After playing this game for nearly 2 weeks straight for almost 43 hours, despite the numerous flaws I found while playing, I still did enjoy it. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game. Pros: 1) Astel system: The system is somewhat unique in the sense that the Astels are on-the-fly support companions that can offer varied skills to help you fight enemies. They can be found as tanks, healers, melee or ranged dps, or support (buffer). You can always have at least 1 active with your Atra Power (AP) gauge regen being sufficient, but having 2 or more out will quickly deplete your reserves until the extras are unsummoned. If they're damaged, they'll take longer to resummon based on the missing health. While equipped (up to 8 can be set in a card section), they can provide passive buffs to specific things like gathering speed, crafting, etc if the right combinations of them are set. 2) Item Enhancement system: If you find a low level piece of gear that you really like, you can technically take it all the way to max level in usefulness via the enhancement system. By using parts from disassembled gear, you can upgrade and evolve the gear to higher stats and eventual gear level. You can upgrade a piece of gear 7 times before if can be evolved to a piece of gear up to 10 levels higher. Once that's done, the process starts all over again, and so on. Cons: 1) Voice-acting and translation: Boy is this a rough one. I understand that this was originally a Korean-based game, but the woefully bad translations and voice-acting in the game could be seen as an unforgivable turn-off. Sometimes it's decent, but many times the voices simply DO NOT match what is onscreen at all, and it's quite immersion-breaking. 2) Dungeon ticket system: Setting an artificial time-gating system could be seen as forgivable in a free-to-play game, but this is now a Buy-to-Play (edit: thanks for the correction Nymeros) game. Only being able to run maybe 6 dungeons in a day (half that if you use the ticket boost to improve dungeon drops by 70%) means that you're not going to have anything to do at max level after an hour except to mind-numbingly grind thousands of things. 3) The game is quite barren of players. In my entire time playing, I rarely found anyone that was actively doing content around my level. Doing dungeons, thankfully you have the option to do Solo versions of the dungeon, as I maybe found 3 groups when using the matchmaking tool for group dungeons. 4) The gathering/crafting professions system: This by far is my biggest complaint with the game and also the reason I quit playing. The profession system is like a hybrid of WoW and FFXIV in exactly the worst aspects of both. You can level up and use any number of the crafting skills, however you are only allowed to learn and use just 1 gathering profession. This makes it at best only possible to level 1 equipment/consumable-based crafting skill aside from cooking. However, each of these crafting skills often relies on items from other crafting systems. In order to advance these skills, you would either need to create an alternate character to level the other crafting skills, or buy things at the overly-expensive auction house. This alone isn't bad enough, which segues into my next con, which is... 5) Enemies 10+ levels below you in the open world are coded to no longer drop ANYTHING when killed; the corpses immediately *poof*. (edit: This was personally tested over 3 hours of killing enemies that were clearly at least 10 levels below my characters, and were known to drop loot, be it coin, junk, or crafting materials) This is by far the silliest and stupid mechanic for preventing farming of low-level things by high level players. Simply not providing experience would have been enough, yet this rubs salt in the wound for anyone that's serious about crafting. Have a tradeskill you didn't bother leveling until you hit max level and need low-level cloth/leather drops for your recipes? Too bad! You effecively CAN'T get them anymore unless you run old solo dungeons to kill mobs that have a 'tiny' chance to drop some. Couple that with the fact you often need 5-6 of them to craft a single component, with the limited dungeon running due to the aforementioned ticket system, and you might as well not even bother with tradeskilling anymore unless, you guessed it, create an alt to farm them. Then, when that alt outlevels the content again, delete and roll another, ad nauseum. Do I regret buying this game? Not really, as I can say that I did get a good value for my money out of the time I played this MMO. I do however say that until these cons are addressed and fixed, it's not worth picking up at this time. (Review edited 2/19/2020 following comment submitted by Nymeros)

Not sure how this is mostly positive. The cash shop is just waaaay out of hand with it's pricing. They try to make it look cheaper than it actually is by using a double currency transaction where you have to buy one in-game currency to buy another in-game currency to buy from the cash shop. So, one thing shows a nice low number to make the purchase, but in reality it takes $6 US to buy a single row of inventory expansion (the only way to expand your inventory is through cash from what I've been told by pretty much everyone). It's like if the rides and stuff at Disney only label themselves as costing 2-5 Disney bucks but the Disney bucks actually cost you ten times as much as the actual dollar/euro value per Disney buck. I didn't do enough research into this game before I made the purchase (trusted the reviews too much, should have known most of them were fake), I'm probably not going to get the refund I requested. Let my mistake be a lesson to you.
