emotional conclusion.
Physics‑driven impact & momentum – Orbit Mars and time your collisions to destroy debris and steer your return trajectory. No weapons, timers, or enemies—just gravity and ruin.
Designed to unfold in a single sitting – A focused 30‑minute Story Mode reveals 50 narrated Realization Fragments before the closing cinematic. Endless Mode lets you float for as long—or as calmly—as you like.
Fully voiced performance – Professional anime/game talent delivers every memory and the finale, adding human texture to a stone’s lament.
Atmospheric Unreal 5.5 visuals – High‑dynamic‑range lighting and volumetric clouds paint rust‑red horizons and the distant blue marble.
Adaptive ambient soundtrack – An original electronic score (available as DLC) evolves as you progress.
Controller‑first design – Thumb‑stick finesse recommended; while mouse & keyboard is supported.
Short, reflective games like Flower or the quiet moments of Solar Ash speak to you.
Graceful destruction feels meditative rather than competitive.
• • You want to leave the session thinking about where humanity is headed—and how we might change course.
This is a short, strange game that won’t be for everyone, and that’s okay.
I made Asteroid Requiem as a way to reflect on my fears about humanity’s future. The cosmic perspective helped me express those feelings through poetry, music, and a bit of quiet destruction. If it resonates with you, thank you.

Alright. Asteroid Requiem is done and dusted. In retrospect, after playing the game, the title makes perfect sense. This wasn't a particularly lengthy game, weighing in at around a half-hour plus or minus a few minutes depending on how the space debris falls. Anyway, it seems appropriate to keep this review relatively brief as well. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3529898602 This is actually a story driven game, fully voice acted, and actually, while the voice acting is a bit over the top, it also makes complete sense in context to the story, which goes from simple musing to the stress of remembering past events to the realization of what one must do to avoid great calamity and find inner peace. More or less. The backdrop to the story is allegorical and focuses on how we as humanity continue to ignore the ever-worsening global environmental crisis that many people ignore or flat out deny despite the fact that we are already past the point of no return and are firmly in the "try not to make it any worse" stage. When I was growing up, my dad used to say the environment was someone else's problem, and he was unfortunately correct. He's no longer with us, and the problem is now mine. And yours. And our children's. And theirs. Coincidentally and sadly, my father's attitude is one currently shared by corporations and any number of the world's oligarchs. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3529898562 Anyway, the story is revealed through the gameplay, and how the game functions is as follows. You play as an asteroid. You are in orbit around Mars, presumably. As you contemplate your existence as an asteroid, you get angry and start destroying space debris that ventures too close. Things like oil cannisters, computers, luggage. Each time you destroy one, it reveals a page of the story, with accompanying dialogue. You can move your asteroid around orbit, speeding it up and slowing it down as is necessary to intercept and destroy said debris. You will also destroy other space rocks, but those don't unlock dialogue. The wrinkle is the space debris doesn't just wander up to you. You need to catch up with it AND use the proper intercept angles in order to destroy them. And therein lies the game's singular challenge. Initially, there is so much debris that the challenge is nominal, but towards the end, the volume of space debris decreases significantly, and most of what's left is also small, making intercepting said debris far more of a challenge. I believe it was fifty pieces needed to complete the story and the game. Visually, there's not too much to see, but what is there looks very nice. Planets, dawn, dusk, and such. The soundtrack was also reasonably engaging and pretty nice to listen to. There are three customization options for both the asteroid and its tail as well, which was nice. There are a couple modes to enjoy if it's your thing. Story mode of course, but there is also free roam, and a points challenge, to go along with a leaderboard. To date, nobody seems to have played the third mode, but it is there. And a final note. If I remember correctly, while I don't see mention of it on the product page, in the curator request, the developer mentioned that no A.I. was used in making this game. I'd probably make that part of the description. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3529898477 The environmental messaging and the fears of the path we're on resonates with me, and I appreciated the developer being unafraid to tackle this issue. While I wouldn't call the gameplay amazing, it was fun enough as a conveyance for the story, and I enjoyed playing through this game. The $1.99 price tag is nominal, and in line with its experimental and artistic contemporaries. Although it is currently a bit cheaper at the time of this writing. I think this game is worth a look.
Information / Review English
Asteroid Requiem falls into the 3D arcade genre, developed by Wizards in Training.
Gameplay / Story
Classic arcade games set in space, in which the player controls a spaceship or other objects to fight aliens or other space enemies. These games are often characterized by their simple gameplay and retro graphics and are very popular with many players. In this game, we are an asteroid that has survived for decades and seen many galaxies. We make our way through orbit, dodging other things found in space, and even destroying other asteroids. There are also some relaxation phases, so there's no rush to progress. Pros + Classic arcade action with a relaxing twist + Destructible objects + Adaptive background music + Simple controls + Good value for money + Achievements Cons - Only a few languages available
Conclusion
Asteroid Requiem offers you a combination of classic arcade action and relaxing atelectasis. A clear recommendation to buy.
First of all, many thanks to the developer for providing us with this key for the group. This was a beautifully crafted narrative experience that can’t truly be felt just by reading a review. You drift through space as a forgotten asteroid, unraveling a poetic story about humanity. The voice acting is passionate, the soundtrack shifts perfectly with the narration, and the gameplay is thoughtfully paced to give space for the story to breathe. Highly recommend checking it out!
I've only played for under two hours so far, but I managed to reach the ending on Normal mode. The poetic expressions throughout the game left a strong impression on me—in a very good way. I haven't read the original script, so I can’t speak to the accuracy of the localization, but I didn’t notice anything particularly awkward in the Japanese translation. As for the gameplay, I might describe it as a kind of "collision-based shooter." It feels quite unique—perhaps even innovative. Personally, I found the controls a little tricky to get used to, though not enough to prevent me from completing the game. One thing that might help ease the difficulty would be an option to toggle the automatic camera return on or off. Also, for the story subtitles, it could be interesting to offer the choice to display both the original (English?) and the translated text simultaneously—perhaps in a smaller font. Lastly, I think the overall experience would benefit from some quality-of-life improvements, such as a clearer control explanation, key remapping options, and separate volume sliders for BGM, voice, and sound effects. Looking forward to what comes next.
it's a neat, novel, and short nice experience
Short, relaxing, and satisfying. Smashing space junk while unlocking memories felt simple and meaningful. Chill soundtrack too!
Being an asteroid is weirdly fun and meaningful. You smash things, yes, but you also reflect on life and question the nature of everything. It was a nice experience, very calming despite all the clashing. Poetic, even. The soundtrack helped. The storytelling/narration was a beautiful touch. The game has 3 modes: - Story (what I played) - Arcade (without the dialogue and the existential thoughts) - Endless (no progression) So I think it can appeal for different types of players. I was able to plugin a controller and play - so that was nice too. There is no SAVE option during story mode, but that was ok because it's a short, but nice, game! Good surprise.
It is tedious with no payoff. You are an asteroid that used to be a human somehow? And each time you hit devris you scream to yourself. So the object is to hit things. The debris seems to veer away from you while other rocks tend to zoom in on you with no hope to escape them sometimes. This makes the last achievement very awful and not worth it. Aside from achievments there doesn't seem to be a goal. I wish there was more to it. Maybe special asteroid moves or attacks. Maybe an actual story other than EMO angst. Maybe a cutscene before starting a new level. Multiple levels both off planet and off would be more of a story.
I enjoyed this game, The controls are a bit difficult to get used to at first but with a bit of time it gets more intuitive for how the traveling is when rotating around planets. The art is beautiful and the voice acting is done well.
El mensaje del juego es bonito, aunque el manejo me parece mejorable.