BUYER BEWARE Read this before buying BUYER BEWARE while yes i will admit its a wonderful game i love it its got alot of great features BUYER BEWARE do not buy this game on steam while again this game is great and lots of fun the released steam version is very scammy there is no proper steam non-steam content linking it is effectively 2 different games that share 95% of the same content(estimated 5% of the content is not accessable to those who use steam) and cross platform pc to steam while many steam users will not notice the missing content its only cause they don't really know that that missing content is even missing if your going to honestly buy a version of the game go to their website and get the non steam version of the game it is with great regret i write this review steam and you do not deserve to be scammed in this manor myself and wife lost $400+ USD to that missing 5% of content that acording to devs is due to a technical limitation that they make effort to not allow people to pry into at all while every game i have in my library and even those free to play games do not have this technical limitation
Before I bought the game for the 30.00 package. I read the reviews, the good and bad. Before I got into this review, if you noticed the thumbs up from the players that have spent more than 4 hours in the game. Most of your Thumbs down have spent less than 2 hours in the game. This game can't get a fair sense of justice until you reach around level 15 and unlock your first solo dungeon. *** If you buy it on Steam, stick with Steam you don't need to do anything on their *** *** website. I can't stress that enough, Steam has their own way of logging in, and *** *** funding your in-game purchases (via the Steam Wallet) no need to even *** *** touch their website other than read up on patch notes. *** After playing for 36 hours total. I have a level 23 Scholar (healer), level 18 Warrior, and a level 10 Archer. Now with any MMO there are good and bad points. The things I consider good points, once you buy the game you don't need to buy anything in the cash shop it is all decoration nothing more, different weapon skins, armor skins, the Astel outfits (Astels are your companions). The Astels you gain through out the story line (with the exception of a few that can only be found by getting Astel cards from final boss rewards in dungeons (100% drop rate, but totally random of which one you get to choose out of 4). To go further into Astels, they cost AP points to cast, to maintain the summon on and AP to use their special attack. By default you will only be able to hold one Astel (many of the Astels have a 20 AP maintain cost, a few have a 25 AP maintain cost, one or two might have a 30 AP maintain cost, there are two Astels that cost 750 AP to summon but only last 45 seconds with no maintaining cost - I use them on the final boss in the dungeons I have access to helps a lot!). Want to run 2 Astels you will need to use Atra Potions (you can buy them from the Auction house or they are final boss Dungeon rewards) which increase your AP regen by 12 for an hour. This will allow you to summon two Astels with a cost of 20 AP. You can also equip the Astels with Gems? Runes? something like that (like in WoW how you gem out your gear). Once you get all the gems in there you will notice the enhance button lights up, if you have the ingame gold to pay for it, click it. It will take those stats and they are added to the base stats (it consumes the current gems) and gives your Astel a +1. Keep doing that for +2, +3 ect. ect. Story line, I like it I'm enjoying it. Now to the downside, dungeons cost 2 to 4 tickets per run (I think it might be higher for the higher level dungeons I'm not there yet with my characters). You start with 20 but they give you a 4 ticket bonus for the special Subscription bonus. With a regen of 1 ticket per 30 minutes. More bad news, the low level dungeons I waited an hour to get a group and the queue never did pop. I even asked in area chat and the only reply I got was "I only that @#$@ on Legendary", so lower level dungeons you will be soloing, which isn't an issue if you find the right Astels to bring with you. As for my experience, I am having way more luck with running as a healer I run two Astel Warrior / Tank types (Rota and Drago). My Archer I have tried one Tank, one healer, that worked out pretty well, my current testing is DPS (assassin) and a healer (Scorpio and Ram). So take all that with a grain of salt. Hope that helps.
So i played the game on korean release and after an year the game closed on the korean server and came to steam for 60 won ( thats the price i remember ) but i bought the deluxe that was about 100 USD. and after playing for 12~14 hours it was boring and there was no player i have seen 8~9 ppl and i couldn't even get in to a dungeon match for 5 hour and even then i couldn't fine ppl. and NOW THEY PUT A FREE VERSION (THE SAME GAME IN A DIFFERENT NAME) FOR KOREAN PLAYER ? WTF the game name is "Astellia Royal" https://www.astelliaroyal.com/ and thats the link. for steam users DO NOT BUY or if u have DO NO BUY any other stuff
This game is restricted in some countries and only way how to know which countries they are is to buy the game, download it and then find it out at the account creation.
5/22/20 Update: Just got a response TODAY on my outstanding ticket from late February (2/27). Apparently the GM working on my ticket quit a long time ago. So, if you have outstanding issues from that period, they might be sitting in someone's long-abandoned in box. Basically, none of my issues with my borked assassin have been addressed except with a, "We've had lots of patches since you filed your ticket, so maybe your problem has been fixed." That's a big NOPE. It's all irrelevant anyway, since I uninstalled several weeks ago. As of the first week in May, the issues with my assassin remained when I tried to log in just to get the free astels. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is really hard to write, because this game has a lot of potential if the devs will take a little more time to tailor it to the Western audience. As it is, the first 40 or so levels are mostly good fun. Combat is reasonably fluid for a tab-target game. The story is pretty entertaining, and you can complete subzones fairly quickly-- before you get tired of them. Areas are absolutely beautiful for most of the game. You have lush farmlands, open green grasslands, deep twilight forests, witchy corrupted areas, and beautiful villages complete with waterfall vistas. The astels mostly have fun personalities and they add a lot of flavor to the story experience. The relationships they have with each other actually start to develop some depth just as you're about to hit level 50. Then comes The Endless Brown. Southern Lentuth. Northern Lentuth. Then the interminable Athlon. Quests that used to include the standard "kill ten rats" turn into thirty (were)rats mixed with thirty orcs and thirty wolves. Questing gets a lot more annoying in those areas because a good portion of the endgame population parks their toons and astels there to farm AFK. We're talking droves of AFK players, enough to totally decimate most of the mobs you have to kill for quests. It's a slog, right around the time that RNG kicks in and your gear costs a kajillion gold to upgrade. Past the first three enchantments, you're pretty much guaranteed a failure. I have no clue how the actual story ends because right around the time I was introduced to the legendary quest gear lady, I got a new quest in some endgame mine that showed me I'd have to grind for months to be able to complete it. It's just as well, because the story... Never mind. Suffice to say, uninstalled. If you're a hardcore endgamer, you'll probably enjoy this. If you love PvP and you can find others like you (not likely from the official forums and Steam discussion page), endgame is heavily PvP-oriented. I feel like I got my money's worth, but I still kind of regret my purchase. Pros: Astel system is a blast. They all have their own personalities and the game allows most of them to shine. Beginning of the game flows nicely for a casual story player who loves to quest. Some really beautiful world design. Combat is a lot of fun-- at first. Game is very solo friendly-- at first. Support is very responsive with issues you might have. Cons: RNG, RNG, thy name is bankruptcy! The free heroic gear I got at level 50 consumed every bit of gold I'd banked throughout the game + every disassembled armor and jewelry fragment. And I was only able to get everything to +3. AFK players make questing in end-of-game zones utter misery for newer players. No kill credit sharing unless you're in a group. If you're expecting ESO or GW2 or WoW-style shared XP and individualized loot, it isn't happening here. ^ and this is what makes AFK-heavy zones so miserable. Cash shop is full of character-bound items. That includes the Ring of Exploration in the Upgrade cash shop or some of the game packages below. I know, I tried to move it to shared account storage. Doesn't work.** This game crashed constantly on my machine. I've never experienced so many issues-- and I'm not alone. Support and the devs are apparently working on it, but who knows if they'll figure out the problem.* ** Update: cash shop mounts are "shareable" even if the ring isn't. You only get one, but you can shift it around to your alts by putting it in account storage. I had no self-control since I'm bored, so I got the spotted kitty. He's cute! * Something sort of got fixed. If I dump the cache, I can log in and have the game work 90% of the time. 3/23/20 Update: Yep, you can tell I'm desperate for entertainment. 34 more gaming hours during week 1 of my regional area's Viral House Arrest. Ugh. Even now, I can't say I recommend this game. I'm in the same boat as the rest of you-- new, decent games are scarce on the MMORPG and single-player RPG front. This one has moments, but they end fast. I've been playing the fun parts of the game, Ragferant and Rendeilo (ugh, Tulie, ugh) on a Scholar. This was fun up until I hit Lentuth at level 35 and there were no further damage skills I could add to my arsenal. Now, I'm a wet noodle downing AP potions right and left so I can actually kill things as I quest. The area outside Ivera (Ivara?) Fortress is the same yellow-brown as Hutta and Quesh in SWTOR. Yuck. So I started a chibi mage. I tried to make her taller in the sliders, but I think I forgot one. She looks like she's 10. Her clothes are... questionable. Her skills lock her in place, which is just dandy during dungeon boss fights. At least she can kill things. I've turned her into a logger so she can overcompensate for her size. Archer is brutally hard to level. I quit at level 21. You can't move. Your arrows do nothing to damage the target. This toon got a five-star Ram early, but she still downs healing and mana potions like a junkie. Assassin is the most enjoyable class of the four I've tried so far, and is my second abandoned toon. I seriously can't do much with her. She's wearing +3 blue jewelry from Amie's boxes, +3 heroic armor and weapons. She has two legendary level 45 pieces that she can't afford to evolve. I ran her through the Sealed Boy (Enakir) questline and she got two-shot downed by trash in Astara. So good luck on dailies, let alone those ten Motut canoneers in the mine >:( This is really not the game for solo, story-oriented players. 4/14/20 Week 4 of Viral House Arrest. Game is no more interesting. In fact, it's agonizingly dull. It's like the more boring life gets, the tedium in games rises exponentially. Mage is static, boring, and straight-up annoying. I got her to level 22(3?). Zzzzz. So I started a warrior. Talk about every skill looking the same. Female warriors sound permanently constipated. "Ruuuu-oota!" Sadly, most food choices in the game don't include the right amount of fiber. By level 13, I have two AOEs that do barely any damage. Drops of collectibles seem to have gotten nerfed in a recent patch, so finishing A Star's Tale has gotten even more grindy. Assassin is the only fun class, IMHO. I actually finished the big grind quests for legendary armor on my poor perma-bugged assassin. For the armor, it's 300 mobs around Athlon (barf!). For the weapon, it's 600 mobs around Greleaf-- an endgame daily area. Those mobs are misidentified in the quest log, btw. So you have to guess which ones drop which collectible. Pick up the weekly in the area, and everything is perma-tagged "Q" until you get 50 of the rare RNG drops. That makes grinding out the mobs extra fun. So, yeah, the 600 mobs are dead. But when I try to log in to my toon to finish the quest, the game crashes. Or I click on her in the starter screen and she vanishes just before the game crashes-- again. If you think the AFKing is bad in Athlon, you should check out Greleaf. Athlon is for pikers >:(
Short Summary for the experienced MMO player If you’re starved for a new MMORPG while we’re all in the 4+ years void of decent releases then, maybe give is a go BUT game is very theme park on rails, has some decent content and ideas but its pricy. I pushed myself to log in after 15 hours…. No real challenge all very vanilla gameplay….. Best bit is the varied pets/companions! Short Summary for the younger or less experienced MMO player Do yourself a favour. Buy or download; Rift, GuildWars2, ElderScrolls Online, Neverwinter, Final Fantasy XIV or even older titles like Lord of the Rings etc…. All and many more games out there, have much better total PvE or PvP content, dungeons, raids, crafting, mechanics etc…..
Basically, its Another Korean MMORPG. Graphics are amazing, music is solid enough, character designs are great and range from adorable to gorgeous to amazing. That being said the combat is clunky as hell, the UI is annoying, and the dialogue could have been done by a third grader and doesn't even match the subtitles half the time. Its... okay. Its not amazing, its not horrible. Its a decent enough buy for $30, but stay away from the micropayment shop. $25 gets you one costume, total rip-off.
Before playing this game, I was a little worried due to the negative comments. But my husband and I decided to give it a try anyways. We're both 10 hours in and we love this game! It doesn't feel super grindy like other MMOs that we've tried, the combat it great, and the world is absolutely stunning! I'm glad we decided to give it a try :)
